"wouldn't go so far as to say it should require a master entertainer though"

Without this caveat or something comparable (like you need Novice Musician or Dancer). You'll simply see a great deal of people pick up novice entertainer skill themselves and cut Professional entertainers out of the loop entirely.

My main concern is with experimentation on traps. We need our own experimentation points, not to be tied to artisan skills.

Also, could you ask somewhere, please please please, what about us Bothans racial bonus with the new changes?

- Yep, this was noted in a previous post regarding "Scout Experimentation". They need to address the entire crafting line in Scouting and Ranger.

- Yes I have a friend who has a Bothan, who is asking the very same question

And yes, if you can get BF healed in a house, then why not an advancedcamp? I can't count how many times I've been asked "OMG, where can I get me one of these houses!?!?!?" Does this mean I should get a deed for a generic house and deploy it instead of my HTFB whenever someone needs BF healed and we have a novice entertainer in the group? I guess I can carry a weapon/droid/general and food/chem crafting station in my backpack and place them in the house too... I'm still justoutta luckon some of the advanced planets.

I've noticed that as well. Those developers are insidious.

NRaas,

I'm not saying that everyone would be able to auto-heal BF in the camp, only those with a higher-level camping skill. That might even be another use for the camping mod... +100 to camping means that you heal 100BF per hour sitting alone in a camp, +10 = 10BF per hour and novice entertainer dancing might slightly increase that rate, etc... up to a master entertainer is uber-healingyou in 10 seconds like that one I found on Dantooine once (only once). You should have to invest considerable skillpoints for this self-heal ability that accurately represents your "at homeness" in the wild. If I'm sitting in a camp alone reading a good book while watching my fishing pole, there is no greater fatigue heal in the real world and I don't have to be dancing or playing an instrument to get that benefit. I would rather listen to the crackle of my fire.

Well I say there should be NO auto-healing of BF in camps. Only watching/listening toan entertainer would enable the heal of Battle Fatigue.

But that is only my opinion. It is the opinion of the developer that matters the most.

Nraas,

Thanks for the post. I think we see eye to eye on protecting entertainers while making camps a little more desireable with respect to bf. I wish I knew how exactly to do it,lots of great ideas in this post so I'll defer to you and other posters on how to approach it.

I hope that bf is not completely off the table in camps (from the dev's perspective) but I suspect that to be the case. Perhaps to illustrate an inconsistancy in gameplay I will carry a house deed around and pop it out whenever I need to heal mygroup's bf... after all rangers don't use their lots for anything anyway. I am kidding of course, and this would be expensive, but this IS feasible in many places in the game.

I would prefer to stay in character and build a high tech field base in seconds rather than build a full size house in seconds, (cough, cough). My point I guess is thatit is feasible (albeit expensive) to carry a house deed instead of a camp and gain all the benefits in the field by quickly popping out the house and adding all the amenities you want (crafting station, etc.) and then redeeding it when you are done. (I've never redeeded a house so I don't know how expensive it is to do so or if there are other road blocks, so correct me if i am wrong here). Camps can't even be redeeded at this point but I am sure they are still cheaper to buildand deploy. But then again houses don't go poof when you fight... mind wandering, stay on track.

I am hopeful that the dev's make camps in such a way that I abandon this absurd idea in favor of one more conducive to role playing a ranger. Oh... and on planets that do not allow houses then the bf in camps would be great... and make entertainers extremely valuable in the field... all ideas that I support.

Sorry Minervas for contributing to a bit of wander on the thread, perhaps more than you wanted in "short" responses.

I'm sureMineras appreciates all our ramblings. Though I would not want to be the one to have to sort through all this and pick out the gems to put in the next report.

I agree that entertainers should be able to heal BF in the higher-level camps.

I have not heard any decent arguments as to why giving entertainers the ability to heal BF in higher-level camps is a bad idea. There will be no harm to the entertainer profession if they are allowed to heal BF in camps. In fact this will make them more useful. Two of my friends that are entertainers are thrilled by the idea. Plus it just makes sense. Really, what could be more relaxing then listening to music and watching an entertainer around a campfire?

I personally think it would be a good idea for camps to provide a small BF auto-regen (like 1 per minute or so) and I don’t think that would greatly impact the entertainer profession if they could also heal BF in camps because who wants to wait four hours to heal up their BF when they can have their entertainer friend come along and sing or dance for them and heal them in a fraction of the time.

Whether or not camps get the BF auto-regen, the important thing is to make it possible for entertainers to heal in camps. If no other argument is compelling, the simple fact that it is possible to carry around a house deed in your back pocket, slap it down in the middle of a forest in seconds, and have an entertainer heal your wounds, (which is very anti-roleplaying, I have tested it and it is not that expensive to pick it back up); and that allowing BF healing in camps would take away the necessity or desire to use such tactics is reason enough for me to vote for it.

This is my number one issue of all in roleplaying master ranger, so I'm sorry if it feels like it's wandering. I don't think it is.

I don't want to come across sounding like want to take away usefulness of entertainers... indeed I want to add to it. I already take away from the usefulness of droid engineers and master architects because I don't want a droid or a large house, but don't hear them complaining. I only recently started deciding to visit a tailor because I like the idea of BE'd socketed clothes that will increase my rifle skills instead of this scruffy, looted cloak (which I'd love to have an exact copy but with the BE comp's and sockets) I've been wearing since the first week after release. I'm saying that SOLO MASTER Rangers (Masters of the Wild) should be the ONLY ones to benefit significantly from an auto-heal. And even at this, it should still take considerable time to heal that BF. BF from killing a couple of rancors should be healable in 5 minutes in a basic camp by a master ranger solo without having to invest skillpoints in entertainer, but if you die a couple of times, you're either going to HAVE to find an entertainer or spend 3 hours in your HTFB reading a good book or on these forums 8)

Camping skill = 0, no BF heal whatsoever no matter what... mind yes, BF no. The politicians are out of luck, but they don't really want to come out here anyway.

Camping skill sub 50, no auto-heal, entertainer heal only and heal modifier of entertainer x camp skill of player x camp level plays a great role (novice entertainer to novice scout in basic camp can do 1BF point per minute, master musician to master ranger in HTFB = 100 per minute)

Camping skill at or above 50, auto-heal slowly just like wounds. Camp level and camping skill are biggest factors...

Gain BF by being within city limits with camping skill over 50... OMG, since I had to wait 9 minutes 59 seconds for the next shuttle, I just gained 20 BF!!!! That's what I want to hear a master ranger say, then when I hit the next city I either head straight-out or visit the cantina. In fact, while sitting here in the cantina on Lok waiting for an entertainer to show-up I just gained 50 more points of BF for that entertainer to have to heal. Getting to the bazaar to post these hides just cost me 10BF. OMG, it took an hour for an entertainer to show up and I'm passed-out because my BF reached 600!!!!! Since that entertainer sat down to rest her mind and went afk for 10 mintues, I have 20 more BF that need healing. yea I want that as Master Ranger (which I am BTW).

Camping skill (wilderness survival) should even be a factor in BF gain in the first place (maybe this is a solution that would make the most people happy, but I still don't think the best). A master ranger just plain should not get battle fatigue at all when in the wild. Being in-city yes. Dieing yes. Battling mercenaries yes. Battleing piket longhorns no. Reduce my battle fatigue by 1 point when I harvest meat from a spider why don't you, and by 75 when I harvest that hide from the shallow torton I just took down.

Man am I rambling... I think I'll stop now, but I hope there are some useful ideas in this.
