Thread: Special ranger/scout armor

I was thinking that ranger profession could be so much better when i had an idea while reading a thread on RIS armor.

I myself think that RIS armor looks like exactly what a ranger would wear and it hit me that rangers should be given a special armor that added Ranger bonuses.

I myself would really like that armor to be the RIS armor, to revamp it and to toss it out to the Ranger proff as a bone. As we all know, we need one, and I know many of you want actual character skill fixes and improvements but atm with all the other fixes they are making, how many people would like to have a special armor that adds bonuses to out skills.

I originally made a thread like this on Test center but I would like to hear your feedback, the Ranger community.

And as a note to all that read this, this is just a suggestion so dont come at me with "there are more important fixes" because I KNOW THAT!

There is a MAJOR problem with this: if they give us an armor then every other profession will want theirs. Bounty Hunters will want their Mandalorian that they think all BH's should have. Commandos will want their super-armor. Crafters will want something. I say keep armor generic. Besides, except for Leather Armor, most Rangers in most genres of most games have never been big on armor. This is the only game where Rangers run around in Composite armor.

Good idea, but would cause a huge mess.

yea your right, I hate it when you can tell what people are by their equipment (besides something like a rifle lol).

RIS armor looks to klunky to ge for a ranger. i wouldnt mind Ranger being able to craft a Gillie suit that would make us harder to hit, but having a armor made for rangers wouldnt work well IMO.

lol, I guess I just had it in for haveing RIS when I started playing. When I saw the strategy guide in EB and took a look at some of the professions, I saw Ranger and the picture next to it was a guy in RIS. LOL man oh man I wanted that set of armor

I finally got my RIS helmet the other day, and its not bad at all.

The resistances are 48% and the ham is really really low. (The only prob is that its red and with my green clothes and armor, i look like a christmas tree lol)

I am not really impressed with the armor per se, my composite is much much better in terms of protection, but for style...RIS armor is really nice. Im just not sure i would pay what I paid for style over function. I have a lot of armorsmith friends and I constantly do favors for them...maybe someday I will get the full suit too.
The first day i wore it, I got over 40 tells asking me what it was...so be prepared lol

I agree, I barely wear any armor. I'm a master ranger/rifleman and I wear just enough to protect myself.

Armor?

I was given a Ubese jacket during the re-do of the rebel theme park. Fire resistant and all. Wow. Won't wear it unless I am in PvP. Then it may last one battle.

Armorsmith who I helped make master, "I will make you a great set of ..." Thanks for the kind thought, don't wear it. No use for it. I use traps to keep critters off me, or heal myself when I can't.

Armor may be good for PvP, but in PvE, I don't see much of a use.

I find Ubese GREAT in PvE, if it is made right. At 72% Kinetics that can keep most critters from hurting you to bad, even without buffs. It is awesome for leveling too.

To me Ubese is exactly what a ranger would wear, it doesn't look to heavy or bulky(except maybe the helmet) and provides decent protection from kinetics(claws, punches and the sort).

I agree...I have a helm and body Ubese and have a macro to "armor up" whee it is needed and it does help. I had the helm sliced to reduce the mind cost.

Sorry, I also dont like the idea of having a class specific armor. I am a Wookiee so I cant even use armor, so I use a black trench and a Wookiee Sage hood. As close to something I think a ranger would wear being in the wilderness all the time

You have something there.. a nice Gillie Suit with Ranged and Meele defence..
that would be something that was fair, but again we could be the only one
to craft the Gillie Suit but others could wear it as well.. the we get a new
way to make some extra cash and others wouldnt be so freaking mad cause then
they could just buy one if they really wanted one?

i liked that idea

I would expect a nature-near wookie to wear no clothing at all (actually I would expect the majority of wookies to wear no clothing at all).
