Thread: Top Issue #5
You said the key word yourself - these are traps, not automatic harvesters that process animals as they pass by. There's a distinct difference between the harvester idea as I understand it the way it was presented here, and the notion of someone going into the wild to place a trap and trying to lure an animal into it. But the idea that you can get animal resources, automatically, without even having to kill the animal, doesn't seem to respect the basic game mechanics of SWG.

What do you call coilspring traps, fox/racoon traps, cage traps, fish/lobster weir, pit traps, quial traps,etc...?
My family has many hunters/ Rangers.
My father is a Division of Forestry Ranger, he uses automated traps all the time to capture dangerous animals.
My uncle is an ex-U.S. Army Ranger, he knows how to make traps that capture animals as well as humans.
I use traps all the time when I go hunting.
This proposed method of Trapping is a reasonable method to implement automated trapping into the game.
Trapping is not lobbing "grenades" at an animal...
I'm not particularly into the idea of:
Request for Creature Harvesters in for the form of traps
The rest are awesome. If I am in the minority on the harvesters idea, so be it (haven't read this whole thread). I'd rather go with the group consensus for what is good for rangers. My personal opinion is that I don't like the idea, but it's not a major issue.
Otherwise, I regret not having spent more time at the ranger forum. I realize that things that are floating around in my head like they are my own personal issue are affecting a whole community here. It's good to be part of that.
There are only so many ways that an idea like this can be implemented into this type of game making it fun and useful at the same time.
If it were only implemented to snare one creature, why would you waste the time setting one up as you could just as easily go out and bag the creature yourself. Defeats the purpose of adding something for casual gameplay.
I was just trying to think of something that would assist casual Rangers in making a place in the economy.
It is obvious that you and I are never going to see eye-to-eye on this topic so I'm just gonna drop it. No amount of explaining it is going to change anyones mind.
I am starting to get overly upset trying to defend this subject and since I have more fun on these boards, listening to and thinking up new ways to improve my favored profession, than I do playing the actual game I would rather not take it too seriously and lose intrest in the forums as well.
The point is moot anyhow as it has already been removed from the list...
