Thread: Special ranger/scout armor
Personally I don't think a Ranger/Scout would really wear much for armor. They might wear something to make themselves harder to see or detect though. The Gillie suit is a good idea, but it's essentially what our camo kits should be doing for us. A Gillie in no way should reduce damage, but should make us harder to hit from range. It would have no effect in melee. Heck, it might even make us easier to hit in melee. I've worn one, they're not comfy.
humm...... I bet none of you can guess where the gillie suit came from originally{answer down below}
Skotish Deer hunters wore gillie suits while hunting deer to help break theyre outline.
Forgot if it was first intraduced into WAR in WW1 or WW2 tho.
This brings me to the point o I think a gillie suit would be a great ranger specific clothing that only a ranger can use, because a gillie suit isnt all that usefull if you arnt trained in the use of itand trained in camoflague.
I think instead of camo kits a gillie suit for every planet would work out much much better just make them decay and loose any effect like any special clothing and have them use flora instead of meat,hide,and bone because those dont make sence unless your hiding in a corpse of a dead animal that is. so my ideas for the day
1# Replace camo kits with gillie suits
2# Make camo kits like special clothing{when condidion hits 0 they lose all theyre special effects}
3# Giilie suits decay{goes with above}
4# Make gillie suits use flora for crafting{unless you want us to hide in piles or flesh and bone}
Well even tho these are all about the same thing they where all seprate ideas thought about at different times{well mostly}
doo on 2# I accidentl said camo kits instead of gillie suits just replace camo kits with gillie suits lol my bad.
Excellent idea on the Ghillie suit. I don't know about having to get flora in order to craft it, but definately use something that could be foraged. A true ghillie suit is made out of some synthetic material for the base suit, then covered with "foraged" plants from the surrounding area.
However, plants that have been ripped out of the ground don't stay green for too long at a time. The suit would end up turning brown and not blending in very well after a couple hours. So it's something you would have to keep applying to the synthetic suit like the camo kits. Having gone to sniper school and having a ghillie suit of my own, I LOVE this idea.
Yup. I did the same thing. I traded my PA's Master BE a few thousand untis of top-notch meat and bones he needed for some clothing with MaskScent, Camo and Melee/Bleed Defense. Better than armor for me.
