Thread: HUGE BUG: Rangers run slower then anything else
I read a post about this before, and I didn't think anything of it. Now I too know the horrors of this bug. My character has Wayfarring II, not the fastest, but pretty fast. Yesterday I was flying around, up and down hills, very fast, like I am supposed to. Today I run in slow motion, even burst run is slow. I go slower then people who have 0 exploration skill. This is unequestionably a bug. This bug is irritating as hell. I can't run from creatures when I'm dieing. I can't run to creatures to help my friends, so they die. I can't travel quickly, so I waste time.
Fix the ranger class - at least make it function properly. This bug could not be _THAT_ hard to fix. So fix it! Please!
(angry)
Also check your terrain. I noticed when I'm running on a beach with just sand I feel slower. I determined that it is because of a lack of relative objects. If trees are flying by and grass etc. you will get an increased sense of motion and speed.
I often felt like I was running slower when coming out of a burst run then before I initiated the burst run. If speed is 100% then you burst run at 200% it feels like I'm running at 80% for a while after coming out of BR.
Holding a rifle or carbine makes you run slower. True or False?
Holding a pistol makes you run slower. True or False?
Running with your armor on makes you run slower. True or False?
I am curious because I also feel like I have been slower lately.
i got this too today .....my run speed was walk ..and my walk was...ugh...slow
....then i died ...and couldnt move at all ...WEEE
yeah was fun..ahah
I did just take cover. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHh
Has anyone looked in the ranged forums at the Dev responses?
I can sum it up "We love you ranged, don't every change, oh? You want a new gun, a new move, something hard for us to do? You got it!"
GRRRR
And I don't see any posts about the stat migration bug, which is probably affecting 90% of players.
I'm a novice ranger half way through all 4 trees.
I noticed my slower running a few nights ago. I use a carbine and have no take cover. I rebooted several times that night thinking something was wrong, but it didnt fix it. Last night, while running across Naboo,I would run faster up and down mountians then across flat areas.
It isnt just a terrain detail making it look like you're running slower either. I would target a critter and run away from it watching the distance meter. When I'd run up a mountian away from the critter the distance meter rose a lot faster, quite a lot faster.
I cant even keep up with my Dewback anymore. When I signal it to attack, I have to run forward immediately to ensure I'm within the 30m range for XP before we kill the critter.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Taelana

I had the exact same pro0blem GrokLorn. To get out of it, I hold the SHIFT key down and move forward 5 feet or so, then release the SHIFT key while still moving forward. That usually fixes the problem.
Or remove/change the key for run/walk toggle from your key mappings. I dont really see the point of walking so i got rid of it.
