To be fair, it's not a very capacious head to start with...

I completely disagree with your definition of ownership of SWG. How can SOE NOT have the right to shut this down whenever they want (and treat the forums however they want)?
What happens when the EverQuest players hear about SWG just getting dropped like a Ranger Hat?
They start to wonder if they should invest their time in a game that may not be around tomorrow.
What happens when the games sites and magazines find out?
Media frenzy, I'd expect it to be on the front page of My Yahoo, and on the 6:00 news.
What happens when Warner and the Wachowski's find out that The Matrix franchise they just transfered to Sony might be washed up? What happens when ILM, Skywalker Sound and Lucasfilm all stop using Sony equipment to make their films. And what happens to all the developers, community relations crew, QA teams, management, etc when they all of a sudden don't have anything to do? What happens to the stock price? What do the stock holders do?
The point is, it's better to have a large group of people making informed decisions than one or two people being impulsive and emotional. Better to be absolutely sure that you're not deleting a post that's a parody, and if there's a doubt, ask for a second opinion. You know if someone suggested at a meeting that if they shut down the game, that Blixtev would shoot down that idea, he likes the game as much as we do.

Again, that does not mean that SOE HAS to keep SWG going. They want to stop doing it and poof, it goes away. Now, LA also has a say, and would probably get themselves a new Developer, but SOE can still dump it whenever they want. All of your examples show things that would be stupid to do, not that are against the law.

SOE is not stupid, despite what we might think at times. They will do whatever it is they feel gives them the best return for their investment. That is what will decide the fate of the game and nothing else.
