"I wanna be Rambo."

Sadly Rambo used an exploit to receive more skill points than available, and had to be locked up by the authorities.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

I think we need Ranger level traps that cause State affects, like Stun, Dizzy .. etc..

Sorry, wasn't at home.. and I never use the ranger traps I thought I might get burned on that one..

I guess I'm more interested in state affect traps vs NPCs.. but I suppose that won't be our department.. although a noise maker type thing should work on all fronts.. but that's just my opinion.

As I initially thought, there wasn't much controversy in this system...

Though we did sneak the modular traps system in as a subset. A much betterapproach I must admit.

Everyone can read the full request in the Outdoorsman document.

Unless there are any significant problems that were missed, I think this one debate can be closed.

Feel free to continue posting, as I read every post... But its coming down from the floats.

Seriously why should a TKA or a Bounty Hunter or a Pistoller be able to knockdown a beast that is 20 times their size. Knockdowns should be more realistic against the critters. And only the Ranger should be able to take down the big guys to their knees. TKA, Bounty Hunters, and the rest of the elite combat classes should be focused on taking down humanoids.

Great point! I can pistolwhip a Fambaa and knock him down when realy, nothing short of a500lb boulder should be able to put him down in a knockout capacity. a well planned trap on the otherhand would make perfect sense to take down a creature of that size.

I am also wondering, how would our groundbased traps affect flying creatures? there are already breaks in logic when it comes to flying creatures like a creature appearing as "swimming" while they fly over water, or getting the message "you cannot see your target" because there is a one foot tall rock between you and a giant flying beast. But will that excuse work when proposing a tripwire or some sort of pit dug in the ground? or will ground based traps only work on landbound creatures?

"how would our groundbased traps affect flying creatures?"

I go with the logic that the ground trap mechanism is amotion sensor that detonates when it calculates a creature is in range.

I'm up for the new traps. The Modular traps I concur that it's a bit much. My only beef with the idea's here is the Trap Launcher to be made by Weaponsmiths. A ranger is one who is self reliable to make thier own devices. If our HTFBK (top camp) can have crafting stations, a Dejerik Holo Board, a portable med center ect. I think we should be able to create such a simple device as the trap launcher.

I would love to be able to use a lot of the High OQ materials that other professions don't really need to make better camps (maybe less of a chance at being disbanded in combat) or for use in my traps...or the Trap Launcher ^_^.

A KD trap like Trip Wire I would LOVE to have, KD for my PvP character has proven most useful, even when hunting creatures. I would like to see more static traps, like planting them and leaving and when it is sprung get a sys messege saying that your trap has caught something...

Just throwin out some ideas here..

/Throw <trapname> command would save allot of grief from having to continually drag traps to the inventory; which causes me immense grief when grouping. The amount of times an a highlighted item refuses to drag or the item next to it moves instead is rediculous.

Traps must be able to effect high level creatures overwise they have no point in the higher end game. Whether this is done by having a low resistance debuff trap to reduce the creatures chance of resisting or by an increase in general effectiveness could vary.

AOE area to be larger, it is rare that an AOE trap effects more than one creature.

Slow trap - to reduce a creatures attack rate by say 20% to 40%.

Fear trap - effect like 'warning shot', but longer duration.

Knock-down trap - Currently a brawler can knock-down a Bolle but a trap cant.

Aye, we may be good at making traps and such...

But there is a time when a seperate must be made between "weapon" and "trap"...

  • And all weapons nature seem to reside in the WeaponSmith profession.

FMOI... Do the BH make their LLC? Or do they purchase it from a WeaponSmith?

"/Throw <trapname> command"

Actually there is a /ThrowTrap command in game... It just doesn't work.

Agreed. We can't make our own clothes, despite the fact that hides make good clothes, which are easier to make than a HTFB, but we can't take everything.
