Thread: Increased requirements for combateers, decreased for Docs. Us next?

With the CU, all combat professions will require 2 trees in a related non-elite profession, ie Rifleman taking Marskman Rifles 1-4 and Ranged Support 1-4.

The requirements for Bounty Hunter and Commando will fall in line with this, freeing up 8 boxes for them.

Thing is, even docs will be losing 2 trees of requirements--though granted, they're getting the hell neutered out of them.

What about us? Do you think we'll lose 2 trees of requirements? Do we want to? I've always held a lot of pride in being a Ranger, even moreso because of that requirement. Anyone who's a Master Ranger is pretty serious about it. We're the only four-tree-prereq class that isn't immediately and reliably powerful at its apex. (Combat Medics in PVP, Doc buffs, Commando and BH damage.)

On the other hand, with one extra tree now required to be a Rifleman, Pistoleer or whatever combat path we follow, those extra skill points would go far in letting us have a "for fun" novice profession (Entertainer for fun, Artisan for surveying), or for FS boxes.

I completely agree... It's even worse with the combo I have: MRanger/MCH/Rifleman (-1--) I'm 7 sp short!!!!

Better would be something like this I think. Say IF you get Master Ranger you get back 16 points. (1 for each scouting box) Similar to what they are doing for the IDs. I say link it to being a MR becasue unlike the ID skills the scout ones are still useful to most other professions. But to a Master Ranger it is really just more of what you got good at.

THe good news for a lot of us is that no new for Novice medic anymore. For those that have it that right their covers the extra non-elite combat tree they need for whatever their fighting style is.

Just a thought..

aah, i hadn't thought of that, thanks. anyone can use stims now, so i can finally dump my novice medic and free up 15 sp. although mind ya, that 15 sp will have to go to the sceond combat branch for my TKM... oh well.

This will not matter. You health is going to grow in direct relationship to your combat cababilites. Since we are not at all now considered a combat class (Smuggler made it! Congradulations guys!) our health will not increase. We are not now considered a combat profession nor a major support profession to the GCW. We are considered a suppor group for the real support groups, who really can get the same things from the combat professions, and certainly in larger quanities since our health will not go up, thus we are not going to be able take on the major creatures to harvest. But of course we could get our combat buddies to kill them for us and then go harvest because we do harvest some more then they do. Real fun.

we arent really alone here at all. we're unique in the sense that we do have 8 full trees before we hit Ranger, but the health thing isn't only implemented for us. now i don't remember if i read correctly, but i dont think the health progression is directly tied to combat profs. unless i'm wrong, it applies to every profession and based on how advanced you are. so an elite master of X prof would probably get the same Health as another elite master of prof Y.

cant be sure on this, but i think its worth a look.

all elite combat professions now require TWO trees in the starter proffession, My current template

MasterRanger/MasterScout

MasterRifleman/Marksman 4xx1

Novice Medic

I have ONE skillpoint left.

I have to give up novice medic wether i want to or not to get the other THREE ranged support trees. I will not be able to stack even one tree of another elite combat profession.

something needs to be done......

Evey one gets to use Stim B type things on them selves in the CU so you should be cool if you dump medic.

I was MR/MTK and novice medic, MTK requires an additional 14 skill points for that 2nd column of brawler which means to more medic however as you say we get free stims so will be a neutral change for that particular.

As it happens I have dumped TK. I noticed that BH will use one line from marksman and one from scout, so given that we have scout already that is 14 skill points saved. CH requires scout also. So I could have a jocking big pet to tank and blast stuff with a LLC. I am leaning towards this template atm

Actually, the facts are still out on that. TH still hasn't answered that question. Certain information leads me to believe that there is definately a strong possibility that we will recieve the benefits of being a combat profession. The thing is that I think there simply wasn't enough time to revamp Rangers in a meaningful way. Our combat style would have to be unique and there simply isn't time to do all that right now. I don't think Rangers will be left in the cold in terms of health, but until we get confirmation I don't know.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.
