Thread: How can Master Rangers say scout xp nerf is ok with a straight face?

Whats a blue con? Oh yeah thats what noobies kill.
Serioulsy though, If you are killing gnorts to powerlevel scouting exp then you are in the wrong class. Use your traps and combine with your other combat skills and try to kill something more challenging and the scout exp will come easy and you will have more fun.
kthxbye
Delta,
Doh! Guess I didn't see this before I posted something similar somewhere else here.
This is yea another reason I /nominate Delta as one of the possible Ranger correspondents to replace Minearas, as I totally agree.
I know I left a few others out that I already feel would make good correspondents.

Not only Master Rangers, but those who already maxed scout xp. How can you seriously tell those of us that have yet to max scout xp the xp nerf is not a big deal when you reached the top with the current requirements? Can you honestly say you would be praising the nerf if you were still trying to get your lines up? Some of you will say yes knowing you will never have to do it. I question the honesty of the answer though.
Almost all that I have seen saying the nerf is ok have already gotten there! It does not affect them in the least! It is insulting to me to have someone not affected tell me it's not bad, lol.We are talking about an extra what? 120,000 scouting xp?? THat is alot of hours added to making Master Ranger that YOU did not have to endure. Please do not tell me it is an acceptable nerf.

I know Master's must be happy with the additions and I don't expect you to care about the xp nerf at all. Because it doesn't affect you. But I really do not want to hear anymore of you telling me it is ok. It makes me want to vomit.
Back to racing the patch.
We aren't getting all excited or anything, but in all honesty, it should have been this way from the start. I got Field Bio 4 and Wayfaring 4 in hardly any time at all - certainly much faster than Frontiering (I am only about 1/2 way to Frontiering 3 atm). Trapping also gets racked up very quick.
It looks bad now but believe me, when they start letting more than one scout harvest the same kill, you will be surprised how fast you will gain that xp.
if we are talking blue cons i kill LIGHT BLUE cons for 127 scout expa piece......1hit kills each time....
Its your choice to fight small con enemies or you could group up kill big ones and make it fast that way too ( as long as the group is big and full of non aspiring BH's)
Ways to combat the nerf....
1) QUIT KILLING MOBS THAT GIVE 50 SCOUT XP !!!!!
2) Goto Dathomir, Dantoinne or Endor with a group and get them to let you harvest.
3) Collect the 400-500 scout xp that the mobs give you and then give what you harvest to the group leader for distrubition...
Enjoy....

Yoda has a point here.
It WAS easier for those of us who decided that we wanted to become Rangers earlier on to do it. After the patch, the XP requirements will be raised to make it more difficult to do so. These changes will bring scouting in line with the other professions that require significant amounts of time to master, like Squad Leader, Rifleman, etc.
Yes, nerfs suck. Yes, it will be harder. But there are two fundamentally important reasons for this.
1.) Rangers are now going to be a significantly more attractive class - With the additions of /conceal, /areascan and the new traps and camps, a significantly larger amount of people will be becoming Rangers. In order to keep this profession from becoming the next CH, increasing the XP requirements will ensure that Rangering remains "pure" - only people who WANT to be Rangers will stick through it. Others, who just want the benefits, won't bother.
2.) This is a reward for those who started Ranger early on - Those of us who are Masters started this profession when it was nothing more than uber-Scout. There were no wonderful new skills to make us different. We lobbied hard to get the changes that are being proposed, and this is our reward.
Don't think of this as a knock to newer players. It is simply the way things are with MMORPGS - those who get in early will always have the advantage over those who get in late. As the professions reach something more akin to equilibrium and the exploits and bugs are worked out, everything in the game will get harder for newer players. But there are many things that will be easier - the economy is working, there are high level weapons available, knowledgable players to help teach and train, and many other things that weren't available to us when we started.
So keep your chin up, Yoda, and keep plugging. You'll get there soon.

lol, the funny thing is, even killing the easy creatures (cappers, f.e. chubas) for the explorer missions, I can easily get 5-6k of scouting XP per mission along with all the hides and the reward money. I usually use my spraystick as it is quicker than running to each creature with my sword and can easily polish of 45 of the little nasties in about 20-25 minutes depending on the spawns. I get about 42 scout XP from each creature but it adds up fast when you're killing 100+ of them in a short timeframe.
Sure, it's slower than going out and doing white-cons, but you can do this non-stop without having to heal. Plus it's fun and since thats what this game is about, I don't mind not getting MASS amounts of scout XP. I know I'll be a Master Ranger eventually so it doesn't bother me that I'll need the extra XP.
The Key Point is:
Each scout in a group with loot permissions for a corpse may harvest from the corpse. Harvested group kills yield 60% their normal resources and xp, but may be harvested by each scout in the group.
Scout XP will be even easier to come by now. Large groups can take down a huge number of mobs quickly.Your XP per hour on Adventure planets will be through the roof! This is the reason for the change! Sme reason the Camps are using more resources, to cut down on the glut of hide and bone!
ill drink to that!

Naboo - Fambaas - Root, Snare, Warning Shot or even better faction NPC's to tank for you.
505 scout exp per kill and 505 trapping PER TOSS!!! (I was trapping 3 the minute I trained Ranger)
Dantooine - Bolls - 566 scout exp per kill, 566 trapping, Tons of faction NPC's and agrressive creatures to tank for you.
I know every planet has big mobs that are suseptable to traps and NPC's to tank for you. They give huge scout and trapping exp and with our new Camps you can get over 1000 wilderness camping exp in 20 min of camping if you get people to stop by and visit
I am not worried even a little bit.
