Understand your reasons, but, still, please stay!
We have to stick together, whether we are the smelly old outdoorsmen men from NRaas era (thats me sniff sniff) or those new guys who want us to be sneaky ultra commandos.
Everyone blows up at some time (cough cough I should know) and pretty much everybody feels really annoyed about whats going on.
Especially us long-term rangers who watch our skills disappear and get marginalised again and again. Funnily enough this coincides with our increasing posting rate and loudness.
But everyone should have a voice and feel able to speak about this emotive subject (us) and not be forced away!
Cuchulainn Darklight, will not track, nor apply camo, nor use traps in hunts, nor take orders for organics, as these may well involve or, lead to,combat and I am categorically NOT a combat profession, unlike doctors and BEs who are combat professions and can hunt for their own organics, whilst I craft camps as a non-combatant for the thriving galaxy-wide market in luxurious outdoors living equipment!

Gah, that sucks. Although I can certainly understand your motives-- the forum has become, ah, unfamiliar of late. Don't know what else to say.

I completly understand Calc. I pretty much stopped reading the forums because its getting so out of hand. It was that way in the CURB forums to until someone nicely told me to stop reading them
And thanks for the comment that ranger isnt being eliminated. When i said that it was after three days of third shift and practically no sleep thanks to my kids. You tend to get paranoid when your like that.
Take a break. Five members of my guild are trying out EQ2 until the CURB gets released

Personally, I can relate with a decision to leave the boards. I can track the beginning of my displeasure with the game to the day I first logged onto the forums. I really wish I never found them.
The Jedi forums are just ridiculous so I try to stay in the more fun forums like Ranger and Smuggler. But I've noticed everything, including galaxy trade, has gone nuts recently. I only wish I had enough willpower to take a break. I left for a few months but the forums are like an ex-girlfriend.

You may not believe me, but I am truly saddend that you are going to take this course. Please reconsider! I do truly appriciate your cautions. I have not gotten this mad the whole time I have been a Ranger and have held out hope constantly, and got to the point where I needed to vent steam. I didn't think I was loosing my civility! Angry and frustrated yes. So if I had anything to do with this because of my very strong positions recently, which I know you have spoken to me to calm down, then I truly apologize to you!
Believe it or not even when I got ticked off at some of what I perceived and non-sensitive posts, I respected what you had to say, and it has really had a positive affect on me. So if in any way I have added to your decision making I hope you will accept my apology and that you will seriously rethink your decision!
Sincerely
Jolandir

I lurk much and post little (well, til recently anyways...) One thing that really impressed me about our boards is the sense of community. I mean, sure the cu has rattled us, but the BH and jedi boards are so clogged with hate a flames, that I could barely stand to read them. I'm sorry to see one our leaders and sanest voices go silent....

Wow....
Calc, I'm sorry to read this. Completely understand where your frustration is coming from, and share in much of it. I'm just as frustrated and upset as the next person about the lack of communication and information coming our way. However, folks just seem to keep forgetting that we just... don't... KNOW.... anything yet. Silence doens't mean we're getting nerfed all to heck and back. It might SEEM that way, it might LOOK that way, we have ideas... but nobody knows for sure yet.
I hope you'll come back to us after you take a break and cool off for a bit. After going all through scout "on my own", I wandered in here and found the forums as I started up the path to Ranger, and immediately was struck but what a great community was here as I peeked in on others as well (trying to decide on a combat prof). You were certainly one of the reasons I was (and continue to be) most impressed with the Ranger community. Please reconsider your departure, or at most, make it a short vacation, not a "maybe we'll never see ya again" farewell.
I'll even let you borrow my orange n00b vest and mesh trucker cap if you stay ...

Once again, Paks has intonated my sentiments exactly.
Take a break, come back when its fun, we will still be here... and you know there's room for you.
Your presence will be missed, I know that personally you have calmed me down more than once and you have allowed me to see things differently and most of the time better and clearer.
Yesterday i barely even visited the boards because, not only did i have a lot of work to do, but after monday, it was just the same thing over and over again. I cannot listen to negativity without a solution.
I have the utmost respect for you and will continue to bug you in PM

I find it somewhat amazing how the effects of the CU continue to just ripple outward. The test center beta is barely live and see what havoc it has caused.

Really sorry to see you leave the forum, Calc. Only been a Master Ranger about 9 months and only discovered this forum a month or so ago.. Just before the GRM VI. But I know this much.. When I do come to the forums there are 4 or 5 members that I look for and read to find out what's going on.. I pretty much ignore the rest of the crap. You are one of those folks and you will be missed.
Hope you come back, and soon. Maybe I'll see you on Wanderhome, since I still have my character from the GRM (getting close to Novice Ranger now).
Take care.

BAH!
Leave you alone for a few days and this happens? You are made of sterner stuff then this mister! I NEVER thought I would see "drama" here. And the rest of you, remember your roots. Have you all gone Jedi or something?
Don't make me pull this car over.
