At higher levels of rangerI think we should have the ability to set up a personal camp. One that I may call my home for an extended period of time. I Should be able to store my supplies and lead hunting parties out of it. It would be like my house, but for gods sake I am a ranger and I dont want to live in a brick and mortar house. I chose this profession because I am a loner at heart. I like to be self sufficient.

I would like to be able pay maintainence fees and keep my camp there when I log out just like others do with their houses and factories and such. But I would also like it to be more mobile. Maybe for a price or a time penalty, let me pack it all up and move with the Swallows to more fertile ground.

Maybe I can set up a camp in a particularly good hunting spot then head into town, advertiseand lead hunting parties. Provide food and shelter for my party.......

....be....

A Ranger!

GREAT IDEA. A Base Camp like you see in National Geo.

I like it

I thought this was a cool idea too... until I started to feel as though this may take mojo from Architects... I mean,, their entire class is about building perma structures... so if we can make perma camps... its defeats some of their skill ... which is not fair from a gameplay stance...

I DO however... like the idea that High Level camps should appear on the Global Map (similar to how venders do)

If you have a Base Camp (basic or advanced) it should appear under the Global Menu so that others can see where you've set up... this wouldn't require any huge code challenge as you are basically doing the same thing as a vendor.

That way... people could look under the map... select Hunting Parties... and it would say... Zarn's Base Camp and it would show the waypoint to my camp..

NOW THAT ROCKS!!!

Great Ideas!!!

This is such a great idea! Seriously it is one of the best ideas I've heard to date for improving any profession. However I disagree it will take away from the Architects. I would bet my credits that most people are not Rangers. Thus since this ability would only be given to Master Rangers, you wouldn't really be taken a lot away from the Architects, as long as these camps can't be sold to anyone (and they shouldn't be). This should be sole property of Master Rangers only, and of course people are free to stop by. The Master Ranger could in affect have an administrative panel like a house which determines who can go inside the tents. The tents themselves can hold items, acting like a storage (similar to a house). The Ranger would get XP for each visitor that comes in, as long as that visitor stays for XX amount of seconds/minutes. Actually scratch that, there's no need to get XP once you're Master. LOL

I think the key to it is making the camp appear on the Global Map... this would be SOOOO good for gameplay as it would help build groups and community ...

Just think.. you can log in... check the map to see where your favorite Ranger's base camp is.. and you could start to build a raport with the group that meets to fight from that base camp... its just a brilliant benefit to help get people to group together...

I was thinking in the lines of the camp could be erected and broken down without it vanishing and having to build a new one.Perks/functions to addor not, depending on how gameplay would work:

  • No auto-disband. Breaking down of the camp would occure on command only.

  • Auto-disband might possibly extend through logout. Your camp would be where you login.

  • Crude port-a-turrets. Like the ones in JK2.

  • Extended radar with a small "watchtower"

  • Containers. You must empty them, however, to disband. Lets be real.

  • Tents you can enter (and put things in, like Houses). Would be nice to get out of the rain and Wookies have a real problem with those rickity lawn chairs.

I'd have to bet dropping rules for such a camp would work like a small house. It may be, also, that you would need assistance of an Architect, perhaps they make them and only Rangers (Novice and up in this case) use them. This would hold the balance of the occupations in check, as I feel such a camp with ALL these features would be beyond just a Rangers ability. The other camps could remain as they are and add this ability to the Architects tree. It's just that only a Ranger can deploy it.
