I am a BH/ranger combination. I (un)fortunately became more of a ranger after I experienced BH for a bit. It was a bit of a let down, but I now enjoy playing ranger quite a bit!

Master ranger/Master CH/Pistoleer stances and grips 3 (uses all skill points).

Allows use of best pets. Pets do more health damage than anything, so your pistol damage helps them. You have two health bleeds that stack and stopping shot which does good damage eventhough its slow.

Of course, you need to find as good pet stim supplier with this setup since you have no medic skills.

Master Ranger

Pistoleer (2-0-4-0)

CH (1-0-0-0)

Novice Medic (0-0-0-1)

I've been master ranger for quite a while with 0-0-4-0 in entertainer (musician) but was looking for better PvE and PvP rounding. I started up the CH tree and filled in some pistoleer. I may go 3-2-0-0 in CH and surrender some pistoleer.

But I have to tell ya - I totally love the idea of TKA ... that just sounds fun as heck. Pistoleer has seriously disappointed me but I'm afraid to pursue different range weaponry if SOE nerfs them as badly as pistoleer. I may just change to the secondary profession that SOE is least likely to nerf next ... haha.

Seriously, I have fun at Ranger/Pistoleer but this thread has really gotten me to reconsidering and crawling up the TKA tree. Hrrrmmmm

At the moment I'm doing a bit of everything.

Master Scout

Ranger 1 / 0 / 1 / 0 (only really want tracking)

Marksman 0 / 4 / 0 / 3

Pistoleer 0 / 0 / 2 / 0 (just want to get to 4 for Fan Shot)

Medic 2 / 0 / 0 / 2

CH 2 / 1 / 0 / 1 (aiming for 3/3/0/3)

Artisan 4 / 0 / 0 / 2

Architect 0 / 0 / 1 / 3 (large houses)

Was thinking about keeping the architect until I've made a few more houses and then drop it asand when Ineed the points for Ranger / CH .

I'm not in any hurry to master any elite professions... in fact I'd rather be a jack of all trades and be able to do a bit of this and a bit of that... other games (eg EQ)make you pick your profession from the start and can be quite restrictive.. not what I'm looking for here.

Think I'm taking dashida's approach, my rifle skills are rarely used since after 4 shots the animals come running anyways. I might just drop down to rifle 2 or something and work on Pistoleer skills. Seems like the best idea. Would any of you say we really even need those "Ranged Weapon Support Abilities"? I'm itching for points and made 4,4,0,4 Marksman faster than I needed to, but I still need about 20 skill points for Master Ranger.

Dropping some Marksman skills should open me up for a bit. /bow

Thanks for the inspiration to give up my rifle for a better pistol. hehe..

Going for Master Ranger/TKM. I'm currently a jack-of-all-trades:

TKA 1/1/1/1

Ranger 0/0/2/0

Artisan 0/0/0/3

Medic 2/1/0/0

Ent 0/0/0/1

Marksman 3/0/0/4

Melee kicks butt as a Ranger, IMO. I'm using traps now as my ranged weapon and for de-buffs. Animals come to me and I take care of them 1,2 or 3 at a time. I haven't used my rifles in a long time. My goal is:

Master Ranger

TKM

Medic 1/0/0/0

I'm aiming for Master Ranger/Pistoleer 3-2-4-3/Medic (enough for B's)

As for CH, yeah that's a good plan. But I do fine with a rock beetle that I send on agro lairs. Then I just bleed the suckers while they eat him.

Pistoleer rocks for ranger if you have the right HAM setup (lotta health/action). I usually supress, bleed, body2, doubletap,body2,doubletap. If I'm lucky enough to be hunting the weaker prey stopping shot usually kills them in one shot.

On a side note, I think it would be cool if Master Rangers had a library of creatures that they could pull up at any time. Every creature you've ever seen since your days as a novice scout, just pull them up and examine them. It would be handy in a situation like "What drops herbivore meat on Naboo? I heard it just shifted to superhigh quality." Bang open the library for a quick refresher course. It would be a handy thing.

I'll go against the grain here and strongly recommend against going Master Ranger/ Master CH. Having done it myself, I can attest to the fact that the fun will eventually turn to endless boredom.

This combination leaves you extraordinarily one-sided. It leaves you 47 points to play with, assuming you master each. If you try to save points by not mastering one or both, you're simply mediocre at what you do. Take your pick.

Those last 47 points will get you exactly up to 0-0-0-3 (or any combination therein) in one of the combat professions (TKA, Rifle, Pistol, etc). This is not enough to make you an effective fighter if you're serious about fighting. Most CH's agree that Medic is also essential, as pets take forever and a fortnight to heal - this cuts 15 points from your 47, leaving you 32. You can't even get Novice (whatever) Combatant with those points.

Honestly, I think you'll be bored to death with this combo after awhile. If you solo, it sucks, despite the fact that it appears uber for just that purpose. A Master Ranger/Master CH is 95% group player, providing camps that are overkill for one person, camo kits that break too often, pets that *everybody* else already has, and combat skills that don't do jack for the team.

Seriously, depending on how you want to play, think *very* hard about this combo. It was fun at first, but when it gets boring, you'll *really* be wanting out.

I'd suggest getting a combat profession up to max, leaving you 18 points for Medic. That's it. ~J

I myself am going the Ranger/TKA/Novice Medic route. I figure that I won't be too good at pvp (out in the open anyway , but I'm more of a PvE type anyway. My first profession was Bounty Hunter/Ranger, but I chose to go in a new direction, except Ranger, which I'm enjoying.
