I think this has been said before, but it's worth saying as a reminder.

From the revamp proposal, the devs want us to use Carbines. However, because they have a large deficiency in communication skills, we don't know why.

However, instead of gating us into Carbines by using pre-requisits. Why don't they give us Ranged Support as a pre-requisit, but require us to build up Carbine experience points to progress through Ranger. I don't think this is a particularly 'nice' way of doing things, although it is an "in the box" solution which they have already used on numerous other hybrid professions. I would think the devs would find this favourable as they do like to replicate systems where ever possible.

I didn't use buffs or uber armour, so why did the combat revamp have to spoil my game?

Thats an interesting idea DaveG. But what about all the melee centric players who have no use for Ranged Support? Thats 29 SP wasted in their books!

Well Helios did state there was nothing to prevent a melee player from becoming a Master Ranger. It was just not the preferred profession and was penalized for it.

What I find interesting about that statement is that if Carbineers are being "encouraged" by giveing them a common skill line, does that mean carbineers can look forward to some ability to fire while stealthed?

Quite right.

I should have qualified what I was saying with the line: "If we absolutely have to have ranged pre-requisits, then ..."
