Thread: BH Correspondent trying to make Ranger less valuable.

*Takes a deep breath*

There is no reason to get upset. Seem like something odd to say?

Ultimately, any changes to a profession are determined by the devs. They can read our feedback, discuss things with us, decide a few of our ideas are good... but really, they'll do what they think is best for the game, overall. At least, that is how I hope it goes.

If you notice, the concepts of camps seems to be popular... Squad Leaders like the idea of having some sort of fortification, too. The members of these classes want their class to be desirable -- just like we want Rangers to be a strong, desirable class. I don't find this thread surprising... it is logical that someone would present this idea. Camps are desirable. Smile, Rangers. You though your HTFB was just eye candy? Looks like other classes think it is a little more than that

I do find the interest in it a little surprising. How will all of these ideas help them track down marks? Isn't that what the profession is about? *Walks away from that.* The investigation line of bounty hunters needs a lot of improvement... lets hope the devs focus on that before any of these other ideas. That being said... I can understand BH's feeling like they mastered scout to little effect.

I feel people are stuck in the one profession mind set. They see something they like in another profession and can only think, I want that too! SWG is not set up like that. It is designed to allow you to pick and chose what skills you want and dabble (though dabble seems like a bad word to a lot of people). The fact that you can not have everything is balancing, and forces some hard -- yet interesting -- decisions. Characters can have a lot of variety based on their skills. I don't see the devs handing out things like camps to every class that asks for them. Just like I don't see them giving us everything we ask for, either.

I'm a pistoleer in addition to a ranger. The bh vs pistoleer flame wars are really trying and really detract from the forum, in MY opinion. I would really encourage us to NOT get too involved.

I could be totally off-base, with too much faith in some "dev vision" for classes in this game -- It is all just opinion anyway. Yes, I'd be a bit put off if Bounty Hunters got some of these ideas passed through. Nonetheless, they are free to explore ideas and if their correspondent presents them, I trust N'Raas to present our point of view.

thanks for the info.....

Personally i think its a bit unprofessional when I see a correspondant bashing other professions merely for the benefit of his or her own.

I hope that this is merely a fevered dream of some squeaky wheels in the BH community and not the majority. If it is a majority issue, then my solution is to have them be able to use our HTFB's and we can sell them to them at 3000creds a pop. That way we both get what we want and we get rich doing it..

heheheh

If we wanted to stoop to their level, we could always request Ranger only weaponry which would allow us to kill Rancors in three or four shots... mission pay-outs that net us about 30k an hour... invulnerability to PvP as we are a PvE class...

Oh yes... the list can continue, and the war of the rants can last till the end of time. But the reality is this: The Devs act as "The Force" in SWG. True balance is the main focus here. And it is tough to balance out a class that is meant to be a deadly force to be reckoned with - without unbalancing the rest of the game. If the Devs think that BH's are too unbalancing -- well... that's what a nerf is for.

Guys,

First of all - please don't troll the BH boards.

Wepps has enough trouble with those crazies over there - he doesn't need us coming over there and stomping on him for suggesting things that may or may not involve skills that are in the Ranger trees.

That being said, I have hada conversation with him on the Correspondent's forum and he understands where we're coming from.

As for the Devs - they have made it repeatedly clear to everyone that their goal for SWG is to make a world where no single player is totally self-sufficient, and where no player is totally all-powerful (except for Jedi). So you don't have to worry. I will say that with 95% certainty that the Bounty Hunters won't be stealing any of our skills away. The Devs aren't going to start parcelling out the best of each profession in mini versions to the other ones.

Wepps is just doing his job - he's passing along the requests of his members to the Devs. If the requests are a bit off the wall, or stupid, they'll filter them out. But don't go over there and cause him more problems. Just let N'Raas and I know, and we'll keep an eye on it.

I think we've got a pretty good track record in that regard.

Wepps can have my camps if I can have his LLC.

Hey Delta Xi65 and All Rangers

I'm the main opponent of the idea that Wepps supported about Ranger camps. You guys may have seen me post in this (the Ranger) forum as well. I just wanted to say that Wepps views don't belong to all Bounty Hunters. I am a Bounty Hunter and a Ranger. I took ranger for the better skinning and Creature To-Hit and the better camps. I took BH for carbine and LLC. I picture myself as an old school Long Range Recon Patrol type character from Vietnam, and I really am praying I can be in the forefront of boarding partys when the space expansion comes out. Anyway, It would be incrediably beneficial to me to be able to get my camps from the BH class. I could afford to give up the skinning and to-hit bonus' and shift my skill points to another class. This change would be wonderful for me. But I don't want it. I'll spend the points in Ranger because that's where those abilities belong. I've got points in medic as well.

