Beautifully stated and most agreed. But one of my favourite things to do is sling some of the more noisy traps at someones mob and have it make that loud ass noise right next to them. Makes em crap their pants when they don't see it coming.

having people ask what profession the "Wayfarer" title comes from, then they stand there in awe when i say "ranger"
never having to take missions when i'm hunting for meat/hide/bone, i use areatrack
when people say "nice camp", even though I can't make the HTFB, yet...
knowing that I am rarer than a Jedi (which are supposedly extinct)
selling herbivore meat to my doctor friend for 25 cpu

You know, I agree with everyone that, yes, we do need some lovin'. It's been far too long. But as with many of my fellow long-time Master Rangers, I love:
- The traps (yes, they do work... as well as any other AoE attack, that is). Sometimes I'll go hunting with guildmates and do nothing but throw traps. And yes, I do use a lot of Glow wires and Stink bombs, but to be able to stand back and throw stuns and dizzies and blinds at will just rocks.
- The HTFB just goes without saying
- /Areatrack is the bomb, yo.
- The pride in having mastered this profession last year, and never having once considered dropping it. I've seen Master Rangers come and go; and I know nine times out of ten, when I see a new one, they won't last (and to be honest, a lot of times I'm glad to see them go, to be honest -- I'm sorty of catty about people I know dabbling in my profession
) - As has been said many times before, and more eloquently at that: Ranger is not what I do; Ranger is who I am. You know, I was a Rifleman back when they sucked beyond the telling of it; and I'll still be a Rifleman when we're not Uber after the Combat Balance (tm), but Rifleman is what I do. It's not a part of me like Ranger is
- Bullet points (hehe)
- The harvesting bonus could be better, but it's still good
- Maybe this falls under the heading of RP, but I like the mystery. Not one week goes by that I don't get at least three or four /tells from people asking me exactly what the heck Rangers can do.
I could go on and on, but despite all of our shortcomings, I'll never drop Ranger. Never.

from a tactical pov i quite like the crawl speed bonus (m. ranger/m. rifleman baby), but the best is /arearack. there is just something wonderful about hunting a peko peko albatross & knowing where their spawn points are using only the tracking skill. makes one really feel like a hunter.
that's the 'lemonade' of ranger -- really feeling like the profession you play, not just a bunch of stats in a random first person shooter.
though, i do have to echo an earlier post... just like i can't stand using dial-up now that i have had a cable modem for 3 yrs, i can not stand playing a toon without advanced terrain neg!

I love being a Hide and meat whore, Its a nice way to make some good creds without crafting.
Swordsman is a joy to have with Ranger, Power hammer and /areatrack = good times.

the community is great. ive never ran into an **edit** ranger. and it aint bad making 4mil credits in two days of hunting.

-The fact that we all have a sense of humor and don't take ourselves too seriously
-We're not grinders or AFK macro players
-Jedi need us now lol!
-Traps are great
-Combat requires some thought
-I can solo stuff that my rifleman buddy cant....unbuffed.
-I know it's been said, but the people and the community
-Making enough in 2 hours play time to be set for weeks
-Bothans that bring hooch(I'm still trying to finda way to forage booze)
-My clients need to be on a mount to keep up with me on foot.
-the list goes on...

Helping jedi friends grind before the revamp was the best since I harvested almost 1 million units of Dathomirian Carnivore meat $$$$$

Harvest... but let me havest it all! What a waste of perfectly good hide and bone to get that meat.
People /tell me for training, scouting usually
People ask me about being a ranger
I get /tells from people saying that it's cool that I'm a ranger
The smart chefs and doctors put me on mailing lists for when meat shifts in.

Since Rangers are rarer than Jedi now...I always make it a point to stop and bow to a Ranger (especially master) and I Rp the encounter as if I had bumped into a RL famous celebrity for example.
I tell them it is an honor to meet a Ranger.
I saw a female Master Ranger on Lok, Chilastra the other day and almost fainted.
If I ever see a female Bothan master ranger I will ask the toon to marry my toon, lol.
