That's too long. The idea was mentioned awhile ago and someone called it /survivalinstinct. I like that one better.

I dont see this as a replacment for chef foods, as i understand it there is no poison/disease resistance foods around, just the new doc buffs.

Its called Cho-Nor-Hoola - generally comes in at about 20 filling, 10-20 poison/disease resist for a 40 min buff. The only reason no-one uses this stuff is because against CM's their high end poisons were far too powerful and it had no effect. I use regulary fo otr PvE and I hardly ever get poisoned or diseased at all. By getting our own version of this we are deminishing, possibly, the only people they are going to sell this stuff to.

There's also Dustcrepe that does DOT time reduction.

Again it would be designed in a way that differentiates this buff from doc and chef buffs as much as possible tieing in the wilderness survival ideas. Also take TK as an example, they get a sell hp buff, why shouldnt another class be able to get a self resistance buff, they do afterall know how a creature attacks and through experience in the wilderness has become toughened in a sense.

It doesn't make sense to me. TN, harvesting mods, tracking, camo/ms and camping make sense but innate poison resistance doesn't. Maybe for specific species such as trando's or mon cam's it would make sense but I don't understand the reasoning behind it otherwise.

Owen you've come up with some great ideas but this just isn't one of them imo.

yeah i was just trying to think about a name on the spot, didnt give it any though.

I like /survialinstinct alot

I also like the idea of stances.

For instance there would be 3 stances:

Pathfind Stance

Effects: Increases movement speed, decreases defenses, increases camo and maskscent, increasesgroup TN (notnear as much as SL but an amount that you are finding the path for the group)

Use: Used when /tracking, when scouting for the group and when runningaround. The idea behind this is that over the years the ranger has traveled many lands and has learned of a way to focus his/her energies on travel and avoidance capabilities at the cost of defenses. The ranger concentrates on how to best traverse the terrain and howmovearound without being seen by creatures and other humanoids.Because of the increased amount of effort been spent in these areas the ranger cannot devote as much effort into offensive and defensive capabilities making his combat effectiveness much less.

Hunting Stance

Effects: Poison, Disease, Bleed, Creature damage resistances. Ranger damage modifyers (when ranger is in this stance, damage is increased by a certain amount)

Use: This should be used when in direct combat, when'hunting'. This stance with the damage modifyers would sort outthe discussions about ranger damage increases and ranger only weapons. Instead theranger's damage (no matterwhat the weapon being used) is increased by an amountwhen in this stance, indicating the rangers creature knowledge and knowing where the best place is to hit.

Survival Stance

Effects: Roots player (cannot move), reduces Bleed, Poison, Disease effects. Increases wound healing rate (not bf) - Sort of like a tonned down meditative effect.

Use: This shoud be used as the ranger's 'camped' or recouperation stance. The ranger goes into this stance whilst in camp or standing around and it allows the negative effects of hunting to pass much more quickly. The purpose behind this is that rangers can use local flora and such to help them recouperate much faster. Perhaps you can only enter this stance whilst in camp.

What do you think of those? If theres more interest ill write more details on em.

Ouch

Watch the group stuff, Owen. Group TN belongs to SL's and it should stay there. They already dont have much as is.

I don't nessesarily disagree with you owen but now were into the realm of medics. This definately sounds like more of a use for /medicalforage the medic skill imo.

Its ok hehe, wasnt steeling anything, simply indicating that the pathfinder stance would aim to be the group/travel 'mode' of the lot. The mods and abilities were just off the top of my head. The only pathfinder sort of modi could think of was SL.

Obviously TN would do or even non at all. There would be no loss realy not having Group TN in there. If there is alot of interest ill probly write this idea up properly as it moves away from the true purpose of this thread but yeah, the idea was basically include mods in pathfinder stance that relate to pathfinder, group TN was a bad example but it was only a rought brainstorm.

After the SL revamp im sure SL's will become alot more effective and hopefully will be able to 'designate' pathfinder using /pathfinder command and give him/her increased movement speed that could stack with our pathfinder stance mods and a constant updated wp to the pathfinder's location allow members to see exactly what direction the pathfinder is headed.

This would make us the best pathfinders, and the best scouts as it were in regards to group activity.

I think they should revamp the forage item drop table and create new food drops based on your /forage skill. The better you are the better chance you have of successfully foraging these new items that provide minor disease, poison or bleed defense. This might give some people incentive go up up these lines more than now and make the points more meanigful
