Ok guys, with the latest CU patch comes a change that was prety much unexpected and im not sure what to think.
- "Changed camps to require and grant scout xp rather than camping xp"
Id like you opinions on this change. Do you want it? Dont you want it? How does it effect you?

As it allows you to fill up the Frontiering tree without placing a single camp I think it's rather silly. Sure camps are not very useful but doing this is just one step away from completely removing them altogether. I would much rather make camps more useful and beneficial to others too, thereby making the existing wilderness survival xp easier to get.

Well, I'm sure every one of us while working through that last box of survival xp was thinking "this is the stupidest, most pointless box to grind!" Why? Because there's not much point in camps. Period. How often do you hear other professions going, "Dang, it would be really great to have a camp out here!" It doesn't happen. Hence... the death of survival xp.
Do I think this is a good thing? No... Getting through the survival line is a lot about saying "yeah, I did it, and I worked hard to get this master scout/ranger title".
What would have been preferred, as opposed to the "easy" way out (as in ways to shut up the people complaining that the xp is too hard to get) would be to make camping something special. I believe there have been enough posts on these boards from people with ideas on how to improve camps, that any one of those would be an improvement over just getting rid of survival xp and making harvesting enough. Anything, from the cloning center idea to letting entertainers mind buff in camps, would increase their value and give people more of a reason to work on that survival xp.
I suppose it doesn't affect me, though, now that I've already mastered ranger... but they did just take our profession and dumb it down.
Perhaps someone else could take what I've written and word it more clearly... just my thoughts on it.

I don't like it.
I feel that it removes some of the diversity and fun factor of leveling the Scout\Ranger profs. It feels strange being able to gain the Survival line with out ever having to drop a camp. And I don't like having to focus so much on one type of XP that is so dependent on the Coning of creatures.
I also like geting some kind of XP for Scout/Ranger crafting. But if this crafting gives me Scout XP people will be able to craft grind three trees of Ranger and Scout. I like that even less.

I have to go a little JB on this... If we ask for this change then we better be prepared to take responsibility for it down the line.
I like the fact that we have skills that are hard to get. A lot of bargaining potential when it comes time for revamp. The more they do now, the less likely they are to do anything else in the future.

I don't like it for purelu selfish reasons.
I am force grinding the Luck tree. So the only XP I have to convert into Luck is Scout XP and Survival XP.
Scout XP nets me 22,000 XP every time I visit the village.
While the Survival Line nets me 32,000 XP. Yea its a grind but grinding out 160K of camps a copuple times a week has taken some of the burden off.
Now stepping back and looking at it.
Well camping is mostly useless, it serves very little purpose. We are not going to see a major fix regardless or whether it stays or changes anytime soon. So what does it hurt?
It makes it easier for a noob to master, so what?
How many people right now really want to master Scout and Ranger beyond the die hards. So why make it any harder on the die hards?

In my honest opinion?
I hate this change...
I mean, we do use camps (even if they are useless). It's called _survival_ xp for one thing.
Now it's removed and it's called SCOUTing xp (withing RANGER trees)?
Next step: remove camps (no more survival needed?) instead of making them usefull.
I foresee a black future....

Allowing people to level 3/4 Ranger by crafting does not do much to aid our "we are combat" arguments - don't want ourCL taken away now we just got it!

So is the whole point of making the professions easier to grind to somehow make up for the fact that if you want ranger it'll be the most expensive profession in the game SP-wise?

My PERSONAL opinion is that i hate this change. I believe it degrades the profession and opportunities we have for the future.
I like my camping and i like that i am recognised for my camping by getting xp for it (that and survival xp). I (personal opinion again) would like to have survival xp added back into the game and assigned to the frontiering tree as it currently is.
Its not a hard grind and if you have fun with it then its enjoyable too. People are proud to be master rangers because of the progression they made leveling up through the ranks and frontiering/survival has always been an important part of that.

I must agree with others here that this change isn't really a good one.
The same reasons posted before, I agree with - getting through the survival line is a badge of honor. To get through the tree not putting down one camp is dumb.
As far as our camps in the CU - I have a feeling they will be used much more often, since a camp is a logical meeting place and they help some with agros (not a whole lot I guess). We may actually get a chance to use them
