The devs hate that saying (I mean HATE it). If this tool goes live, and you comment on it, please find a better way to state your concerns (they ignore posts with that comment in it, seriously
). Just a friendly hint

I talked to a guy the other day on TC2 and he said he had one and that a 75% avian meat spot was in the middle of the Dathomir Science Outpost.
Does this hurt ranger or scouting? I dont think so. They are taking macroing out very soon, and sampling by hand is incredibly time consuming and hardly worth the effort. Sampling takes a huge amount of action now, and I guess with a 3 hour buff you get about 6k materials if you are harvesting 8 units every 13 seconds for 3 hours straight. And that's if you are able to sit and hand sample for 3 hours for 6k material.
It would be better to hunt something. I am a huge advocate for increasing the harvesting rate of rangers.
I see this as a tool to fiind out what quality materials are on each planet without having to hunt down an animal.

idd Owen.
As much as we all hate hunting nuna's on tatooine (and if you do like it I've got a padded van and a nice long white sleeved coat waiting for you) this is in the category of what I would call the "ultimate nerf".

Or Tatooinian Wooly hide and Avian meat. I spent two days out there and collected not enough of both.
This will definitely change things if it goes live. I dont know if I am for or against it. It should have a Novice Ranger Cert if it goes live.

Another note I just thought of.
There are organics like endor avian (Yeah no birds on endor just in loot containers) that cost life and limb to collect with a 2 or 3 unit in a debris pile. With a survey tool you could collect much larger stacks of it. And a lot of time on places like endor where the avian meat is loot drop only (try and collect any significant amount @ 1 to 3 units a stack from loot piles) a novice could sit around harvesting like mad .. sorry you dont need a macro to harvest for hours, just a long written non -recursive macro and a shot of arragrim to buff just your action and maybe a shot of brandy for mind. If this tool goes live it should require a cert of some kind, just like I believe harvestors should require a cert. Hopefully this will not go live and make rangers and scouts in very low to no demand. Why pay for someone to spend their time, skill and engery to go hunt when i could just find a heavy % spot , start a survery macro and still be able to craft/work (droids with stations gota lovem) with no risk to life or limb. Also this would completly remove the need to fish for organics (why fish would be faster to sample, also would this not make the shellfish tool completly useless?) Note that collecting mollusk was any type of speed event.
Sorry for ranting, I just like seeing 140SP to be justified in cost. Btw whats the deal with CL5 and 6 creautes breaking camo and masked scent all the time?
Maybe I shouldnt have bothers to buy all that bio clothes for the +25 to camo and masked scent..

Ok, I finally overcame my congenital laziness and posted two screenshots of the device, survey window and a bit of hide in my inventory that was sampled with the device. Sorry, I'm click challanged.

It shouldn't go live at all.
If people don't think that with this tool Rangers won't becoming the next FOTM afk alt profession they're deluding themselves.
And now back to your regulary sheduled upbeat rangers posting ![]()

Well the images provied above show it. You can see all organics including shellfish. After seeing the above post replying to certs. Yeah this tool should not go live at all it would bring afk rangers in masses and reduce the ranger profession to just tracking for jedi .. not that I would track for them but someone would. Imagine how many less scouts there will be as well with a tool like this in-live. The good question is when you complete the quest do you get a schematic or just a single tool?
