Thread: Social creatures

So, Nraas and Delta, have you got any words from the devs regarding the new BAFing creatures? Is it a bug, as somewhere was mentioned? Or is it intentional? Or maybe a little bit of both?

And if it is intentional: would it be possible to get some feedback on why it was implemented?

Considering it is quite a major change to the game, and since it came totally unexpected, I feel some clarification on this would be a good thing.

Cheers

Mem,

I'm still trying to clear this up. It looks like it was intentional, but I don't have a reasoning.

We have a meeting tomorrow night. I'll let you know more after that.

Blah. Used to be able to solo a famba on Naboo, not so fun now when the whole spawn stomps my butt. Please mention to the devs that this change is making the game less easy to solo the wildlife, which is a pretty large part of what I and others thought rangering was about. And I'm not dropping my combat to drag around rancors or something. The smaller critters who are now social can be worked around somewhat, but fambas? Come on now...

Hehe, i still solo fambaas, but it takes longer time, and my percent of incaps has been slightlyhigher....

However, i dont really feel this change has made the game.....well, harder/more difficult/more of a challenge to play, just less fun, and i guess that saddens me a bit. But who knows, in a month or two maybe we will have the much antecipated lure-trap to counter this situation with, and hopefully that will mean that the game will be both more fun and more challenging.

Delta, good to hear, im looking forward tothat.

Delta and N'raas,

Please be sure to mention that not all the rangers are rifleman so not all the rangers dislike the new social behavior. Some of us melee types like it very much as it gives us more chance to exercise our AoE special attacks. Personally I like it and would like to see it stay.

"Please be sure to mention that not all the rangers are rifleman "

Since both DeltaXi65 and I are Melee fighters you should have no concern regarding us pushing for equal treatment for Meleers.

And i dont get why you don't agro all creatures with a CDEF pistol if you want to kill 10 fambaas at once.

Any news after this meeting?

As I rifleman/wookiee I takea hell of a pounding if a group of MOB's attack me. I just don't want to be forced to get CH and pets to carry on solo playing, at least until warping and all the other issues eventually get fixed.

I'm sure this will have an effect on the amount/qualityof resources out there for crafters too, with rangers having to be more selective of the crittersthey hunt.

Actually, it's not so much having to be selective as to which creatures you hunt but how you hunt them. I'm a melee ranger but I still use traps to pull whenI don't want to fight multiple opponents (rare, but it happens). My traps ARE my ranged weapons with a 50m range. And if I throw my trap into a crowd,I get the exact same result you do when you shoot into a crowd; the whole lair comes running. So when I just want a single, I wait until one of the creatures starts to wander away from the others. It doesn't have to be a long range away, just far enough so that it won't draw the others if I attack it. It takes practice and patience to figure out that range but being a patient hunter is what a ranger is all about right? If you don't have patience, go be a commando.

Anyway, my point is that instead of just assuming that you'll never be able to hunt Tortor's or Famba's again, just hunt them smarter now.

Patience huh? Nice when it's an option, but when you have 35k of hides to deliver, natural selection gets old.

Amen Vaalenko! Really if you want all the non-socials to come at you at once, shoot 'em. As for me, I like my non-social critters toremain non-social.
