Thread: BH Correspondent trying to make Ranger less valuable.

Ffolks, he's trying to remove one of our abilities which makes us valuable in groups. Our camps are not that much better than scout camps, but they are still requested by large groups for the faster healing and size to have everyone fit. I care less about skills like trapping as that's more of a solo skill. But if groups will be able to use BHs rather than Rangers for the large camps we loose one of the few reasons groups want us.

And yea, other professions want this too solusandra. But usually the correspondent is aware of that they can't get something close to as good as ranger camps. And the BH's currently DO get something from scouting.. the wayfaring, traps and camps. If they do not think scout is needed this means they do not like the camps.. and therefore why would they now request better camps?

Wepps said:

"It is not in my interest as the Bounty Hunter correspondent as to what effects another profession. It is only my interest to address the issues of this profession alone. I don't care if medics or rangers would be mad about this, that's too bad. I don't find them rushing to my aid in the game, I don't expect them to be accompanying me to the boards here either."

The problem with comments like this from a correspondant, is as a representative for a profession, he makes them all look like morons. I personally wouldn't want a correspondant for my profession making comments like that and I personally think Wepps want BH's to be the sole UBER class.

That being said it is only one person's opinion and although he does speak for all BH's, he is NOT ALL BH's. Arguing that the EU or other literature is evidence for reasons for anything is bogus to begin with. This game is an Adaption of the Star Wars universe, not star wars verbatim.

Take his ranting with a grain of salt. Look at CH, they were overpowered and were changed in the name of balance (nerfed and everyone has a pet). Giving the power that Wepps wantsfor BH's, is detrimental to what SOE wants for this game. Diversity and balance, and without that they will lose customers fast (even faster then they are now).

Still with what he said, I would ask him to step down if he was my representative...

Why do they call it a "monthly" storyline, when you can finish it in 2 days. Shouldn't they call it a "2 day storyline, every month"?

because as we all know... BHs are just not powerful enough as it is. Not only should they recieve better camps, traps, and terrain skills, they should also get their own deathtouch, refreshable every 0.112 seconds, with no HAM costs.

*ponders irrational people*

I'll save the flame on Wepps, because no good would come from it. Thankfully, the devs are no where nearstupid enough to entertain such insanity. I've read the BHforums; he wonders and cusses about why they won't listen to him at all. Hmm....

(notice how I also spared you the /eyeshot rant)

I am with Quas on this one...it is absolutely ridiculous of any BH, especially their correspondent, to suggest that they should get any of that. It continues to amaze me that they want more than they already have. It seems that they want to be all powerful Supermen...with guns. And then they cannot believe why so many people are annoyed by most of the BHs.

*shrug*

From the time I spent on the BH board, most of them consider anyone that isn't planning on mastering BH a dabbler, including their correspondent. Ignore the fact that you have to master two professions just to qualify to be one or that the game is specifically designed to allow us such flexibility. Admitting as much will get you ostracized there.

Whereas on the Ranger board there isn't any hostility that I have noticed if someone only wants to take a line or two. Whether a novice or a master, we consider them a Ranger.

Chalk it up to a difference in what types of personalities are drawn to each profession. Our respective correspondents are such because they are a part of their profession, so it isn't surprising that they have similar traits to their constituents.

Don't worry, Quas, Wepps isother suggestions were BH tracking for players, BH medical skills, BH brawler skills, and a whole bunch of completely retarded stuff that will never happen.

Quas,

I don't disagree with you. I too am rather mystified why a solo BH would want a camp that is so obviously meant to benefit a group. Being both a BH and a Ranger I rarely use the camps I do have, and they're only the basic scout ones.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that they want a more powerful camp for the solo MBH on par with some of the Ranger camps, not a group camp per se. So perhaps the caveat there is, give them a better camp but make it only benefit them individually, not a group. I don't know. I do think, however, that the intention isn't one of 'give us the Ranger camp'.

Cheers,
Ffolks BH/Ranger

I will admit that I have not fully looked at the BH profession and it's skills in a while. But I do know that they have to master scout and marksman to start BH. Now master scout has a lot of good things already. Traps, and really all the good traps, seeing as Ranger traps are currently worthless. They get +50 terrain negotiation, which is the max for running. They get the multiperson camp, which is of decent size for a small group, even though a BH on the hunt for a mark should not be in a group.

The marksman profession gets lots of goodies too. I have 4.4.0.4. The ranged support alone has some helpful specials in it. At master marksman you get a ton of skills and bonuses, and specials.

Then they get BH which is the be all combat class in the game. It has been since day one, and IMO commandos come in second. But that's OK with me, they have to give up 3 of the 3.5 professions they are aloud just to get master BH. That master BH can solo nearly anything in the game, owns PvP, and thus can make tons of money just off of missions. And since with scout he can harvest the hides and meats from the high level creatures he can solo, he can even more money.

