Thread: ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!
Sorry guys, but I feel so much better now
/sigh of relief
But that post is the truth. I was sorry to see people this morning were still assuming our skill had been given away, even after all the posting last night that explained that you needed scout skills to use the droids.

NOVICE SCOUT IS REQUIRED TO USE THE HARVEST MODULES

The purpose of the droid is to save time. The droid runs out and harvest the corpse you kill so you dont have to chase those pesky avain who bolt to 64m and die.
Another possible purpose MAY be to enhance the effects of harvesting. I must highlight the MAY part because this hasnt been proven and how it may work.

It shows that it will "ENABLE SCOUTS" to command a droid to harvest.............
On a similar note many of us who arnt or cant get on TC cant test these features out so just sit tight and wait for the test results to come back. I mean CHRIST! Its on TC for a reason (to be tested) its not asif its live so any problems or benefits will be clearly defined b4 it goes live.

I even told the devs to make sure they got the description right (they did on the login screen on TC, but obviously not on the patch notes). Do us all a favor and GO TEST THESE THINGS BEFORE YOU POST ABOUT HOW THE PROFESSION HAS JUST BEEN KILLED!If one does not know how they work, how can one post that it ruins our preofession? All that does is upset the people who believe the poster is knowledgeable. If one hasen't used the droid modules, don't tell people what the droids can and can't do. Delta, DiLune (Marksman Corr) and myself, as well as some other community members have stated that 1) you need to have Novice scout to use them, and 2) we are not positive how it affects you harvesting. Please guys, relax and let these be tested. I promise that I will not allow harvesting to be a free skill for anyone with a droid, and I promise that the droids will be beneficial to use, but I need a chance to test the out first.
Don't blame those overrreacting, blame SOE for once again a lack of detail in such notes.
And as long as SOE doesn't state in detail how things are SUPPOSED to work testcenter is a joke anyway. How exactly are players supposed to figure out if things work as intended without knowing WHAT was intended (and now I try to find a way to get on TC without the 2.1 GB download I got announced when hitting the "testcenter" button and logging in. If I do not find one I guess I'm not testing).

Indeed, the devil's in the details. Patch notes like those are worse than no patch notes at all.
Someone should be hired full time to vet the patch notes *before* they are posted so this sort of thing doesn't happen... someone with an in depth knowledge of the concerns of the professions from these boards here... oh nevermind.
The typo's been fixed. Novice Scout is in there now.
You have to download the program to use it.
If you have concerns, wait for Calc and I to test this stuff out and we'll tell you how it works.

I've calmed down a good bit today myself, but I'm still holding off judgement until I get some test results on these new droids. I have a TC character that I've been working on developing this last month or so with my wife, and I plan on testing this droid out as much as I can, if possible, before making final judgement.
All that said, Calc, Delta, can you honestly be surprised over the initial reaction we've had here? Considering how long Ranger's have been ignored, and the continuing trend to slowly give away every single one of our abilities, I think the reaction here was fairly calm given the state of affairs for this profession. I'm trying to keep a cool head and evaluate things logically here, but I still can't help but feel this is, in the best case, a mostly useless addition, and in the worst case, something that is going to end up hurting us.
I can' thelp but also feel that any impact the "Million Monkeys" might have had has now been lost, because the droids might just very well increase the overall meat/hide/bone supply but without resolving any of our core issues in the process. I hope this turns out well, but I can't say I'm very optimistic about Ranger's chances anymore.
I hope you two can drill something into the devs as well, because this whole incident is just the tip of the iceburg...I can easily see things getting worse and worse in here as patch after patch continues to go by with no attention for Rangers. I think this whole thing serves, if anything, to show just how beaten down Rangers feel right now.
Calc,
The reaction of people on this forum was based on two things. #1: the wording of the announcementin the release notes. #2: the things that you said in the "preliminary droid tests" thread. Yes, you contributed to this. Instead of ranting at us I think what we need is some organized and objective information about this.
I suggest:
1) who can use it?
2) some hard data on harvest numbers
I don't think we expect you to provide all the answers but you do have the ability to organize and by hook or by crook provide this type of information which is desperately needed and present it in a way that it can be easily digested by members of this forum. Only then can we decide what sort of response is appropriate.
