Thread: How can Master Rangers say scout xp nerf is ok with a straight face?
Not only Master Rangers, but those who already maxed scout xp. How can you seriously tell those of us that have yet to max scout xp the xp nerf is not a big deal when you reached the top with the current requirements? Can you honestly say you would be praising the nerf if you were still trying to get your lines up? Some of you will say yes knowing you will never have to do it. I question the honesty of the answer though.
Almost all that I have seen saying the nerf is ok have already gotten there! It does not affect them in the least! It is insulting to me to have someone not affected tell me it's not bad, lol.We are talking about an extra what? 120,000 scouting xp?? THat is alot of hours added to making Master Ranger that YOU did not have to endure. Please do not tell me it is an acceptable nerf.
120,000xp=2857ADDITIONAL blue con's at 42xp apiece I have to kill that YOU did not. So spare me, ok?
I know Master's must be happy with the additions and I don't expect you to care about the xp nerf at all. Because it doesn't affect you. But I really do not want to hear anymore of you telling me it is ok. It makes me want to vomit.
Back to racing the patch.
Well it's not exactly like i'm jumping on my little feet going "YAY!", but i must admit that scouting xp gets racked up pretty quick. When i was done with all my scouting xp I only had one box in Pistoleer, and thats for using a pistol from day one - so compared to other elite professions we have much less xp to gain - or have a lot easier access to it. Now i stil only have 2 lines in the pistoleer tree- and i've been done with scouting xp for 1½ weeks, picked up CH (another 100k+ scoutxp) and have around another 100k scout xp saved up. Now if I really went griniding it would take me atleast another week to get master pistoleer. So compared to ranger i got all my scout xp 2½ weeks before i could ever hope to finish pistoleer - this is from using pistol from day one. Also consider in that time i've mastered Scout and gotten all the scout xp for ranger - thats 2 professions i've done while my pistoleer isn't even half done.

Umm, the FIRST other change in addition to requiring more exp is that they are going to give scouting exp for crafting traps and tents which we never had. Considering the number of traps and tents I've crafted and how many times I let someone build apprenticeship exp from training me in Engineering II (General crafting exp) over and over until my racked up artisan points were gone, it should provide a considerable boost.
The SECONDsignificantfantasticchange is that when grouped all the scouts will be able to harvest from the same creature. Creature Handlers, Bounty Hunter, Ranger, Squad Leader, Master Scout -- scout isawidely requiredbase class, and it sucks being grouped and having (several) greedy, newbie scoutplayers with a CDEF, set of crappy starter clothes and a used toothbrush that ninja-harvest all the dropped corpses on Lok, grabbing 225 scouting exp at a time whenthey shouldn't rightfully even be on the planet yet. (Extreme example, but entertaining to write). Now they are fixing that so that all scouts in the group can harvest the same corpse at 60% efficiency. It's a MASSIVE change for all of us that are still working on scouting exp.
Beforewe cry "nerf", first see what else the devs did to try to balance it. I think it's reasonable to step back and be fair on this one.
and arenty they giving us an additional 140k scout exp to endure(Rangers thats), i think i heard that in another thread
And honestly i got Hunting4 and explore4 insanly too easy and knew at some point it would be changed. If it will make you feel better ill go out and get 120k more exp of scout afteri master ranger..shouldnt take me more then 4hours
I built 10 camps one day to finish off Wayfaring II and get a nice Ranger camp. Later I hooked up with 8 friends on Lok. None of us have master weapon skills or even close, so I can ASSURE you, you'll be pitching tents like... okay, this metaphore is going in the wrong direction, but to give you an idea of what 8 beat up people in your Ranger camp can do, I was 1/3 towards into Wayfaring III after 3 hours. That was honest camping exp out of necessity, without the grind!
It's really cool being the only ranger in your guild ![]()
I had 2 boxes in Ranger as soon as I had enough prentice XP for Master Scout. ATM, I have 1 Box in Rifleman, 6 in Ranger, and I have been working towards Rifleman since Day1 (I kinds just wandered into ranger the way I play, since I am the Bio Harvestor for my PA (well, it'll be a PA once they fix the **edit** facotires...bah). I'll probably STILL not have enough Combat XP for my forst box of Special Abilities when I am a Master Ranger, even with the changes.
I like Ranger, and think I'll love the new changes. Also, the tracking will make getting XP much easier too, as you'll be able to hunt the beasties that are optimal for you. That'll cut down on our time. Especially on the harder planets.
Trapping is still ridicuslously easy with the right group. I was teamed with a Master Dr / Pistoloer who could spam Knockdown (because of his enhancements) and just kept lobbing one of each of 8 different traps until one of each stuck, then killed the mob. Lather, rinse, repeat. Got a whole bubble in about 40 mins.
And please note, I am less than half way to Master, so the XP change will affect me.
At first I read the changes about needing more XP....I went to the skills box and looked at what I currently have.
Wayfaring 3, Frontiering 4, Field Bioscience 3, Trapping 4
So I have 2 more boxes that I need to work on before this change goes into effect. Right now I need around 60,000 Scout XP. I was a bit mad when I read the changes......for a few seconds.
I love all the changes and I dont mind the increase. I could probably get the 60k I need before this change comes to us live but if I dont get it...I dont mind. I am truely excited to see what the new changes bring. I am a Ranger...I will get to Master Ranger eventually but for now I am just really looking forward to the tracking, concealment...and the other changes to come. I dont mind if it forces me to play a little bit more with a profession I am truely excited to get into.
Doesn't bother me at all, and wouldn't bother me if I wasstill anovice scout either. Scouting XP is quite easy to get, though not as easy as Trapping XP, and I'm happy that the Wilderness Survival will be easier to get, and happy with all the other improvements.