So there might be some areas in BH that need some fleshing out, but they do not need any of the things listed in this post, or any of the things in Ranger. Peroid. I would love to have Group Terrain Negotiation you know for Trail Blazing for the group, but it's a SL skill, and I don't think it's balancing. Most all the advanced elite professions need some enhancing, but it needs to be new, unique things, not stuff other proffesions already have. If they want some ranger abilities, let them spend the points. Just like we get told when we want eyeshot, or /concealshot, or group terrain negotiation. Spend the points, that's what the game is designed around.

Hmm, Rangers and Scouts play in the weeds. BHs play primarily in the cities, except when the mark is in the middle of no place. Why in the hell so they need Ranger camps, let them heal in cantinas and medcenters or in ther Master Scout camps. According to Yp, they are so powerful they are taking down mobs and harvesting way more than we can anyhow... and now they want our camps too. They have all these "investigative skills", snitches that are now freaking labeled cuzBHs were so flipping stoopid they couldn't find em with two hands and a flashlight.and they want areatrack. Give it to em, and they will whine they want waypoints to the mark using areatrack. Mark my words.

Oh for the days when rescue could be used to mess with their lil pointy heads.

"Ultimately, any changes to a profession are determined by the devs."

Exactly...

We already know that the developers are rather stubborn and have their own ideas about how the game should progress.

I'm surethe Correspondents can influence the "vision" somewhat...

  • But I doubt we can push them in a completely different direction.

Of course, if the developers do decide to "diverge" so massively...

  • DeltaXi65 and I will be certainly be there to return them to the proper path.

really read the BH forum... Wepps is a tool. He has no clue in reality, he thinks that a master BH should be able to kill anything at anytime without taking damage because you have spent all your skill points in one spot.

He also seems to belive that if anyone has another elite profession they should not be allowed to dabble in BH. but he wants to have all of thier skills without paying for them.

PleaseNRass and Delta, please dont let BH get such things, it will strip out our profession of their uniqueness and diferentiation. By all means, dont let them do this.

Help usNRie Deltawan Kenobi, you`re our only hope !!!! :-D

ANYWAY,I must also say that the kind of things that BH are trying to do with our profession has actually been also attempted by some Rangers itselves when trying to take away the group terrain negotiation from the Squad Leaders.

Personally, I think that is fair andOK that Squad Leaders get to boost the group terrain negotiation instead of Rangers. It actually makes sense that a guy who has leadership abilities is able to lead the group into negoitaing better the terrain. If you guys want, we can request that the presence of a ranger in a Squad Leader leaded group will boost even more the groups overall TR. I support the suggestion that rangershould boost and make better Squad Leaders but by no means we have the right to take away fromthem one of the few abilities that they have and that is actually working. They are already a sadly weak an broken class and we shouldnt attempt to debilitate them even more than they already are.

By the way, I AM NOT A SQUAD LEADER AND DONT HAVE THE INTENTION TO BE ONE. I am just a ranger who thinks that if we dont want a BH to take our nice camps and our tracking skills, then we shouldn t be attempting to doexactly the same with Squad Leaders or any other profession whatsoever if by doing so it would debilitate them and strip them away of their unique abilities.

The BH Correspondent is once again trying to devalue other classes by trying to get even more abilities added to BH. Most forums and classes got members that want loads of unrealistic things added, but usually the correspondents are wise enough to know what would hurt the game, another class or in the long end their own class. Unfortunatley Wepps do not, he's been suggesting BH's should get medic skills before.. and of course also wanted the Ranger NPC tracking (which I can understand from a RP perspective), but now they also want our camps. The following post was not made by Wepps, but you'll see he supports it in several posts while telling me to more or less get the f**k out and go back to my own forum.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bounty_hunter&message.id=77354

novice BH camp idea: i see a bounty hunter camp as small maybe take up about the same area as the survival 4 camp, but with improved healing and argo prevention.

a single large tent something the size of a novice ranger camp.

master BH should be as effective as the top ranger camp. but still small in sized. maybe just add the little lasor fence and a canopy over the middle area where the camp fire is.

One of Wepps comments...

It is not in my interest as the Bounty Hunter correspondent as to what effects another profession. It is only my interest to address the issues of this profession alone. I don't care if medics or rangers would be mad about this, that's too bad.

FONT color=#ffffff>As he unfortunatley do not mind at all stepping on other professions I believe it's up to us and our correpsondent to do what we can to counter this and any other dumb ideas from Wepps that will hurt our profession. The BHs are not making more friends with a correspondent like that who apparently does not care about who he steps on.
