Guys,
Actually, yeah. I can fault you guys for flipping out when you don't have any information and you haven't seen what the droids can do.
Within 20 minutes of the thing going up, there were like 5 threads about how the Devs had just destroyed our professions, the Devs truly hate us, etc.
I take it personally, because it makes me think you guys think that Calc and I have fallen asleep at the wheel. Like we would let them take away our primary reason for existence.
There is no reason why everything new in this game needs to be met with wailing and gnashing of teeth about how horrible it is and how it's going to ruin the game.
Because none of those new things have destroyed the game yet.
Want some irony? What was one of the most well received things that the Devs ever did (at the time)? - the free holocrons for Christmas.
What's the one thing that's nearly destroyed the game? Hologrinding.
Where were the gnashers then?
We need to stay upbeat guys. We need to recognizethat the only people that can help us are the Devs, so developing an adversarial relationship with them isn't in our best interests. You don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Now, what I think everyone needs to do is calm down, let us test this stuff out and get you definitive answers to your questions. While you wait, you can count and see how many cliche's I threw into this post.

Calc and Delta,
Just so you know I, as well as many others, have complete faith in you and Calc so don't worry. You've gotten me through plenty of scout profession related jams and kept me interested in the field as long as I've been playing. I do think its good that everyone is voicing their concerns right now primarily because it helps prove to the DEVs that its not just a small part of the community that's frustrated (a fact I'm sure you've both communicated, but issues like this really bring out player dedication and affectionto this profession.)
As I have stated before, it is not the voicing of concerns that was the problem. I have never asked that we not voice our concerns. I have asked that we get the facts before we form the posse.
As always I want to commend you, Calc, and even Nrass (who has moved on) for your hard work and dedication to holding these two communities together.
My reservations, which Ihavevoiced, hold right now... but I have complete faith in you and Calc to let us know if this is something terrible or not and to represent us thouroughly to the devs. I'm also working hard to test theadditions myself but unfortunately won't have muchinthe way of resultstil later this weekend.
Have fun testing and keep up the great work.

/Nods ... I understand completely and agree. Just trying to keep my correspondents in good spirits.

You wanna pass that statement on to the devs? If I'm not mistaken, it's our money that pays their salary no?
Holocrons at christmas were a gift. Not only that, but it destroyed every profession. How would that be equal to a class that had their last unique skill given to everyone else?
Ah, yes. The old "Do what I tell you because I pay your salary" argument. That's crap. They develop the game. We choose to play. If we don't like how they develop the game, we don't continue to pay. The customer is not always right - the customer can always go somewhere else. A customer is always going to want something for nothing, or to get top quality for lowest price and that's never possible.
The holocron issue is simply proving that the player base is extremely bad at predicting the outcome of Developer decisions. The holocron decision was a horrible one, but it was popular. Where were the naysayers then? They were gone - because they got something for nothing.
And there's no such class in the game right now, so that part of the argument is moot.
My point is simply this - the gnashers have been pretty bad at predicting the actual results of changes in the game. So they should stop doing it.
