Ranger Archive
Thread: Uh-oh, ranger's are going out of balance worse in the next patch.
BTW I am not talking about corrilian herb meat, that is almost as absurd as tat avian.
A ranger would be insane to take orders for that and that is a case wher thery do deserve a lot bacause that is a lot of work.
But ranger chargs huge amounts for Endor Herb, Lok avian, Naboo avian...all which is easy to harvest
So yeah I was not meaning the absurd drops
Cool, I was just pointing out the fallacy in saying meat is easy to harvest. On a side note, not all Rangers charge high prices for meat (there are tone of scouts out there who are selling resources). In fact, not all of charge for meat. I know I am being a nit picker.....sorry for that, I hate when I generalize as much as I hate when others do. On a side note, befriend a Ranger, and you may be able to avoid the high prices.

I think that sometimes people write those inflammatory posts to get people riled up and cause a little inter-professionary war.
I am nervous and a little annoyed that while camps are being removed as requisites to pull pets/ droids/ vehicles, I grudgingly welcome the fact that no longer will we have to waste resources to pull a speeder out of my backpack.
Some of us see this as ranger/ scout functionality being lost, others see it differently. I would rather focus my time and energy on brainstorming with my ranger peers to improve camps specifically so that we are happy and as a result, other players and professions are happy about what new cool things our camps will be able to do in the future.
I never understood why a camp has to disband when the Ranger enters combat (especially when the camps aren't doing the repleeing they'r esupposed to be doing). One of the greates things tht could be done to camps is to remove the requirement that the automaticly disband when the ranger(scout) enters combat.
One this will save us on a ton of resources. High Tech Field Bases take enough resources from three or four harvests plus steel. Sometimes I don't have enough resources to sell because I have made so many camps on a hunt. Of course that will probably change now with the new publish as less people will need camps of any kind.
In any event, if you abandon the camp, it should time out. But Rangers are supposed to be people of the wild, not city people. I never understood why a ranger could not use a high tech field base indefinately (considering its size, granduer, usefulness). Hence the name Field Base. The smaller scout camps should probably collapse once combat starts, but the larger camps should be able to be returned to after combat.
The fields bases represent an ability to exist long term on the frontier without the need to return to a city. The fact that they disappear after the first shot is kind of ridiculous.
Also, we have our musicians and entertainers, and they server a great role in our game. However, they are rarely in the field. I think the greatest think that could be added to the camp is some kind of music device (call it a jukebo, radio, whatever). Allow it to give really low end mind wound healing so that we don't have to travel all the way back to Naboo everytime a Kimo dragon smiles at us on Lok.
Just my suggestions.

But camps already heal all wounds, including mind wounds...
I think a great idea is t have modules. Starting at novice Ranger and going up the Frontiering Line, you get more module to include in your camps, and the High tech field bases wouldbe able to have the most modules in them. There could be crafting station modules, heal bonus modules, regen bonus, mission terminal, and some others.
And camps should not disband in combat. That's ridiculous. I'm not allowed to defend myself if I want to keep my camp? Either I fight and lose the camp or disband the camp and then fight, and I still lose it. That sucks.
2) We also know that docs rely on scouts, rangers, BH, and CH's these are all professions that can and do harvest for cash. Therefore, the gouging done by the harvesters is purely a market demand. For example I get an email from a doctor asking for 20k Tat meat for 60 cpu. I know that that will take 3 to 4 days of casual gaming to fill that order. I really dont have time to do much else, so the doc is paying for my time, expensese, stims, repair, and then the meat. While I am hunting for that doctor, I get no less than 10 tells from other doctors asking me for the same thing. I explain to them that I am already doing an order and i dont have time to do any more, I will try, but dont expect much, then i give them the names of 4 or 5 rangers that I know of. Doctor #2 says, I will pay you 75 cpu for the meat if you harvest it for me. I politely decline, Im not going to screw a previous order for more cash. The doctor sends me another tell asking if i will reconsider for 100cpu. Still I decline.
My point in this is, that it is not always the ranger who is gouging, when you consider that a BH harvests only 20% less per kill than we do, Rangers also have a fairly high competition for harvesting rights. Then the docs, whenever there is an uber meat, will do what they can within their means to secure the most meat as possible. Not all docs, rangers, BH, scouts etc...are in it for the pleasure, some people live to make the most credits possible.
I dont want to decry the doctors, they are getting their crafting played with for better or for worse, im not sure.
The droid issue is this, It makes more sense that a camp+droid+doctor would be better than droid+doctor, yet worse than hospital+droid+doctor. I think that is the crux of the argument.
Rangers have been asking for a long time to get harvesting bonuses, we really need it to meet the demand, however, as long as the demand is higher than the supply, prices will be high, and there will be a lot of competition.
I do not want to appear to be flaming anyone at all, I am trying to cut through and reasonably show that the problems dont lie with soley the rangers, or docs, or whoever, the problems with this seem to be bigger than just the rangers or doctors.
Let me know what you think, and return this to a discussion about not what's wrong, but how we can all prosper under the new rules.
Meat is extrememly easy to harvest; I have it down to a keystroke. Large stacks required for factory runsare not quite as esay to harvest. The largest harvest of Corelian herb meat I have ever gotten (master Ranger + my lizard bonus + veghash = +125 bonus on harvesting) was ~30 units for a violent krahbu and a rogue baggie (best Corellian Herb meat droppers). It takes a little while to get the 10k stacks that are usually required. Just a clarification...continue the debate

Docs already have a HUGE interdependency on rangers and maybe you should think about that first. You already chargs us 30-100 cpu for uber meats that are very easy to harvest. Now you want to nerf our droids so we are forced to take you to dungeons.
