Thread: Game Neglect
You win a wookiee cookie(e) for 'getting it.'

Er, back to the original subject. Neglect. Everyone feels it - you see it mentioned constantly on just about every profession board (or maybe I just like the gimpy ones). Personally I don't care. I would rather see them spend the time and energy to do Jedi right and make it excellent, then move on and spend the time and energy to do the next thing right, and on and on. That way I can look forward to when they finally reach a profession I enjoy playing, knowing that they will spend the time and energy, and do it up right.

I'd like to know as well. I get the feeling that it is related to this and that people are just taking it out of proportion. But I really don't know.

Now, I've only been playing since about june of this year, not a long time I know. In that time as a Ranger, I have not seen one single update for my profession. Fine. We are somewhat of a minority, and can expect a little neglect. Doesn't make it right, but I can deal.
But it seems of late that the ENTIRE game has been neglected in favor of getting their new Jedi system up and running. I know it's a big deal, and getting jedi is the goal of many players, but come on. I'm paying my $20/month (canadian) like everyone else. How about changing SOMETHING that will affect me. Anything. I don't really care at this point. I just want something new to see or do.
And I know I'm not the only one.
Anyway, that's my rant. Sorry to bother everyone.

It seems to me that every time a new patch comes out concerning another profession, the patch either A) nerfs the prof, or B) has an obnoxious amount of bugs in it. Personally, I'd rather continue hiding in my corner of the SWG galaxy and do the same ol'same ol'than take my chances with the devs.
As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for; you just might get it. ![]()

Sounds likely. But that hasn't been around since launch. All that time wasted scanning the launch files

The rumors appear to be fake. A couple of sites have posted rumors that the day after JTL goes live Lucasarts plans to announce that they are taking control from SOE and will also provide details on the next expansion after JTL. Further rumor was that Lucas is displeased and wants Jedi removed altogether. However, the President of SOE has allegedly contacted mmgn.com to dispel the rumor.

That is the weapon of which I spoke

The statement that there is no content is purely an opinion. There are plenty of things you can do (yes, Jedi is meant for the powergamers, to tide them over since the powergamed their way though most of the stuff that is available). Content comes in many forms: you can easily make your own content (form a krayt hunting party and do it old school...no buffs and/or armor), there are tons of mini quests, and I know that there might be a weapon in the game the no one has discovered yet. Also, there are two ways to get the Scythe schematic, but only one has been discovered. The content is there, if you put some effort into obtaining it.
How have I kept the game from getting stale?
I have attempted all of the new 'publish' dungeons (still haven't seen all of the caves)
I obtained all of the POI badges
I have tried, but not powergamed, to get the new Hero of Tat badges
I haven't even been to a ractrack yet, so I have that in reserve
I have started from scratch on new servers (by scratch, I mean on TC, so I had no support except for the buds I brought with me.
I have never done the mini-quests that the I-having NPCs give you, so there is a whole loot table I haven't tapped yet.
I have worked on obtaining various loot kit pieces
I could go on and on!
I think when people say there is no content, they really mean that there is no content that appeals to them.
Oh Calc, I fear you have corrupted by the dev team. I will comment on some of your previous posts to this one. I do NOT think Jedi should be worked on fully and have lots of time spent on it BEFORE fixing the other game components. It needs to be the other way around. How much of the percentage of players do or want to play jedi, compared to those that play all the other professions? What came first and was presented and available to us first? The base game and professions were first. They should have all been COMPLETE and balanced before spending all the needed time on one single profession/aspect of the game like Jedi. That's like saying I'm going to make this one server on my network bad azz, upgrade it slick it out, load good useful software on it, but neglecting the fact that the rest of my network and servers are old, run down and have major problems, and cause issue with people even accessing the new server because the network keeps going down. Makes no logical or comon sence.
Now onto your content discussion. Yes there is content. This comes from a master ranger who has played scout/ranger his entire game time.
I have done all of the explorer badges. and with that nearly all POIs on planets.
I have also tried the hero badges, got one but thats it. Lame and long.
I have tried a race track a couple of times. Soso, fun, but got boring quik
I have tried all the dungeons in the game. They are are either way to low for someone of even only pistoleer, or to ensanely hard for somone with only pistoleer. I'm fine if it is meant for groups like DWB, but when several other professions can get in there a ways SOLO. If it's meant for groups, NO ONE should be able to solo, so professions are messed up.
I have done and tried many of the mini-quests from NPC's. They are lame and every single one of them I have tried is for lower players under level 20 type stuff. So that is why higher players don't bother, because there are none for us higher players that need it because we have mastered so are no longer grinding. DUH!!
Loot kits are boring because all the NPC to kill for peaces are low level npc. Weeeeee.
So yes, there is content in the game, but about 80% is for low end newbie players, and 15% of the last 20% is super high level "disigned" for groups like DWB or Corvette. And what little midgrade content there is like squill cave or Tusken Fort, is camped to high heaven by Jedi.
So yes, I have a bad attitude about the direction the devs are going. It is just my opinion, but my opinion comes with money. The game is loosing old players as fast as it is gaining new ones. Yes sure, the new ones are having fun and think the game is fine and OK. But they are grinding and experiencing the game anew, so yes it's exciting. But I have noticed a tred of these new players. They start getting a little higher up, and into Elite professions, and start asking questions about their professions. Most of the questions get answered with "yea, its broken, or bugged and has been. Sorry that's just how it is, hopefully they fix it" And the new person gets disgruntled.
I make this prediction. About 70% of new players coming into the game will leave it in 6 months, because it's so broken, not balanced, lacking in areas, not "true" StarWars, and no outlook for great improvement of the general game.

Actually there are several unique weapons linked to those quests - we just got the Lithitanium rifle. Is that a common quest reward and the mace is the rare quest reward?
