Really? Funny since SOE is listening to us, the LARGER crowd and NOT listening to YOU. Gee maybe it is you who came unarmed and with a weak argument. Clearly SOE agrees with us and not YOU. It;s clear that all YOU want us to be are hunters/trappers, SOE has never made that statement, and if you cannot see that the skills a hunter possesses could not be viable in war you are a tool and deserve no reply.

Nothing was intended at all about rangers because we were not finished, you cannot make statements that SOE intended anything here. They have admitted they didn't finish us. They have not added all the skills they want us to have, they are adding pvp skills for us. The only person who's been crying on this thread is YOU!

maybe that is what we need to define the ranger profession.

Scout = Animal (all attributes to hunting game)

Ranger = PvP (all attributes to Hunting NPC's and PC's)

What i mean by that is the traps, hit bones etc.. are all reworked so that they are supportive of the profession. Im goona post something on this soon as class defining way and see what you guys think.

il keep you posted.

"Not a Troll but a Ranger/Rifleman playing the game the way SoE designed Rangers not as your Star War Fantasies about Antarian Rangers say they should be played."

If you wanted to play deerhunter why on earth did you buy a star wars game? I want to play a Star wars ranger not a deer hunter. If we were meant to be mere hunters they'd have called the class hunter-gatherer and left it at that. The only kind of ranger in history who had no ability to do war or combat with people are park rangers, i REALLY do not want to be a park ranger and run around trying to stop yogi from stealing picnic baskets. Rangers in every other game have had combat ability against people and animals. But this is star wars and a star wars ranger needs to reflect a star wars ranger not Billy joe bob the deerhunter.

After reading all of these posts, I am quite excited about the possibilities for Rangers. It just makes me want to work harder getting there. Thanks for the great post!

No prob I think we feel the same way just different approaches, I don't want to wait lol so I am taking what is there. I just want to snare a pet to see the look on a CH's face as his pet stops and receives a frontal blast from my LLC and can't do squat about it.

We don't need a class specific weapon or skill line, we have it already in the way of traps, tracking, camo, and the ability to build forward operations bases. Pretty sure that's what any military ranger would know how to do, we have these skills in star wars, only the code to make them all useful in the GCW is missing.

I agree that the Antarian Ranger idea is better left as an organization or PA, but the concept of the Antarian Rangers should be used as a template for distingushing Rangers from Scouts.

Scouts are just fine effecting only animals with masksceant and traps. Rangers should take the obvious step up after learning how to best trap and evade animals, to applying thier skills to intelligent humanoids.

They already took this approach by adding conceal. It works (should work) better than maskscnet does against animals with the added benefit of effecting humanoids as well.

It is only logical that our traps should effect humanoids as well.

Star Wars has no appearent "End Game". DAoC has it's RvR. EQ has the Planes. The only thing that comes close in SWGis the Galactic Civil War. If Rangers have no place in PvP (the GCW) that means that we have no place in the "End Game".

Myself and many other people are not going to continue playing a profession that has no place in an entire part of the game and I'm not even a PvP player.

I'm sorry, what exactly are you arguing against Alfgand?

For that matter, what are you arguing for Keito?

Development already has PvP traps in the works. It has already been stated that we are getting more PvP potential, so what is the argument?

So as SOE has already announced PvP traps for Rangers, you are wrong Alfgand. Appearently SOE does consider us, at least, a semi-combat class. I am sorry.

On that same token, why are you arguing for more PvP Keito? We don't even know what may be coming down the line soon. Patience.

We are an admittedly unfinished profession, but as things are turning out (Conceal that works on people, Tracking people and players, and Trapping that works on people and players) I would say we are already well on our way to being a valuable component in PvP.

Sorry to sounds so harsh...

I've got an idea for the antarian rangers as a skill set. It could be an ultra elite class, like the idea for the civil engineer. I went over the numbers and you'd have to be a master ranger, & have ranged support specialist, as well as rifle specialist (just for a little realism). There would still be just enough skill points left to master an antarian ranger class. Any ideas what kind of branches would be in it? I was thinking at least one or two combat-type (a special heavy weapon like the BH LLC, bow, or special rifle skills). How about one that allows you to do espionage (i.e. appear to change your declared faction)? Maybe a demolitions branch. I'm not very familiar with the job of an Antarian Ranger so I'm not very sure what would be good so any other suggestions would be welcomed. I suppose you get my point by now....

"Cool.. PM me your class numbers and the names of your First Sergeants and CSM's. Yours at both the Batt and in Group, Wolf.

If you're not posers, it should be no big deal. Right?"

No comment to that rubbish. I won't tell you my own name either. The only point to bringing up our past was to tell each other where we are coming from about the subject at hand. If you wish to beleive we are posers feel free. It's really no skin off of my hide. I got all the recognition i needed for my service from the only people that matter, The United States Army.
