MY template...has 2 KEY features i will not give up.....MCH and Ranger 0.0.3.0..here goes
Master Creature Handler
Master Scout
Ranger 0.0.3.0
TKA 0.4.4.4
Brawler 4.0.0.0
Novice medic
or
Master Creature Handler
MAster Scout
Ranger 0.0.3.0
Rifleman 4.4.0.4
Novice Medic
Pro's and Con's ? different tree's ? it's either Rifleman (to fire while mounted) or TKA (up close and personal)....help me decide...i am already a Rifleman 1.0.0.0 and brawler 3.0.0.0 so going either way isn't a problem...could drop medic and go MTKA but i hear the meditate heal isn't so hot, but i don't know for sure...these are all guesses.

Here's a template I'm thinking about. I posted it in a seperate thread, but this is a far better place for it.
Master Rifleman
3/0/4/0 Ranger
4/0/0/0 Teras Kasi
My current template is Master Ranger, Master Rifleman, 1/0/0/0 Medic.
So I drop the ability to stim myself on the fly for the ability to buff myself and meditate my wounds and poison/disease away. The TKA buff would help me with rifleman. I also have better melee ability if something gets in close. I loose the ranger traps, but I can live with that.
Not so good is that I have to give up two camo schematics, and the ranger camps. Not least I have to drop Master Ranger (sobs at the thought).
What do you guys think?

Super camps, camo, traps? I dont see what I'd need these things for with Master Sword.
Rangers' only valueimo is for harvesting and tracking, so Im leveling (rebuilding):
Master Sword
Tracker
TK 4/0/0/0
Medic0/1/0/0
To support my Armorsmith addiction and guilddocs, BE's
With 10 points left for FS bonuses.

Master Ranger
Master Tailor
Artisan 0433
Pros:
- Duel yield hawtpants, with the camopants def.
- Access to the hawt damage type, which all mobs and armor are vulnerable to. (Not to be confused with "heat".)
- Can harvest the most supple hides and survey the most high-quality inorganicsfor the awe-inspiring Winged-Hawtpants.
- Area knockdown, dizzy, and stunwith /beam when wearing hawtpants.
- Tailor gives the opportunity to be professionally really, really, really, rediculouslygood-looking. (Remember Zoolander?!)
- Ranger gives the ability to run away like a sissy really, really, really, fast.
Cons:
- Rangers smell. They tend not to shower.
- Especially when they're Bothans, who have problems with alcohol consumption.
- No hawtpants crafting station in the HTFB.
- Kreetles are 100% resistant to the camo damage type.
- Ranger automatically grants -5000 creature faction, making normally passive creatures attack on sight.
- This stacks with the -5000 Kreetle faction all players normally have, giving -10,000 Kreetle faction total. All Kreetles on Tatooine willspontaneously agro a Ranger on the opposite side of the planet.
- Camo pants just aren't hawt.

I didn't write that a CH pet could harvest, I wrote that you can use /tellpet harvestCommand on your droid. Your droid harvests, but by using the /tellpet command on your droid you have greater range on the command than if you use spatial commands, in addition to not adding to spatial spam; that, at least, has been my experience.
Incidentally, since posting my experience with this template, I have gone back to medic and given up creature handler for now. I found I just very seldom used the creature pets after a while.Message Edited by Tyyn on 11-09-2004 10:37 PM

Sadly, that is one of the few profession combos for which there are not enough skill points.
Either way, I'd recommend against it for now. Commando weapons work best if you have ranged weapon skills to use with them (i.e. some smuggler mezzes or some rifleman damage skills). Ranger does not currently give you any of these so you miss out on many of the Commando benefits.

Do all the pros and cons listed in the first post sill stand after the CU?
I thought things like "attacking mind pool" are no longer?
And i.e. CH 0030 for a support pet seems useless now since the pet level would be way too low to go with a master Rifleman?

Man, hard to pick a color you are NOT using .... so I will settle for BLUE

Part 2
02-CREATURE HANDLER
Main:Provides the player with hunting skills and harvest bonuses to complement a very powerfull defensive semi-combat profession.
Pros:
Great Tank Capabilities (ch) -Huge bulking bio pets have insane resists and ham so you can tank very well
Holding aggro IS a problem
Poisons/Diseases(ch) -Pets can poison/disease so gives you another damage route
Pet special attacks are not working properly
Pet Damage Output(ch) - Pet damage output can help topple those beast and also keeps agro firmly on them
Unfortunately no...See your own con list: pets don't do much damage.
Great RP Prospects(ch) - You have a pet and companion to travel with you on your journies
Baby Hunts(ch) - Going hunting for babies adds another fun dimension to the game
47SP Left(ch) - 47 skill points to spent on other skill make this option prety sp cost effective
Able To Track Animals (ranger) - Using /areatrack enables you to find rare and valuable critters/babies
Harvest Bonuses (ranger) - You can harvest more off a single creature than most
Keep Critters At Range (ranger) -PheascenePhecnacine and Adhesive Mesh slow and root creatures
Melee Defense DebuffTraps (ranger) -Wire mesh andglow wire traps take down combat defenses making targets much easier to hit
Camo Bonuses (ranger) - Using camo kits give the player many shots without getting attacked
Uhm, unless it got fixed (again) I believe in pub 17 there was a fix on "camo NOT breaking when going into combat mode"?
Cons:
Can'tSolo That Well(ch) - Its not a case of taking too much damage, rather than being able to dish it out, which ch is very limited at
Redundant Tanks(ch) - Because of armour and buffs most players can tank much better than pets
Very Low Defenses(ch) -Youcant have any master elite combat skills so you dont get the defensive capabilities associated with themK is the only weapon limiting both damage type and speed vs damage options
CH Bugs: Pets keep disappearing during fights, limited pets, you cannot change pets during fight, healing pets use the same TIMER as healing yourself (instant stimpack) meaning each minute you can decide wether to heal yourself OR on of your pets, even if you don't have a elite combat master, using high CL weapons always outdamage your pets, hence dragging aggro onto you. Also pets keep forgetting commands afre combat (so need to re-issue follow, guard and whatever commands) and aggro themselves on natural enemies *not under control anymore*.

I found this in the FAQ, and its a very helpful thread while I'm considering my respec,
but.....
I do feel it could probably do with an update , post - CU (well post patch 19 now). Only trouble is, I don't feel qualified enough to do it, Not having tried all the professions.
Anyone who wants to try an update would be most welcome

How is it possible to master ranger and an elite profession and still have 18 pts left?
Master Ranger + Rifle leaves 4 pts etc..
