Nope they're all only stat mods. No damage, no wounds.

OK, fine. I'll leave it alone, but the entire situation still sucks gronda booty-hole.

By the way, I read your RTF proposal for Ranger, and it was good work. You included a lot of detail and justification for the changes, and that's good, too. I hope "they" listen to you.

Well, then the descriptions are wrong. My apologies for trying to use traps I'd never used as examples. But this does indicate that at one point they were intended to do damage. NRaas? Is this a bug?

I disagree unless they changed something since I last used the bone spur. Back when I was a scout, I made lots of bone spurs and used lots of them for their ability and effectiveness at causing dammage.

When it comes down to it, Ranger is playable without even equipping a weapon, but the vast majority of players who are Rangers, also combine a wepon profession to compliment it. And think about it, even if a ranger chooses to follow the completely nonviolent path, would he realy be worth his salt if he didn't at least know how to kill when it is necessary in a pinch? I know I'd be ticked if I went on a safari in africa and my guide (ranger type character), when we are surrounded by a pride of lions, screams like a girl throws some goop at them to slow them down and runs in the other direction.

Even if not all rangers follow the combat path, most of us do, thus a skill like this makes sense.

"Image Designers should be able to craft a Disguise Kit, and use it like we use a camo kit."

Well... I'm sure that would make Image Designers happy.

Though I never said how it scans you. Perhaps it uses a x-ray imaging device to detail your bone structure. Yeah that's it.

"you'd be suprised how people seem to want to do things with a system that was never part of the original system design "

Aye, you would be surprised what some of my users think up.

Man...now you're just messin' with me. I think that the covert scanners actually have telepathic Jawas inside.

Got me. We can all attest that the descriptions have been wrong before.

Anyone else want to attest one way or the other on this one? Or is the damage just so small no one notices?

[Edit: Changed intent completely. ]

I know for a fact that I have incapped/killed already severely wounded animals by hitting them with a trap.

Maybe I will try hitting a baby gorg with a bone spur and see what it does in the combat window. I really think it does damage... just not "large amounts" of damage as indicated in the description.

I second that. Altho small. I remember using one that reduced Mind. I then considered whether I wanted tocontinue using it, I haven't since. I'm pretty sure that it was a scout trap tho.

Bone spurs and another trap (I think it's the noise maker) cause low amounts of damage to the mind pools. I used them a lot since I was working on Rifleman when I first started.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Nraas,

My suggestions regarding conceal are two fold:

1) Animal hunting conceal - Keep animal conceal the way it is, but make it a bit easier to find the ingredients and make it so its based on a simple timer and cannot break in combat.

2) For PVP, instead of going to great lengths to make the ranger physically invisible, simply make his dot on the radar invisible to players of other factions! This would have nearly the same effect of being stealthy as anything else we might ask for and would seem simple enough to code. (if Ranger, dot = no)

Let me modify that proposal by saying that it should be a master level ranger whose dot does not show to the opposing faction, not just a ranger in training.

The problem with the not appearing on Radar is it makes the Ranger unable to be attacked. Much like the "white dot" issue that BH's are facing with Jedi's, having us go white dot or invisible would make us invinsible. Thus, the Devs would have to revamp the ENTIRE combat system just to give us this ability. This same proposal comes up every so often and people keep coming up with it. But thereis ABSOLUTELY no way to give us an ability like invisiblity on Radar without a HUGE revamp. Long story short the dev responce is gonna be: "not gonna do it...wouldn't be prudent."