In short, I WANT TO BE THE UBER WARRIOR! But I don't want to take away the specialness of any other class to do it. BH's deserve their own UNIQUE advantages. So do Rangers, Carbineers, Pistoleers, Riflemen, CH, CM, Doctors, BE, DE, SL, Chef, Architect, Dancers, Musicians, and all the other classes that aren't popping into my head. Please don't judge us all by Wepps.

"It is not in my interest as the Bounty Hunter correspondent as to what effects another profession. It is only my interest to address the issues of this profession alone. I don't care if medics or rangers would be mad about this, that's too bad."

Comments like this aggrivate me. It's totally un-professional to see a Correspondan make comments such as this. It's not only self centered, but pretty ignorant as well. Basically, he is saying...."We should own all the other classes, what i say should be, and if that pisses everyone else off, i could care less because i got what i wanted", and he just says it in a nice way. Adding "Thats too bad" to the end of that statement shows his non-professionalism.

ACorrespondant should represent their profession in a positive way, and should also recognize what will affect the other professions as well. If it effects the other professions, then it could effect the entire game as we know it. They should be the ones that can read between the lines, and figure out "yea thats a good idea, very unique to our class" or "No, this won't work, this will affect the others Medics/Rangers/ect." Clearly that's not what he is doing, and it seems as if he could care less.

SoonBounty Hunters will be asking forJet-Packswith the ability to fly around and drop seismic charges on the entire city of Mos Eisley. As if they arent powerful enough as it is, they just want more and more, well heres what i have to say about that...E Chu Ta!!

Inky,

And that's exactly what I jumped on Wepps for.

His response was basically to ask for our help, because he is overwhelmed on his boards with negative whiners, and he doesn't need our members (Scouts/Rangers) coming over to attack him when there are plenty of BHs willing to do it.

I agreed with him, and that's why I went over there.

So he knows that what he said wasn't diplomatic, and he apologized for the tone. He's not going to come over here, and I understand that. If you want to see the Amstel Light version of Hell, go check out the BH boards. (The Budweiser version is the CH boards, and Guinness is Jedi. ).

Joth,

Don't worry - we don't think he is speaking for all of them.

I'm sure there are Scouts who don't feel that I speak for them, or Rangers for N'Raas.

My main concern is to make sure that everyone recognizes that Wepps has a responsibility to present ideas of his constituents to the Devs, even if he doesn't exactly agree with them. I've done it, and so has N'Raas.

So I think what he said was fine, but my concern was how he said it. But we fixed it.

No offense, but even Bounty Hunters dont respect Wepps. Two in my guild had an anurism when he was announced as their correspondent.

I appreciate Delta and Nraas' input. I hope you two continue to keep things in perspective regarding abilities in a chosen profession. Bounty Hunters are already pretty close to "uber", and don't need our abilities to add to them.

Btw...Sbjnyc.....LMAO!! "Wepps can have my camp if I can have his LLC". ROFL

i am a ranger, and i have a great deal of love for the profession (was up to 4-1-4-4 at one time), but i'm also a bounty hunter (2-4-4-4) and i can sortasee both sides of the issue.i don't think that bh's need a special camp - the scout camps we already have are more than sufficient, i think and if not i have no problem keeping at leastnovice ranger even as a master bh, in fact, i intend to do so regardless. however, i can see the use of pc/npc traps for bh's, which could be seen as infringing on ranger territory. in fact, i think that they belong there more than they do in ranger - ranger is not humanoid-focused so much as creature focused, imo, whereas bh is focused on humanoid tracking and elimination. our investigation line gives us nothing in return except the ability/necessity to kill over 300 10k +ham npcs. the only benefits in the investigation line that we receive are directly related to finding npc marks to advance further in the line. it would be called for, i think,to include some kind of npc/pc tracking/trapping skills in the line, since bh doesn't otherwise build on the scout skills we have to get before hand anyway.
