I doubt it, unless it's 40% per master ranger, which could get silly.
As you were saying, you and I have worked together in the past, that's great. However with this change, it'd mean we'd be tied to hunting together all the time to get the most harvest. Given that we have totally seperate lives and live in different time zones, it doesn't bode well does it.

I'm wondering the same thing, but with a slightly different take. Since I'm a Master Ranger, if I DO get in a group, any group ("solo" group, hunting group, whatever) - does that mean that I'm then getting 40% bonus to my harvest since I'm ALWAYS within 64m of myself? To be truthful, I don't see this as horribly bad for many of us who enjoy hunting solo. What's to say you can't join a group, then go off your own way and hunt by yourself? You don't HAVE to stay within 64m of everyone, in fact you get a 20% bonus just by grouping with "anyone" - and since we are Rangers, I would imagine the additional bonuses will always apply for us no matter if we're within 64m of anyone or not.... right?
So if WE want to, we can group, pull a couple of much higher level missions if we want, and take off to parts unknown. Still part of the group, but off doing our own thing. You don't HAVE to take the group with you, and you should still get at least some of the harvest bonus simply by being grouped, right? How is this a bad thing? The worst thing I can see is all of the "hey, I need this, come hunt with me to give me a bonus" type tells that we MIGHT see.

Dave's point of view is understandable. As much as it sucks to consider someone's benefit to be a penalty to you - it does work like that. This whole harvesting discussion came from the same idea. The 20% bonus to everyone was seen as a lessening of the importance of Ranger and was argued against for that reason. Many people saw the arguments Owen and Phen and everyone made against the 20% as selfish and whining etc.
A lot of people like to group, and a lot of people like to solo. It sucks to feel that you are being penalized for how you choose to play the game. Right now they are heavily trying to encourage group play, since it has been so radiacally solo-oriented for so long. However, if you don't like what they are doing you should definitely speak your mind. Its been just proven that this works.
I personally like the bonus. Ironically Paks has also lost all her hunting companions and is always solo, just her and a pet. And I still like it. Everyone has different opinions.

For the record, I think it's good that the group penalty is gone. If I can group my my harvesting droid and still get this bonus, then I'll also be happy, however nobody has even intimated this will be so, yet. Therefore I'm assuming it won't be the case until I hear different.
As for what I'm not happy about, Vorpaks summed it up nicely.
As for SOE strongly pushing group play, then they shouldn't sell SWG as a MMORPG, they should sell it as a MMOCRPG, "massively multiplayer online conditional-roleplay game". Because theRP will be on the condition you don't RP as a soloist!

Tiggs stated (serach the Dev Tracker...I don't have time to link it, sorry) that the only the highest bonus in the group is considered (they do not stack). In other words, 2 master Rangers who are grouped will only get a 40% increase, not 80%. A master Ranger and Master Scout in teh same group will get a 40% bonus, not 60%.

ok, if I read this right... nov ranger gets you 30%, master Ranger gets you 40%.
I'm iffy... think they should make it Master Scout 30%, or leave it Nov Ranger?

nah. there needs to be a reason to go master Ranger. There are too many 0040 Rangers as it is.
Besides, think about it. Right now everyone gets +20%...if they made it +30% for novice scout, then everyone would get +30%. If you are able to harvest, you have to have novice scout. If you're group hunting, everyone will have at least novice scout.

STILL haven't had a chance to test this properly, but I've got a few concerns:
The 64m radius.
If you are attacking a MoB that is likely to warp OR run when it's HAM gets low, you're going to have part of the group chase after the prey and part of the group going "huh? where'd they go?". Chances are they are going tobe more than 64m away.
Riflemen working in a group tend to spread out to be able to get the lair in a crossfire. Given the optimum range for many weaps is out at the 50-60+m range they're going to already be 64m apart, unless they can all then 'run in' and harvest at the same time they're going to lose the bonuses.
LAG. Dathomir. Entire party is suddenly 200m away from the Ranger because he's on dial up and it's laggy tonight. Nuff said
I can understand the reasoning behind the 64m but it needs to be expanded out to allow for the realities of harvesting.

Well, I think that's part of the point of hunting with other people you like.
I remember hunting with the AR guild on Eclipse. Each time we all knew what we were doing and we did it together. We killed everything, waited to make sure, and then harvested together. When a creature ran away, we would kill it and remember where the corpse was. People harvested teh same corpse at the same time. Not saying your concerns aren't valid...just saying most of them would go away if you hunt smart.

True, true. Am just thinking ahead to when this hits on Live and MR's start refusing to group up with anyone apart from a few regulars they know BECAUSE folk keep going out of range.
That and am ticked that I've STILL not been able to get in and test properly, lol.
