Ranger/BH for the tracking abilities on players and NPCs, but the single profession to benefit most from ranger has to be rifleman - bonuses to cover, a little bonus to ranged defence, increased crawl speed (great combination with sneak), camouflage and maskscent which both help in sniping without getting aggroed... A ranger/rifleman is a great addition to any team, and a very effective solo hunter - a good rifleman can take down a kimogila solo (with a lot of patience...)

Master Ranger

Master Scout

Master Rifleman

4000 Marksman

1000 Medic

I absolutely love the template; can effectively hunt anything, enjoy all the benefits of the Ranger, can still heal myself, and I feel like a real hunter, ploughing through the wilderness, rifle in hand.

I must admit I spend vast amounts on the best weapons I can get and all manner of chef buffs, but it's quickly recouped in sales of monkeys.

Oh my Gawsh!
Thar's gonna be a baby leezard Rangah!.

Right now I am working on Master Ranger/Master TKA, and Medic 0/1/0/0 (or whichever tree helps you heal more, I cant remember). Im actually still only a scout and brawler, but I have only been back for 2 weeks or so and I had to start over since I deleted my characters when I quit. I have medic solely to reduce downtime and nothing else, I hate having to stop fighting after 2 critters to wait for my HAM to come back, so with medic and stim b's I can hunt as long as my mind holds out.

I was kind of thinking about trying out CH, but I'm still not sure. I will probably end up sticking with TKA for the time being.

I agree as well - Ranger/CH/ and either pistoleer/rifelman.

You can use the CH skills to tame cowardly gurreks and then resell them to non-ch characters. For some odd reason, everyone wants a cowardly gurrek as a pet..

Im doing this right now..
Here is what I plan:
Master Ranger
Rifleman (Sniper 4/0/0/0)
CH (Pack Master 1/1/1/4)
Novice Medic

Having my Tusk Cat at my side while hunting is awesom (only need to dawn the armor when this get bad). Throw a trap tossing MSE driod in there and you got a hunting party!

Good Hunting!

Like two days ago, I decided to complement my ranger and pistoleer skills. As of last night:

Master Scout

Master Ranger

Marksman 2/4/0/0

Pistoleer 0/0/3/1

Brawler 0/0/4/0

Medic 0/1/2/0

I'm dropping rifle skills and medic skills as I grow in swordsman. This way, I can get as much damage mitigation as possible. I have ranged mitigation 2, and I want to get enough swordsman to get melee 2, but I don't know if I can. We'll see what happens.

I'm a Master Fencer who is beginning his career as a Ranger. Fencers are great at PVP and PVE from my personal experiance. I have beaten Master TKAs and Commandos along with othercombatprofessions. But I have also been beaten by those professions in turn. It has always be back and forth. My respect goes out to all combat professions. I believe Ranger will be a great asset to my character's growth and game experiance. I am willing to see how this combination will work out for me. I trust that it will work out extremely well. I have not seen a Ranger/Fencer yet. I can't wait to finally make Novice Ranger and begin to actually play a Ranger, not grind it.

Greetings,

I tried the CH thing a while back - enoyed the heck out of it but as someone pointed out earlier it became a bit boring, and the cost of credits and time to heal the pets was draining.

Decided to give TK a shot and it made all the difference in the world. My style is strictly PvE - head out to the boonies and whack everything in sight between point A and point B. Even the crap meat will go for 10cpu or better. TK has upped the harvest rate at least by a factor of 5. Whack whack, harvest. Whack whack, harvest. Rinse and repeat. With all the defense mods gained from TK the armor has sat in storage for months.

Now when a really good meat/hide spawns I can collect in an hour or two what used to take me all day to collect as a MCH. And with the meditate can heal wounds/poison without having to run to a doc. Only time I need to run to town is to hit a cantina to get the BF taken care of.

Cheers,

Drala
