Thread: The Top 5 Bug Responses
Just to rant a bit more I poured over a lot of the other top 5 issues, note issues as no other profession I looked at was only allowed to have their bugs commented on, and I gotta say we got the royal shaftola. Other professions get answers we get..... we get nothing except a promise of a future nerf.
I dont want to hear about how there are 33 professions and it takes time or that greenmarine is in charge of this that and everything under the sun. Those are staffing issues andwork flow issues. SOE's problems with those issues is notan acceptable excuse.

Lets not give up on Nrass yet. I hate this idea more than any, but lets see if he will at least try....
In my opinion NRAAS has been presenting ranger issues to the devs in the light that we are happy with PVE only abilities and this is the number one reason this professiion is so empty. NO OTHER profession is restricted so, ranger is pve only, other than player tracking, no ranger abilities can effect the GCW or PVP in general. I'm sorry but the tone he presented their responses made me feel he agrees with the dev. I have felt this way for a long time. I feel he's had a long run and its time for a change. Correspondants are supposed to be shifted in and out anyway and i think it's high time he moved along and someone else takes over.
Ranger as it stands is nothing more than super scout 2.0 and mildly so at that. It offers percious little more than scout does already. ALL i have seen for the last few months since release is nraas and quite a few of the rest of you shoot down any idea that would give rangers pvp functionality because they themselves dont personally do PVP. PVP is all there is once you are done leveling. trust me when you master ranger you will get tired real fast of going hunting and harvesting.
From his response i see the devs want you to be nothing more than deer hunter 2.0. A Bio engineer even has a place in the GCW but not rangers. This is star wars and the professions should reflect that and have a place in the wars.
Artisans produce goods that have a use in the GCW
Entertainers can heal BF and buff directly effecting the GCW.
Combat professions i dont even need to say what they do.
Rangers well we are just scouts with a harvest bonus, we provide nothing unique outside of pve and now they want to take that away.
Umm ya sure ranger is by far the saddest profession in the game with by far the least amount of usefulness, even DEs are more unique than we are and provide far mroe functionality for the cost.
The only thing i miss at all are phecnacine darts and those came from the scout profession. Tracking was nice but other than for players i could find any creature i wanted to hunt on a mission terminal, i never needed it for hunting.
ok, my turn to hit the punching bags ![]()
in order of importance..

Conceal SHALL work vs NPCs, dammit. The devs DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE HERE. Drop this and Ranger dies. Period. It was already on shakey ground when we didn't have this (hense the rarity of rangers then)... and by MY force of will alone it shall be. (mmm... any doubt as to my position on this yet?) ![]()

Let's not talk of replacing Nraas. Lets instead talk of getting him a spine
. I too worried that he might be getting "chummy" with the "suites" but I think we can cure him of it
. I think his over-use of bullets is a lost cause, however
.
Remember, it's his "State of the Profession" that now every correspondant has to provide. That has to count for something
.

As far as changing things "right this minute" goes, I can wait a bit longer. I can operate on knowns better then "unknowns", having to adjust constantly. I know its been sense August, but that really isn't a terribly long time. If it comes to NEXT August and nadda, then you got me. Camps can wait. Traps can wait. Even critter "uberness". I have methods that work now, and I'll do just fine.

GCW stuff, while not a priority with me, is important. The devs must not overlook this. I think Nraas needs to get GreenMarine's nose pointed in the general direction of the Antarian Ranger lore. I don't even think he is aware of it (GM that is) currently.
Notice, no bullets
. Sadly, could not resist the numbering... so I'm weak...

definate no on removeing Nrass as coorespondant. HE is the best asset we have in makeing sure we actually become a fully functional class. Not to mention a key element of why this community is such a pleasant one. He is helpfull articulate and does and admirable job. As fo green marine I wouldn't blame him either he is aparently incharge of not only all the recent content additions but three of the more broken proffesions. The problem is SOE and the design team lead. Green Marine should be freed to work on one thing add rangers and chefs to another devs list and give green marine some working proffs to oversee while fixing smugglers or however else the split would go. in the end SOE is catering to powergamers and PVP'ers fine but that leaves alot of profesions in the dark especially one now focused on PVE exclusively.
In short Nrass is da' man. But ranger is still broken not as broken as some classes but certainly should get a look at before this inane combat redux. SOE has priorities and we're not it. maybe we should start whining and threatening to quit en mass like the other classes but I think the character metrics show that economically their better off ignoring us and focusing on Creature Handlers, Bounty Hunters, Comandos, and Pistoleers. who make up the vast majority of thier player base. who cares about he 20% that are Rangers, Droid Engineers, Chefs, Pikemen, or smugglers wondering why thier a combat hybrid.

Did you guys expect a good response after reading the other responses everyone else got? I stoped reading responses to the other professions cause I figured they'd all be the same generic BS.
This new combat system better be the **edit**, or else I'm going to be really dissapointed.. yes, more so then the previous disapointment, and the one before that... oh wait..and the one before that one as well.
[DEV] We will get to that soon
[Players] You said that months ago.
"We have been shown the path Rangers, do we have the courage to follow?"
I keep reading the first post over and I get hung on this line. What path have we been shown? We have a statement about us being ultimate creature hunters..... whats that mean? There is no path ahead, far as I can tell its just a quick statement that took someone 2 secs to conjour up.
Am I missing something, do we actually have a path ahead? Lets assume that this isnt yet another yarn to string us along for another 6 months, we become the ultimate creature hunters.... not sure about anyone else but I dont have a problem hunting creatures now. What can they add to make it better? Well working tracking would be nice, course that didnt even get an honorable mention in the bug list. Traps working would also be nice, its being looked into
So what are we getting thats all that grand?

Darn, you beat me to it. I was just about to post this exact same thing.

/conceal: This command allows you to apply a camoflage kit to become far less detectable by NPCs and creatures while in the concealed state. This can be used on other players.
This is word for word from the /concel command in-game. It sounds to me like they intended for it to work vs NPCs.
As a previous poster said, we actually have yet to be shown a path. Where is it?
The abilities that will then differentiate us from scouts in a nutshell:
1. Camouflage that allows us to 'Mask Scent' someone else.
2. The ability to crawl really really fast.
3. Large tents which function primarily as a novelty item.
4. The rockstar ability to track.
5. Somewhat larger harvests from animals.
6. The addition of a stun/dizzy trap and a short duration root trap.
7. The ability to draw aggro onto ourselves with rescue.
Of all our distinguishing features I only find 4 & 5 to be worth the points
spent on them. As both come from advancing the tracking tree, it suggests
that the three other branches and master (53 points!) are not worth the cost of
advancing them. Unfortunately it seems ranger is being cast firmly as a
"Role-Player's class".
As a side note, I actually found cammo worth-while under the assumption that
NPCs were supposed to be avoided by it as well. With this not the case, and
with this rather half-assed selective response we've received I see no more
reason to retain Master Ranger. Further, I would strongly suggest any aspiring
rangers look elsewhere - perhaps when no one is willing to play a Ranger in SWG
they'll actually consider the failings in the class as it exists.
Sad... I've *always* played a ranger/druid/woodsman type in MMORPGs, and this is
the first time I've felt as though it were a waste of my time. Later.
