Thread: How do you guys do it......
Join a large group Krayt hunt. Advertise your services as a Tracker, and they will be begging you to come.
Now, granted, you can't reliably keep your camp up while you scout, however you can place a camp near the lair/combat area while the fight occurs (provided you do not attack yourself).
In large groups (>12 or so people), I max my camp XP every 4-5 minutes (Field Base ~1140-1200 xp), so have a lot of camp kits ready before you go, or you'll be spending all your time crafting them while you are there.
The downside to this is that the Krayt Graveyard is an absolute zoo on busy nights, and usually tends to draw some of the stupidest people. (example: Goober attacks the nest while a greater canyon krayt dragon is currently out and fighting the rest of the party... out pops another dragon and eats most everyone before they have a chance to react.)
You also have a lot of competition for lairs on those busy nights, and there are very few groups that will offer any courtesy whatsoever. I do rembember one hunt however where I found the lair about 2 minutes before the other group's ranger did. Both our groups set up camp near the lair and we alternated kills for the better part of 30 minutes before the lair played out. Everyone was happy and we made some good contacts in the other group. The very next night a similar situation happened, but the other group mixed up with us and pounded on the lair while we were fighting our spawn. The resulting chaos turned to carnageand cost both parties dearly.
At any rate, if done right, the large group hunt is the best way to go for a ranger who is wanting good amounts of camp xp.

GO FISHING, PEOPLE!
YOu get 50-150 Survival XP per fish caught. Do it from inside a camp, and you get the camping XP too! I wrote a guide, it's on the game guides forum, titled 'How to get survival XP in a jiffy."

IMHO:
You're gonna regret sitting there and camping ![]()
I did it because I was obsessed with getting MASTER AT ALL COSTS!
Then once I had it I realized I'd just blown three days camping. The only good thing about Master right now is the +10 +10 to melee and ranged defense.
Traps: Makes no difference in throwing traps if you are Novice Scout or Master Ranger
Harvesting: Slightly (2- 3) more units on big game.
Dathomir camo kit, so you can pull animals to you from 100 meters away...
Just play the game and drop camps when needed and you'll be spending your time a lot better.

With judicious placement of a camp (not a field base) you can stay in your camp and fish at the same time. Catching fish gives survival experience. Not a lot, but it adds up over time. Plus you can make an aquarium or sell them to a chef (?).

there's no way for a solo ranger to speed up the xp gain for camping.
To be honest, I actually missed earning my Survival xp ![]()
I got most of them by plonking down my camp just outside Coronet during prime playing time. Of course, my pet giant peko peko hanging over ny Field Base went a long way in attracting visitors too ![]()
The trick is to enjoy other players' company when they do pop in. Chat and socialise. That will generate interest and also catch the attention of people running by....I remembered the time when I had like 8-10 persons in camp just hanging out around the campfire chatting. So, it's like 1100 xp every 5 min or so. Hehe thanks guys...
Anotherway (my personal fav too!) is to go put up aFBbeside the bridge just outside Theed. That way, I got my camp half-submerged in the river and I whip out my 73% fishing rod and fish away....In fact,I hit Frontiersman by catching a blackfish too ![]()
I was getting.
All I did was setup a camp as close to town as I could along the more commonly used
'paths to destroy missions'.
As I sat in my camp people were constantly running through it as well as several
people stopping to chat a bit, or even bring out the pet/droid they forgot to in town.
In only a few minutes I was getting max xp for my camps!
Worked like a charm just outside of Coronet!

A few tricks. The 'improved camp kit' has a radius sufficient that you can place it next to water and stand just within it and fish, if you get the right spot.
Otherwise, stand with your toes touching water when you deploy the camp. It'll deploy underwater and you can fish anyplace.

My favorite camping spots are near theed bridge...(mentioned numourous times) A lot of traffic there but not a lot of people staying for extended amounts of time. I also really like Fort Tusken on Tatooine. It's a good hike to get out there but there are usually a number of hunting parties that are accumulating all kinds of wounds. When they are done fighting, your camps (especially the field base) are a sight for sore eyes. With a field base up you can usually get a very large group of injured individuals spending a lot of time in your camps.
Camping is only part of the equation though. To get through the last few boxes in the ranger tree you really have to craft. I turned on the "practice" mode option and crafted field bases til I worked my way up the tier. I'm not sure if the "practice" mode granted additional xp like it's supposed to, but at least my inventory didn't fill up. Don't forget to turn practice mode off when you need to replace your camp. And REALLY don't forget to turn it off if you need to make traps to go hunting.
