Thread: New Skill Requirment for Ranger
Helios - We're going with Carbines IV & Exploration IV for now.
Currently I am Master Ranger and Master Rifleman and removing the Master Scout requirment if great in my eyes but requiring Carines IV is not a requirment that I would like forced on me. I would suggest that the requirment be either Support IV or any one for the other 3 weapons ablitlies.
Any thoughts on this?
actually it makes more sense for ranger to be melee proff requirement than ranged.
1h sword would be nice. you know, stealthy guy needs to kill silently hence the knife?

Even as a carbineer I am against the carbineer pre-req, I can se the argument that if we double up with prequest of BH it is unbalancing skill point wise. But why take that out on rangers? After all BH's have the scater gun, and the lightning rifle, (and the proton carbineer, but lets not count that), so making THEM require the pistol or rifle lines instead of range support would be more logical, and they need both rifle xp, pistol xp, and carbine xp.
Rangers have as much a right as any other profession to choose what kind of elite combat profession they wand to stack with.
And a scout pre-req like 0404 scout, would help much either. The a ranger with that wand the extra TN that just about everyone wands and perhaps even a bit of harvesting skills, a ranger could end up whaving to have scout 4444 and thus only save 6 points.
No if they are to scared of Ranger dabblers then I say keep the Master Scout pre-req, and just severely compensate us in terms of more combat mod's then any other profession, and perhaps even some self only healing to make up for not being able to add in medic.
I know that will not happen, but I am tired of it being Ranger that has to pay for all the bad design decisions that was made months ago in the CU.

as i said, that's if they plan on making us a hybrid. It is unlikely that they'll make us a melee hybrid. I still prefer the idea of exploration + trapping, but I'm trying to find a good solution. If we do ranged support and trapping, melee people can use their combat profession to get combat xp, rather than have to use a carbine.
in the end though, I'm guessing that Ranger in their eyes, will be leveled up with carbine XP.
That is the crux of the problem what type of XP will Ranger level with.
Leveling with scout would take forever, now imagine leveling Ranger with nothing but combat XP.
Nevermind it would take forever to level Ranger but my god can you even think how long it would take to get 1,000,000 combat XP for Master Ranger.
If you want to prevent FOTM go ahead and make Ranger, Scout anything and Ranged Support 4 and then require Combat XP to level Ranger with.
Better yet create Ranger XP and make people run missions over and over see that FOTM go right out the window.
This is something I had not even really thought about what XP will level Ranger?
Scout, Carbine, Combat, New Ranger XPor all of the above?
