Well, I'm not a Ranger yet. But I'm working on it. Currently I'm a TKA/Medic. But I'm thinking about dropping it all and go for Rifleman and maby some CH. I have done a few boxes in both of them before. Hehe. I think the CH/Rifleman suits a Ranger alot better than melee. What do you people think?

I say do it! It may not be the most "harvest effecient" way to Ranger (ie you have to run up to the corpse/s afterwards, or use a messy droid - more trouble than they're worth imo) but nothing beats the feeling of running round the wilds with a couple of pets in tow, taking things down from a nice safe distance where you can just about see them. I ran into Moena the other day from a quest mision (bol skull) and as I came out of the woods in the fading light on the edge of the city I watched 3-4people's headslooking at meas I ran past, and I could tell what they were thinking... Ha Ha, look at that noob! Unbuffed, no armour andwith no speeder bi.... ohhhhhhh, it's a Ranger!!
You don't get a badge, but it's a great feeling!

Am I the only one who finds the idea of using melee profession to hunt creatures a tad distasteful? (This is not meant to offend, we're all different, and do things our own way). I guess I'm speaking in a semi-roleplay way here.
I chose rifleman because it seems more surgical. I used to be marksman and fencer, but standing there and whacking a creature about the head with a gaffi stick just seemed to be making too much of a show of killing another life form. With a rifle, it's precise, and it's quick. Take your shots and the deed is done.
Edit:
Also, using firearms seems more reasonable for taking down creatures much stronger than you are, you're admitting you have to hide away from the creatures counter attacks. Standing there trading blows with a gurk king, or a mountain squill, or even a rancor seems a little unrealistic.
