Thread: Funny Assumptions You Made When You Started Playing the Game

lol - Hakai you just reminded me. When I began my two closest companions were a human female (played by my husband) and a male zabrak (played by one of our close friends). Everytime we would die my husband and I would come out of it with massive wounds and our zabrak friend would have barely any. After disussing why this was happening for a while we decided it was because he ate food and we didnt. Staying full must be what kept him from getting wounded. So we all went around full of food and drink (you could forage nectar back then). Well, obviously that didnt work. Our next guess was that it was because he was a zabrak and they are resistant to shock damage or something. Wow, that is a useful skill! We were in awe of his innate powers.

About two months into the game we realized it was because he had cloned himself at some point, which none of the rest of us had done because it was so freaking expensive - 1000 credits! None of us, including the zabrak, realized that it kept you from getting wounded.

i have to say that this is the best post ever. I spent the first month ov the game in Mos eisley. I thought that xp was like some of the other games i had played and the better weapon i used the the less xp i got unless it was some insanely tough creature. I leveled all of marksman with cdef weapons on sevorts with no armor and no buffs ( not even knowing that they existed for the first 2 months i played). One day i came back into eisley and decided to walk by the bazaar where i saw peopl pvping all the time. i thought i would ask one of them how i could become one of Jabba's thugs like them and the a$$hole incapped me( i thought pleas don't db cus i don't want to spen another month working on a new character). He wsa the most rude player you could ever meet. He wouldn't respond to any of the tells i sent no matter how buligerant i got. On a side not i just found out about numlock 2 weeks ago LOL

I didnt find out about numlock until 5 months into the game after starting on day 1. I used a small statue (The Buddy Christ from Dogma) on my arrow keys. I would walk away get a coffee, come back and find that the statue had slipped and i was standing in the middle of nowhere again.

That and i thought the zabrak skill /vitalize was sooo uber, yet i had no idea what /equilibrium did, since i always did it while full health.

I started out as a rodian scout hoping to be a bounty hunter. I pickedMos Enthato be my starting city; however there was nobody in Mos Entha. Ever. It was like a ghost town. So I decided to go to Mos Espa, because I foolishly thought there would be people there. Not a chance (though I did kill a cannibal by shooting him and running all over Espa so he couldn't catch me, firing blindly over my shoulder). I made several L-darts and camps and headed out to Mos Eisley. I was incapped 15 times over 3 days (didn't know how to set waypoints). Finally, I ran into another player on my third day and he gave me a CDEF carbine and rifle. I was so happy, I tipped him 100 credits. he tipped me back and TRAINED me for FREE!!! Since I had decent terrain negotiation, I was able to conduct hit and run campaigns against Jabba Swoopers in the hilly areas. On the fifth day, I hitmos eisley.

Because the lag was so bad, I went to theed and C'net once in the first month. I foolishly went to Lok and spent most of my time running away from things. Kirilov Duster (my rodian) became so dull he now lives in his house on Tat (paid for 250 more days) doing nothing.

Side note: I had never been buffed until 2.5 months into the game, by a guildie. When I tried to get a free market buff, I did not know how to bank tip. Since then, with my helper tag up, i get several tells a week asking how to do bank tips because people have never done it before. Good to know we're all in the same boat.

well for me.... well i had a few..... lets start at the top and attempt to rember what my fat english teacher tried to teach me

Ithought you could have ultra neato droid armies. I thought a creature handler could get rancor eggs and sell them and when they hatched they would eat the owner. I thought a chef would get creaive and flood the market with posined pies. wondered how in the world someone could afford a house let alne a laser rifle.thought bone armor was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Thought a ronto would never be killed without a group of 15 ppl. Got the bright idea to /slap a AT-ST. Wondered how many FP's a AT-AT would cost. Took only Anti-Kreetle missions and felt i was doing the work of god. Thought desert demons were really deamons, i mean why coudnt my tier 2 1337 pistol skillls kill one lowly brawler? and the list goes on and on and on..... how ever early on in the game i got over the masses fear of kreetles because i decided hey! im gonna go out in the middle of nowhere andkill lots of stuff come back sell it all and e so rich it wasnt funny..... i wound up living in the dune sea with tents running from tuskens and canabal dewbacks for 4 weeks...... but the kreetles feared me

*sniff* *sniff* Do you smell that.....??? Oh....my bad did my flamesingle2 just hit the jedi??? What a wonderful smell I've just discovered...

SWG was my first MMORPG.

I did the free trial that took place last August.

I met a group going out hunting. We came upon a Tusken Witch Doctor.

None of us had started our elite combat prof. None of us had any armor. None of us were buffed (and knew nothing about it).

There was 5 of us and 1 Tusken. We thought we had him beat. He took all of us down in a few shots... but didn't DB. So we limped away and collected our thoughts at a camp I built. It dawned on us that we would attempt a surprise attack. We'd walk behind it and then bum rush it. It had to work, the Tusken would have no time to react!

So you have two melee and 3 ranged toons hiding behind a rock 70m out.

"When I give the signal.... GO!!!"

It was like Custer's Last Stand.

All of us ended up in the cloner.

The 5 of us later formed the guild I'm proud to be in.

We're gonna take the Tusken Fort one of these days....

For quite a while I knew nothing about armour resists and just couldnt understand why the boen armour I'd crafted at artisan 4000 with crappy resources I'd spent days collecting with my home made personal harvs and lowly scout and marksman skills made me die quicker when fighting mobs.

To this day I long to make good bone armour

Don't have the SP to put into artisan now though

There's an interwoven bone armour schem on my trade forums actually, might buy it for a laugh

yeah...that one scared the bejesus out of me back in the day. I had already gone on a jawa slaughtering run moments before someone had told that one to me.

I started in mos eisley. Grabbed some scout along with my created brawler and did some missions. After some BF accrued, I went to the lucky despot. There were no entertainers there so I went to what I thought were two players in discussion (they were facing each other). Well, they were NPC's and it took me a bit to realize they weren't real players being rude. Then I got lost in the despot after I ran from some gruesome NPC called 'Lady Valarian.' Thinking I made it out, I found myself in an outdoor area with tables. Having fallen to darkness and not knowing of my personal light, it took me 5 minutes to find the door back into the despot, only to find I was in a courtyard. That thing is a little maze for a newb (I finally found the other cantina not 10 minutes later).

Assumptions?

1. I went Ranger so I could track for the hermit (thinking it was my key to going jedi). Of course, it only took me a few days to get to the official forums and find out jedi weren't in game yet.

2. When jedi would get introduced into the game, you won't be able to get FS if you've ever killed a Jawa.

3. Being smuggler would allow me to buy faction points for those nasty desert stalkers. I lost count how many times I died because of them (prebuffs).

4. Ben Kenobi's hut would only be enterable by Jedi wanting to craft their first lightsaber. (lol)

That's all for now.

I remember thinking the path to bounty hunter wasn't going to be set in stone.I was like Wow, cool, I'm gonna take scout and rifles and fencer and that'll get me able to be BH. I had no idea what pre-reqs were.

Also, played on Test Center for 8 monhts before switching to Eclipse. I didn't even know what a buff was until I got to Eclipse and Fred gave me some money. I think i was better off not knowing :/

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I started off in Mos Eisley, and as I was walking around town taking it all in, I wonderd why all these players were standing around not talking, and why would they ever want to be a commoner?!
