I thought about this too at great lengths and here is what I came to realize:

Camping is not all about healing.

Its lacking in the game, yeah ... but I kinda like sitting around yaking.. and a camp allows those players that like the 'wilds' to stay (a little bit at least) self-sufficient. To me, the role of camps should be this:

-You go out, do some killing with your group. After a while, your group's battle fatigue is about 25 and you got about 10-20 wounds. You pull out a camp, sit and chat and after about 10 minutes you are as good as new, quicker in more advanced camps.
-If you let the BF or wounds go higher, camps can't heal it. For example. BF 0-25, normal healing. BF 25-50 (50% less healing). BF 50-200 (95% less healing ie. EXTREMELY slow). BF over 200 doesn't heal - you need a lapdance. Similar outcome with wounds.
-So basically camps are worked into the hunting equation like this: If you camp often - the party stays in good health. If you are in a hurry and don't want to - you're gonna need a trip to town.

That is certainly a novel idea. I never looked at camps that way before. Good work Yesurb

Scooter, the "nerf" comment was just to get the docs attention. And I wanted to keep stuff all over here in one thread. I have felt for some time that the droids should provide bonuses to med structures. By themselves, they should have a low rating.

I'm not crying about our need for survival xp. Getting survival xp sucks anyway. And I'm glad I don't have to craft a tent anymore just because one of my group members need to whip out his kaadu to ride back to town and train.

Most servers have an abundance of doc's these days, so unless you are out on your own, there is no need for a camp unless you somehow managed to create a group without any medics at all.

My goal here was to get ppl to read this thread and possibly throw some support behind a model that that supported group play and gave a purpose to our camping skills.

This remodel of the droid would actually be a boost to all med professions because it would give them a higher rating than they would normally achieve even with a droid if they combined it with the right structure. This also puts some reliance on rangers and scouts when they are out in the field. It used to be very disappointing to toss down a field base and have the local medic pull his droid then leave the camp because if he did his healing in the camp, he was using a lower med rating than his droid had, becausethe structure's rating had priority over the droid's.

Now we have a situation where if we drop a camp while the medic heals the group, its just for aesthetics. The camps don't really give the protection from aggro mobs that they should (this is obviously our problem that we need the dev's to fix). I really think that this model can create a better balance between medics/doctors and scout/rangers and create a line of interdependence which we just lost (however small it really was).

Here's the problem, as I see it.

Doc+Droid => Doc+Medical Center

Doc+Droid => Doc+Droid+Medical Center

Doc+Droid > Doc+Camp

Doc+Droid > Doc+Droid+Camp

These are all bad things.

Good things that are also true:

Doc+Droid > Doc

Doc+Medical Center > Doc

Doc+Camp > Doc

Things which are not true, but should be:

Doc+Camp => Doc+Droid

Doc+Camp+Droid > Doc+Droid

Doc+Medical Center > Doc+Droid

Doc+Medical Center+Droid > Doc+Droid

Droids should be an enhancement, not a replacement. They are currently a replacement.

Well doctors are the most reliant on other classes as any of them get. We have dependencies everywhere.

And your base premise is to add a dependecy to get have a level of ability we already have. If thats not a nerf I dont know wjat is.

We need no more dependencies, thank you.

Now the issue to rework droids so we get a better benefit from using them in certain structures is a completely separate thing, but your initial points are that we would not get 110 usage in the field unless we were in a camp, thus introducing a dependency to achieve a level we have today. That is a nerf.

And you gotmy attention.

I agree we should get better abilities in a med center, with a droid as opposed to not having a droid. A completely different subject.

Then make it 120.

You are SO correct yet no one seems to care...

I have authored numerous threads on the same topic, because I am a master doctor...

*cough* hospitals are just as useless

Droids need to be COMPLIMENTS to htfb and med centers...

Dont let a de hear us saying this, as med droids are the only thing they sell, so they blame people that want the uber med droids lowered, for the fact that their profession sux arse.

Instead of looking for things to nerf, why not concentrate that energy on finding more uses for camps?

lol see I told ya! lol!

We don't want droids nerfed! we just dont want med droids to be better than an entire building (hospitals) or a disposable HTFB.

Think of the resources required to make a HTFB and it can only be up for, lets say 1 hour 15?

A droids resources last almost forever.

The HTFB comes with medical cots and stations it should have a higher medical rating. period.

A droid would COMPLIMENT THE HTFB

Dont blame your failing profession on others when you know darn well that medical droids were never intended to be REPLACEMENTS for hospitals and camps...

So instead of holding on to your ONE droid thats overpowered, try getting the other 20 droids fixed.

A better proposal would be to make camps BETTER with out nerfing something else. this game has seen one too many nerfs. make it so you can experiment on your camps and add modules to make them heal better/faster or maybe give you a slight mind buff. Leave droids alone, concentrate on proposing good fixes/additions to your camps. and its a great thing we do not need camps to call pets/vehicles, now they just need to remove that useless timer.

Youre contradicing yourself...

Raising the values on camps over droids without lowering droids IS nerfing the droid.

Leave droids 110 make htfb 120 is the same as making htfb 110 and droid 100, still 10 different.

Hospitals and HTFBare 100 med rating and droids are 110 by themselves, justify that, DE.

Droid IN hospital or htfbbumping its rating up an additional 10 or sois the answer.

My suggestion...,

Droid alone = 110 hospital alone=120 droid plus hospital = 130

You will not lose any sales, you will see camps and hospitals with surgical droids in them. as intended
