Yes my young padawen, it takes patience and character to camp150 times for 35 minutes each. The ways of the Masters are hard and fraught with... well... insanity BUT I believe you can conquer theBeast of Bordom. Just remember young one: you will have lots of time to post on the forums.

Yeah, valid. I had a doctor friend that would hang out with me and craft while I crafted traps and one trick we learned to make the camps max quicker: stand in front of a tent and keep tumbling until all your action is gone and you have damage..... then the doc gets exp for healing and your camp maxes out quicker...... also had some guild members duel while i passed out healing to whoever was lower..... that helps too!

Also, back when I was a musician, I grinded both at the same time!

I'm in the middle of the grind for that last elusive block; it's all that stands between me and MasterRanger. Here are some hints:

- Set your camp up in a high traffic area where people are doing missions. More traffic = more visiters.

-Say hello to people who come to your camp and talk to them. It's amazing how many people stop doing missions and sit down to talk just because I say "Hello, welcome to my camp." as they run by.

- Heal people who come to your camp. I've got a bunch of wound packs and stims so I always heal people when they stop to chat. Once they know you will be there for a while, they might start taking harder missions and stop by for healing in between missions instead of going all the way back to town.

-Forage for food and give it to creature handlers who visit your camp. You'd be surprised how appreciative creature handlers are when you give them free food to heal their pets. Doesn't cost us anything but time and while your camping you have plenty of that!

- Set thein game alarm system for 30-40 minutes and rebuild your camp every time that the alarm rings.

- If you have crafting friends that are grinding have them do it in your camp. They can do it anywhere, why not there?

- For the few times when there isn't anyone on the radar have a book to read.

Bottom Line:Try to make it a more of a social thing instead of a grind. Camping can be (dare I say it) a fun change from destroy mission, after destroy mission, after destroy mission. Explore a diffferent side of the game. A lot of people appreciate other players that take the time to interact with them. I've even had people ask me if I was going to be around the next day so that they could use my camp again.

Good Luck!

I got 100k credits.

I then put on my 'grinding cap', and ground.

grinding traps/camps while in the cantina is much more fulfilling.. I actually sat down in the cantina and MADE about 50 trap stacks, then went out and used them all up to gain trapping exp... beats sitting in a camp for a measly 1k exp...

Don't know the exact formula, but the xp grant is base on camp type, obviously, the higher end, the more xp. Sorry, I did't tabulate the xp grant for each type, so can't answer that for you. Low-end was about 360xp. High end was around 1300 xp.

The granting formula is based on time, healing, and number of visitor. But don't know the exact formula either. Healing yourself or your pet doesn't count.

It seem around 25-30 min, you'll get max if all you're doing is sitting. At 51 min, the camp automatically disband.

So, to gain camping xp fast, get together with a large group, to hunting on advanced planet where everybody get beat up badly, then pop a camp down. When I did this, I max out in about 5 min. So disband and set camp again.

The other technique (I personally haven't used) is to set camp on the outskirt of town and invite entertainer and medic. This will attract visitor, which mean more visitor and more healing. It's good for the adventurer since he doesn't have to enter town and be lagged. Again, I never personally tried this, so I don't know how well it would work. In theory, this sound great.

If you the Lone Ranger type, then pick up artisan skilland mine while you camp, but plan on spending lots of time because there's no way for a solo ranger to speed up the xp gain for camping.

Would it be too sneaky to look around for someone doing macro resource sampling and throwing up a camp around them? Or does the game prevent you from doing that?

"Would it be too sneaky to look around for someone doing macro resource sampling and throwing up a camp around them?"

- Actually I've done that myself on occasion.

- I love when they return to the keyboard and find a field base surrounding them... It's quite a hoot.

GO FISHING, PEOPLE!

YOu get 50-150 Survival XP per fish caught. Do it from inside a camp, and you get the camping XP too! I wrote a guide, it's on the game guides forum, titled 'How to get survival XP in a jiffy."

Don't wait in the camp until you have maxed out your exp. You will be much more efficient if you change out the camps every 17-20 minutes when you are by yourself. For example at about the 17min mark with a field base i get arround 900 to 1050 exp if i wait until the camp has maxed out in about another 15-20 minutes i would get the 1280 exp that is max.

So it is much more efficient to do this at the earlier mark rather than wait for the camp to max out exp.

But grinding is boring as (blank)

i would try to get the exp while hunting it's a lot more fun and you just plop down the camp when everyone needs a break to heal. You max out the camp really fast sometimes you will want to use two or three camps in one place to get more exp. at a little over 1k a camp with the larger ones it goes fairly quickly.

I only need 23k more to level in frontiering 4 woo hoo i just need the scouting exp now hehe.

good luck

when the game first came out,i made a character on eclipse, and he eventualy became a ranger.all i had left to get master was frontiering 3 and 4,my god i could not take it anymore.so i started another character on my current server and he became a weaponsmith.then i started missing my ranger hehe.and i didnt really feel like jumping back and forth between servers,so i bought another account, and made another character who was to become a ranger.now that we have the changes to the class.im wondering is frontiering really much easier?i know we get survival exp now for making camps and traps, but is it a big difference?all i need to get ranger now is those god forsaken AP points i need for master scout,i already have enough scouting exp to train novice ranger.

im guessing once i start survival,is it more efficient to just buy a butt load of resources and craft out the survival exp as opposed to sitting in a camp for forever?or do both?

I always just set up camp and sample resources to sell. At the same time, i can go eat dinner, play with the kids, work, or whatever. come back every half hour or so to replace. Wheni actually sit down to play, i usually need to find a trainer at that time.
