I have the same question that has never been answered. Has the outdoorsman proposal been looked at, and if so, what will be implemented? I personally would like to see something that adds value to the overall profession not a one item accessory. If they would just give us our camps that we want, I would be happy. Besides, who needs a trap launcher? If rangers are too busy to throw their own traps, we have droids that can do our job for us anyway.

How about we ask what "specifically" the DEVs like out of the outdoorsman proposal. Which items are they most seriously considering for use in the revamp (whenever we get one)?

Being the simple-minded soul that I am, I must harp upon one thing at a time...

"Why must traps now (i.e. since Publish Eight) be in the top of the inventory to be thrown?"

Here's the question I think we should ask for our second round of questioning:

In August of 2003, Holocron posted in the Ranger forum regarding the lack of uniqness to the Ranger profession. The post stated 'The focus of this post will be on how we are making Ranger different from scout. Ideologically, the ranger is still a "super scout."' This post then went on to list many ways to improve the Ranger profession. Since then we have had only two things implemented (/areatrack and /camo) from that list, and both of those were unintentionally nerfed. /areatrack is nullified by player cities, spawn rates and vehicles; /camo was broken in a patch so that it doesn't work on most NPCs and in general is worse (costs resources and breaks far too easily) than /maskscent, a Scout skill. What are the plans, if any, to differentiate the Ranger profession from the Scout profession and will this happen in the form of a Revamp or can it be done via minipublishes/hotfixes?

I think it drives home the fact that he didn't answer it last time, and that we still think this is the most important thing to us.

Thank you,

Delta and I are working on that in the Corr forum, and I would rather not use our question on that, unless the community thinks we should...

Are you going to give the Rangers an increased harvesting mod?

a) Yes

b) No

If 'yes,' when?

a) Prior to JTL

b) Post JTL

c) Within a week

Also, how much of an increase will you give us?

a) 50% more than what we have now

b) 100% more than what we have now

c) 300% more than what we have now

d) 500% more than what we have now

e) Other...if other please give a number.

I got the distinct impression TH was reluctant to give ANY numbers out regarding anything unless realy necessary. I think if we asked the questions we would most likely get a response along the lines of:

a) Substancial

b) Considerable

c) Fair

d) Marginal

e) A Boost (Im fearing this it basically means we are going to be kept in the dark again

These were the answers I was trying to avoid. A 50% increase is substantial, but not nearly enough...It is all in the interpretation.

Oh and regarding the question i think is more fitting, i believe we should ask a question related the the outdoorsman proposal that has already been submitted. I think we have more chance of a relevant and usefull answer if we as something related to something they HAVE read before and thought about rather than bringing new ideas to the table. How About:

"TH, What is the status on the ranger trapideasoutlined within the Outdoorsman Proposal? Presently ranger traps are no where near as usefull astheir scout counterparts, is anything going to be done about this?"

I could go with something like this. I am so undecided on whatI want to know, via this question, that I can't think straight. Oy!

My comments are in green .

Keep in mind what these questions are about. They are not a place to get changes affected. They are really supposed to be a Q&A about the Ranger profession. I wish this post didn't sound like a TH answer to one of our questions.

ROFL!

Maybe our second question should be:

Why didn't you answer our first question?

I like that idea a LOT. Or maybe simplify our first question to a yes or no answer:

Are there plans to differentiate Rangers from Scouts?

The problem with that is, a 'yes' answer to that question raelly doesn't give us anyhting. Plans can change. There were plans to differentiate Rangers from Scouts back in August. I plan to be a millionaire...will it happen? maybe...when? who knows.

Fred_Skinner wrote:

oh ya, here's one: When do we get stealth?

Actually, I'm very tempted to agree with Fred here. They supposedly saw the link to the proposal in our top issues. Why not ask them about it? Something like:

In our Top 5 list, we submitted an idea for an implementation of PvP stealth for Rangers. The idea was to make a system that had no possibility of a client hack while still being useful and fair to players without the ability. Have the Developers looked at this proposal and, if so, do they think that such a system might work? If they believe that such a system is feasible, is there a chance of it coming in the Combat Balance (as that is one of the few periods during which extensive balance testing could be performed)? We realize that some exploit could appear and think that the "sandbox" environment of the Combat Balance would be an ideal place to test this.

They have said that the Combat Balance will be developed in a "sandbox" environment. That means that they should be able to try the system out and still remove it if necessary. Anyone else agree?

i've been waiting for nemo0 to post, just so i could say:

/agree

the combat balance is where i'd hope to get the stealth changes as well... only thing i'd suggest is to distinguish between fred's and the outdoorsman proposals... we're pushing fred's now, right?... or was this just a "general stealth" question?

Why don't we ask if their future plans for Ranger are along the lines of an outdoorsman or more of a combat profession?

Exactly my point. Why should we worry about Outdoorsman issues if they plan on making us more of a combat profession. It would be a waste of a question. I think it's best to find out where we are going before we shape what we want to be when we get there.
