Thread: Naysayers get PWNED
espionage would of been good ![]()
Steeling sounds criminal like when infact what they have planned for us is much like covert opps going in to gather intel etc. Spies ![]()

On top of that, this really makes for new and potentially *very* interesting skillsets. Ranger/BH, Ranger/Smuggler, Ranger/Commando all really take on a new level with these changes. What I think will be especially interesting will be the Ranger/Squad Leader. With SL's weapon certs and combat mods, if Rangers get a similar level, that combination could be a viable PvP template. The two most ignored and long term gimped professions finally coming into their own and making an interesting template. Wait and see.

I'm mulling over this 'stealing' thing.
I don't think they should have called it stealing... i would say stealthed equiptment removal.. or something like that... look for a change there i bet.I assume since its more combat classed that we will get mods for combat.
Infiltration would be more in keeping.
Heh, am thinking more along the lines of SOE in WWII, observing, gathering intel, getting/copying documents, feeding it back to the military/industrial combine...
Leesen carefulleh, i weel say thees only wance...
To the people who are complaining about the "wilderness" aspect of Ranger no longer being in Ranger, did I miss something?
It looks like that, aside from AreaTrack and Camo, all the Rangery types of things are getting migrated over to Scout - so for you outdoors types, you just drop Ranger, and now you can be all "outdoorsy" without the need for more skill points.
So what's with the belly-aching? Ranger is only a name.
Sorry I'm late on posting. Naysayers might've gotten owned, not that I was one, but I think we all just got screwed. I'm rather displeased with even this initial redevelopment. Not happy...
more to come when I'm less angry.
Just thought I would bump this. Too important to not be on the first page.

Naysayers????? You're losing your profession as you know it.
How is losing the profession that you RANGERS have so loved, to something completely different, a win for you?????
The naysayers Phenix is referring to are the people who said the revamp would never happen. He's NOT talking about people who don't like the revamp, as they are entitled to their opinion (the community seems to be at a 50/50 split with this at the moment).
The reason why a lot of us aren't too bothered about the complete shift of defining roles in the profession is because Ranger has always been Scout+. The fact that they're moving everything but tracking into Scout is great news since we can be Master Scouts and still have our "Ranger lifestyle". Think of it as a huge skill point reduction with the only downside being that we can't track anymore. Plus we get this brand new profession to play with
Well congratz on a 2 year wait.
Oh and one day the earth will be hit by an asteroid that will end life as we know it......any naysayers??????
On one hand I'm sorry to see the wild-outdoorsman role diminished, but what they have done sounds a lot of fun. Actually with the use of technology involved it does seem much more "StarWars'y" than the current version of Ranger.
I agree with most others that I don't want to loose tracking. I'd rather keep it in it's current "dodgy" state rather than loose it all together. I won't really miss forage or rescue though.
The one thing I'm waiting to see about though to decide whether it's a fair or fantastic revamp: Combat mods ! If we're not brought upto levels of professions like Smuggler or Combat Medic (at least) then I personally wouldn't find the new skills viable to have - I'd feel too vulnerable to have them.
Also, I hope the new modular traps work against creatures, and we could therefore get biolink samples from them.
It'd be nice if the harvesting skill mods in Scout are contained in one of our prerequisit branches. That way we're still primed for going after creatures aswell as humanoids. - Best of both worlds.
While I maintain a sceptical aloofness to what any actual changes will be to the profession, I am excited by the new changes but disappointed as well.
1. The Ranger lifestyle is demoted to Scout, a starter profession. What a kick in the teeth. Its not about content its about pride. I've played SWG for a year and a half, as a Ranger as it was the only profession I was interested in playing full time. With all the bugs, I was waiting and hoping for a revamp. What a disappointment to find they decided to change the whole profession. Yeah it was not high tech enough but SW is scfi and they could have added some tech toys to aid, cloaking device anyone?? But wait, that's what they intend to do, a holo projector and everything!! Pity they now turn the profession into a wannabe Commando from the WWII archives. Minefields?? But lets at least give it a chance before claiming the end of the profession.
2. The new skills seem great, a new introduction to the game as a whole and could be a blast to play. Not exactly what I wanted for Ranger, preferring the PvE to the PvP, but it looks good for what it is.
What really disappoints me is the aggro I've read on these forums since the revamp announcement. What the hell happened to the mature and good natured community the Ranger forums used to be??? The sniping/flaming and general bigotry between the two camps (Ranger= paramilitary and Ranger= Hunter) is depressingly like other profession forums. What a real bummer.
Lets keep it clean folks, bloodstains are so difficult to remove from the carpets!!
