Bwahahahaha! I moved to Denver from the UK in 1998 - unfortunately, my best man wouldn't fall for the "Oh, they're lovely, freshwater oysters are common in Colorado and New Mexico" trick. I did manage to give him Taco Bell/Toxic Hell Stomach before he went home though, which was nice.

Hehe paks Lard = basically solidified raw fat, used mainly in frying pans etc to stop things sticking.
Real butter though is the boss. Im not sure if you have Lurpak over there but over here its the taste of heaven. Margerine on butties? Urg. Margerine is for baking buns and scones, not for buttering bread hehe. Otherwise it would be called mergerining bread, not buttering it.

Exactly!
Ever heard of a margarine knife?
All margarine shortbread?
The little known flower a margarine-cup?
ummm.... *drums fingers whilstsucking pencil, thinking of other things that begin with butter* - *eventually gives up*
Just to confuse our American Cousins even more Lard was also half of the Radio Comedy Duo "Mark and Lard" but you really wouldn't want to grease up your baking sheet with one of those...

OK, you Brits (meaning all inhabitants of the UK, not including the Irish, who are different) are just plain nutz.
Do you have Waffle Houses over there? The brief stop over I spent ( 18 hours and a lot of great beer) didn't let me explore all that much. Nothing better than the 2am, the bars just closed, let's hit Waffle House breakfast. Eggs, toast, hashbrowns with cheese, pancakes, coffee, juice. The nectar of the gods...
Or Wendy's? Altho McDonalds (a fine Scottish establishment) has the better fries.
And Mark and Lard can't be any better than John Boy and BIlly.

will that download never end????

Uch.. McDonalds... Burger King fries give McDonalds a trouncing. But they are both beaten hands down by proper, 'local chippy chips'.
Tried Wendys when i was in Canada once.. all tastes the same tbh, mcdonalds, burger king, wendies etc.

Nah, no waffle houses in the UK as far as I'm aware. To be honest though, I'd rather use breakfast to cure the hangover, and head straight for either a curry or a nice greasy doner kebab with extra chilli sauce and onions when the pub shuts

this has to be the most INSANE thread I've seen in a while.
I LOVE IT!
buttered fried potatoes on bread. just get the plastic and stop an artery... it'll be quicker.
cripes... wonder what you people would make of pork roll a/k/a Taylor Ham... STRICTLY a NYC area thing.
shame I've never had it... I prefer a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich with OJ. no coffee, never touch the stuff.

I've seen Taylor Pork Roll down here in Florida, I just haven't had the nuts to try it yet (maybe this weekend while watching the footy [BCFC against ManYoo, 10am EST])
Let me tell you, if Taylor Pork Roll ever made its way to Glasgow, they'd batter it and fry it. You can get ANYTHING fried in a chip shop there!
