Whats the best way to go about getting xp for wilderness survival? Is it just sitting in a camp for hours?

another way that i found is to go on a hunting party, don't do any of the actual attacking, but set up your camps where they can attack from and if you are close enough you can still get the harvests.

While on those big game hunts on dath...collect a ton of hide and bone and do some craft grinding, that way it seems less tedious.

What I did was camp, watch futurama, change camps, watch something else, change camps...do homework heheh...

"do homework heheh..."

That's the key for me. Also, I picked up Artisan (I'll drop it later when my advancement in Ranger/Rifleman eats up more SP) and do some surveying/crafting, if only for gits and shiggles, and you can sell the materials ya get for a little extra cash. Or, you can get those annoying metals and polymers ya need to make traps to grind trapping xp. Or you can make yourself a new shirt. Ah, yes, the beauty of campfire crochet.

As others have said making large quantities of your best camp kit, whilst sitting in your best camp works ok. Disband and erect a new one every 20 minutes or so.

I simply grind through Camp Crafting while waiting for the mold to grow at my campsite. At wayfaring 1 in practice mode you get about 100 survival xp per camp you craft. As if nobody knew the formula already: YOu get 2 xp for every 1 unit of resource you use...plus about 5-15% if you craft in practice mode...

I macroed myself through wilderness XP. Basically created 11 camps , placed them all in my f2-f11 slots , and wrote a macro that cycled through them. So on days I didnt really want to play SWG, I was still logged on camping away. The only thing you have to do is every day, make more camps to be placed in hotkeys. Or another idea is go to Tatooine, outside of Tusken Fort, lots of people could use the extra healing abilities of the Ranger camps. More people, I think you acquire faster XP.

Yeah, I use a macro while I'm at work or sleeping. I used the examples in the sticky's for a guide, particularly the one that suggests using a Pet to activate combat....hmm...its no longer sticky. Well, anyway, I realized that you dont actually have to be *hitting* something to have your camp become abandoned. So the following macro was born. I added the various text messages so when I check in on it I have a clue where in the cycle it is. I'm getting about 1k an hour with this using the basic camps, and right about 1800-2000xp with multiperson camps.

Setup - Call a pet and group with it. I also have it set to Guard me, just in case something pops up. Get your camps in allhotkeys except the top left one (F1) and 22 and 23. Put this macro in F1.Point yourself at an area that consistently has spawns of anything you "can" attack. You wont actually *be* attacking tho. GO!

Wrinkle - I also have a survey/sampling macro running. Its looped between two macros in slot 22 and 23. Thats why the first command is /stand...in case I'm sitting due to the sampling macro. You gotta be standing to drop a tent. But this macro will still work perfectly if you're not running the sample macro. Rumor has it that you get better XP when you sample in a tent. I'll paste the sample macro's at the bottom.

For those interested, its easy to add new pane's to this. Since you're using about 3 tents an hour with this, you'll run out of tents a little faster than once every 55 minutes (at best only 23 tents, my way 21). So if you need more than7 hours camping, look up and use the UI Action command that switches the toolbar (not sure exactly the syntax...something like ui actionToolbarPaneXX) and duplicate exactly the setup *EXCEPT* you'll have to add a special macro in slot 21 that will rotate the Pane and hit F1 on the new pane. This way the F1 macro as its last step will call the macro that changes the toolbar pane and calls the F1 macro there. You could get about21 hours out of this setup with only 3 panes used.

ALso, I do not use any healing while afk. I was gonna use the /tendWound thing to heal the action damage I was taking, but its a pain, and the mind wounds and BF aren't worth it. Its possible the XP will increase dramatically (and therefore speed the cycling of tents) , but honestly, I just dont feel like testing it. If I wanted to really power through Survival, I'd get a bunch of people to hang out in the area with me and just chat it up while going through the tents. This macro is a little something to speed it up while you aren't around, heheheheh. Well, when I say "not around" I mean not actively staring at the screen because we aren't supposed to leave the game running unattended, are we, heheh.

Heres the sample macros I put in the last 2 slots:

One-

/pause 3;
/stand;
/pause 1;
/sit;
/pause 30;
/ui action toolbarSlot23;

Two-

/stand;
/pause 1;
/sample;
/pause 3;
/stand;
/pause 1;
/sit;
/pause 30;
/ui action toolbarSlot22;

THe only thing that sucks about the sample macro is that you move as you stand/sit. So you will fairly quickly leave your tent area. So whatI did is tell my pet to Stay, and then I /follow it. This way I never go more than 5m away from it, and its standing in the middle of my camp. BUT, this also means that you will often not be able to sit down because the process of sitting moves you about a half meter backwards, and if that takes you too far away for the /follow command, you will stand back up and take a step closer to your pet. But if you Action stats are high enough, the sitting isn't as important anyway. My action needs to be pretty low, so I use sitting to get back the action I lose sampling.

I did the camping line in scout the camping way.

I did the camping line in ranger the crafting way.

It took far less time to get the ranger one than the scout one. If you have the money, I suggest buying cheap bone, hide and metal to supplement your current bone/hide harvests and just grind out your best camp. It will go a lot faster than waiting on your macros to finish camping for you.

4 crafting kits and you can spit out about 7-8 field base kits a minute for 1246 to 1424 xp in practice mode (per minute.) You can go through Frontiering III and IV in about 2 hours.

Okay. I spent 15 minutes in a camp, did nothing more than craft one High Quality Camp and heal my wounds. got 1005 survival xp.

Spent 15 minutes in another camp. Crafted Hight Quality Camps non-stop for about 11 minutes of that. Got 894 survival xp.

So... you gotta stay the whole 20 minutes for this crafting/camping thing to give a benefit, or what?
