Thread: Anyone want to be a Jedi??
I was getting my daily laughs by reading the Jedi forum. Seems as if most of the people who do find a holocron are getting told to master some gawdawful profession totally away from what they like to do.
So I will pose the question - You are out there doing Ranger stuff, and find a holocron, which tells you to master another profession, one that you would not be happy in. You gonna do it, or stay Ranger and play on?
Personally, I am not looking for holocrons, and if and when I do find one, and it tells me to master hairdressing, I am blasting it with my best weapon and driving on with Ranger. I can see playing on as an Antarian Ranger, but having to give up a profession I truly am having fun at, so sorry Charlie, not gonna happen.
That being said, I also wish it to benoted for the record that I said a while back the missions/badges stuff was useless in the Jedi quest. Lo and behold, I was right. Can I have my cookies sans milk now?
And no, I am not hiring myself out (prostituting myself is the clean way of saying it) to Mo-rons looking for holocrons.
JB
smile, it makes people wonder what you are up to
I'm just gonna sit here and do the same thing I have done the last 4 months , Kill creatures and dabble in PVP.
If Holocrons are the Key to becoming a Jedi then its a joke. That skrews every non combat class out of it. Its not like Mister Commando Is just gonna give a Holocron to the lady dancer. LMAO Ya Right.
If the drop rate is even messed up for a little bit , the whole **edit** game is gonna end up with 12year olds running around whinning about how they can't force push like in jedi knight.
Now all do respect to those that will seek out the profession for valid reasons
(aka not Uber l33t crap I m gonna pween everyone in PVP)
If i ever Happen to get one sure I will use it, with my luck it would say I need to master Image Designer, In which case I would Grab about 200 screenies of it and Laugh and Not DROP ONE **edit** skill point for it. I've worked to hard to get where I'm at right now. If I wanted to be a Jedi, I have games I can play on right from the start.
my 2 cents
JB and Glaza I agree with you both. There is no way I am going to throw all my hard work for Ranger and now CH just to become some other profession. Knowing my luck it would be dancer. Not to flame them or anything but I would have quit SWG right there on the spot if that was the only profession I can have.
As much as I desire to become a Jedi, I would have to pass if it told me to Master a profession that I could not (due to lack of skill points) or would not (being unhappy in) master.
I am very happy being a Ranger, and look forward to starting our group of Antarian Rangers on Lowca.
I do not play SWG in the hopes of one day becoming a Jedi. I play it because I've been a Star Wars fan from the moment I sat in the first row of the theatre watching the opening Scene of "A New Hope": the small and defenseless Rebel ship being persued by the impressive and powerful Imperial ship that was so large it took forever to fly over your head. That one scene told you everything you needed to know about the Galactic Civil War.
I love playing a Scout and now a Ranger. These professions allow me to explore worlds I'd otherwise only see in the movies. I like playing a support role in a group; laying traps, setting up camps, providing cover fire from a distance, etc. Once I get beyond my current Ranger levels of 0/1/0/1, I'll be a more useful tracker in hunting parties. And, of course, if Jedi need my assistance I would help them without question (literally, I don't really care how they got it and in true roleplaying a Ranger wouldn't ask a Jedi "so, what steps did you take to unlock a skill you're supposedly born with?").
I'm in no rush to max out my skill points. I'm playing for the journey, not the finish line. If I'm eligible to train in a new skill, I'll take it. I can always surrender it later and, who knows?, I may find my game-play leaning in that direction. If I find something that unlocks my Force sensitivity and says I need to take up a new profession, that's a decision I'll make then. Chances are I'll just hold on to the little bugger until I'm ready for a change and then it'll be a good excuse. ![]()
Zingonia, Tempest
For me, it would depend. If this is, in fact, what holocrons are saying, and not just a stupid rumor, it would depend on one thing: would it have to be on that same server or not.
If I got a holocron that said "become a master dancer" and that meant I had to turn my Master Ranger/Master Rifleman into a Master Dancer, I'd say forget it. But, if I could go make a novice entertainer on a different server and work my way up to Master Dancer, I wouldn't be completely opposed to that.
"would you instead be able to just create a new character and persue the master profession that way, instead of dropping skills on your ranger?"
No... That new character would probably have a whole different set of randomly chosen professions that it would have to fulfil for you to get the Jedi Slot. ![]()
"If Holocrons are the Key to becoming a Jedi then its a joke. That skrews every non combat class out of it."
The Holocrons are not key persay...
- They simply give the player a clue as to which profession their character would have to have mastered to open the Jedi Slot.
A personcould open the Jedi Slot without the use of a Holocron by simply mastering new professions until the slot was opened. ![]()
- However, using the information provided by the Holocron would make the journey quicker.
I'll blast that holocron to bits. Actually, I'd sell it for some insane amount. BUT, as a side note...
I just leveled in BH. I thought it'd be fun, for kicks. Plus, I heard there was jedi bounties in the future.
THAT is a great idea. Imagine that, getting blown away by a guy who plays, oh, say maybe 3 hours a week, after you've quit your job, lost your friends, forgotten to shower, mortgaged your house, all in the name of mastering hairdressing to be a jedi. LMAO great fun, I can't wait.

Speaking of selling a Holocron for an insane amount..... THATS EXACTLY WHAT I DID!
5 MILLION credits to be exact no more credit worries now.
So do what I did find a semi-crazy Artisan and sell it to them high.... oh and if the low-ball you tell them not too Reinforced Laser Shank you ( thats Lokian Prison Talk) then they'll think you are tuff and either tell you, that you are the worst Role Player they've ever met or boost the price ![]()
You know I've been Star Wars Fan since I was a little boy, and being Jedi was the main reason I wanted to play this game when it came out. Once the bomb was dropped that most people wouldn't get a chance at Jedi, I decided to olook in to other types of characters. I started of as an Artisan so I could make, money that got boring real quick because of the grinding so I gave that up and started to persue the Scouting profession because of all the other Professions that can branch from it.
Scouting was a lot of fun, and I met more people in a week in Scouting than I ever did being an Artisan. Once I reached Master Scout level I had A Choice, go Bounty Hunter or Ranger, also had the option of CH & BE. I decided I'd go after Ranger since everyone and their brother was a Commando or a Bounty Hunter, I wanted to do something Different. How Glad I am I made that choice. Ranger while not perfect is fun, and I see it having a lot of Potential. I also just startred picking up CH, and that's pretty cool.
Point is WHo needs Jedi when there are so many other professions to master that are just as Fun. I don't think I'll ever Persue Jedi unless being Ranger get's me there.
