Thread: When are we going to get a Dev response?

I have but a few minutes, so yet another hit and run .....

  • I miss Nraas's bullets. Had to say that.

  • Can we all do The Wave for Calc and Delta. We got TH to become a Ranger

  • While rangers might not be in The Movies, we are a feature in the EU, and AR's are a class in the WotC RPG (you have all seen the links by now I hope )

  • Don't become like the children that play BH and Jedi... I could not take that...

  • However, don't give up on pestering. Just make it so that any argument they come up with can be logically countered (this is how I came up with my Stealth proposal.)

  • We DO need at least 2 things NOW: Increase in harvest and restore the camps to some kind of usefullness. Some might not call it a nerf, but would a nerf by any other name smell as bad? Re-enable the agro defense or make it so we can fight w/o it disbanding. btw, it needs to have an increased radius so I can fish too

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

You will get the love. I am working on it every day. I know you hear that a lot, but the facts are is that this takes a long time. Until I have news I can depend on, that ismy answer. We have Publish 8 coming to TC, theLive Events team is working on some things and I'm working on professions issues. Whn I have something dependable, The challenge is that it's a big game to work on and then we have the Space Expansion coming up.

We did have a meeting today and I fought hard to get the combat balance put back on the plate. By my reckoning, it represents about 35-40% of the player issues. Would you say thats a wrong direction? I'm always open to ideas that speak to the most players at any given time.

the problem with the fact that it takes you guys a long time is that people dont care how long it takes, they want it now, myself inculded, and many are begining to leave the game. care to reply?

On Game Immersions, how would you suggest that? (Im not disageeing, Im just curious)

Immersive gameplay resides in each individual profession. This is where the content is, like in Bounty Hunter, in applying the purpose of the profession to an innovative missions system...for everybody.

Content, for example, does not reside in the Corellian Corvette, noble attempt as it is. It is fun, it is diverting. But it is only 1 quest.

Recurring quests that address each profession's unique purpose, this is recurring, immersive, and fun content. (in theory)

Players look forward to this game, to live in the Star Wars Universe. They identify themselves with their characters, but those characters have no true purpose, and therefore no immersion or content.

Will these harvest droids use the controlling player's Hunting skill to check for quantity? Will they transfer the harvested goods to the player, or need storage space of their own (and thus need to be emptied)? Will the remote-resource-spotters be able to tell us what meats are present on other worlds, to give the same (apparent) boost to ease of use for finding high quality resources without having to travel to all ten planets and sample one of everything?

First, TH, thank you for your post, your professionalism, and your continued good humor. Thanks as well to the correspondents for helping to get his attention here briefly.

"My question to you is, some day the Ranger profession will be done. What should it look like?"

To echo what others have said, read the Outdoorsman proposal. Better yet, read the planned additions to traps and camps that the devs said 8 months ago were going to be added to rangers. Do the devs keep no internal record of things like that? Even phrasing your question like "do you still want the lure traps and hunting blinds we mentioned before?" will show us that each relevant dev actually knows what other devs have been saying to us in the past. Just imagine eating at a restaurant where you knew the food took time to prepare but was very good, yet the waitress keeps taking your order repeatedly and then coming back again to say, "now what can I get you?". Then you'll have some idea of how we feel.

Thanks for posting but honestly why ask this question?....How about continuing to push for things that are told to the community i.e. false promises

Time to bring this back up. I want this thread to keep us in the hearts and minds of devs. Devs, think of this thread as a reminder to keep up communication with Rangers, so we don't fall by the wayside again.

Bah. Why wasn't this long term stickied. Trust me to be on a three week holiday and then completely miss this post *shakes fist at sticky master*

Thanks to Calc, Delta and TH for the effort on this......well maybe not TH seeing as he only had to type a few lines of rubbish and politicise them a bit, put on his imaginary ranger hat and repeat the word "love" a few times *shakes fist at dev like political hat wearing hippies*

You're right, this should be stickied. This is the only Ranger thread that a dev has participated in for about 6 months. Besides, a lot of good points were made here.
