"I mean, yeah, I'll be shooting for gobs of damage, and the TKM will be shrugging it off, then he'll get in my face, and as soon as he slaps me, i'll be crippled!"
not necessarily so. the TKM will not have uber killing power like it has now, the offence is reduced to 3 compared to a rifleman's 3 defense, so again, the TKM will have to slap you a few times before you get put down. we also have to think about it in the spirit of the CU, which has been pushing hard for multi-player combat, and not just a 1-on-1 situation. so we assume that you'd have a tank or a sniper with you while combatting.
"First off, CH is a Star Wars profession."
true, agreed...
"But Smuggler had not been seen a combat profession and it is now"
well, sticking to your professions based in SW, what have you been watching?? What do you think Han and Chewie do? They're smugglers, pivotal characters in the SW universe, and full out smugglers. I think that pretty much says it all. Now if you're making reference to Smugglers in-game, then maybe you need to let go of the "old" way, and embrace the new game. Let's face it, CU will transform the way we play, will reclassify profs, will completely and fundamentally shift the game into a new realm. So maybe instead of having everyone complain and compare,we need to adapt and continue.
I plan on continuing, no matter what the changes, with the idea that this will probably feel like a brand new game altogether. And good for SWG... it was getting a little boring around here lately.

Who the heck broke the column width on page two?? I was actually getting tired out scrolling across acres and acres of page trying to follow one line of text...

from a Ranger point of view, I'm not mad at the new CU
as it pertains to Melee vs. Ranged. TKMs will have 5 defense
while Riflemen will have 5 offense, so it evens out. TKMs
will no longer be the uber attackers, but they'll be the
toughest tanks in the game. So in a sense, the combat
professions wil be pretty cool, and we'll have a chance
to mix and match different types (like TKM with some
rifleman for Ranged efficiency).

Does it truly even out?
"the best offense is a good defense" i'm sure we've all heard that, or "Defense wins championships"
I mean, yeah, I'll be shooting for gobs of damage, and the TKM will be shrugging it off, then he'll get in my face, and as soon as he slaps me, i'll be crippled! ![]()
i know i'm over reacting (hopefully) but ibelieve what they think was a well thought out plan, could still end up in favor of the TKM everytime...I really want to test this system.

yup, i've just mastered ranger. and i was thrilled, then all this CU infor came out....
and being told "soon" or "after CU" does nothing for my enthusiasm.
i'm now seriously considering dropping Ranger all together until our revamp. becuase i see our post CU life as a living hell until our revamp. which will be at minimum 2 months post CU. i want to do something fun, Ranger is Fun now, but after CU i see it being a major hinderance........ but, we'll see when the TC comes up....

Ehm?
We do play the same game yes? The game where a TKM deals a damagetype that most players have resistances in the 80-90% range against?
TKM in PvP as of current live system is far from an "uber killing power", their abilities to deal noticable damage to most PvP enemies (armored chars playing "regular" professions) is next to zero, they can do something vs. Jedi, admitted, but a pure tkm no matter how good he knows how to use his profession (non-stacker, not using an adk'ed PSG with Lightsaber resists) will not win vs. a Knight with one of the "common" templates if the Knight also knows what he does (just as 80%+ of the PvP riflemen are not knowing how to do it right(tm) in PvP the amount of Jedi Knights hardly knowing what they are doing is easily in that range or above, especially the "Jebay" type is usually ultimatily clueless how to play their char
TKM btw is contrary to the myths about this profession not an "uber killing power" in PvE either as of current system, that's swordsman (or pikeman when "enhanced" good enough).
