I aim to please, but seriously though coffe filters have been the bain of my existence for so long. I could have kept going but I decided it was probably wise to go to class instead. I wont even get started on PS2 and XBox fps games that have a story line. They usually end with me throwing stuff and cussing at the TV.

Damn pens. The kind you write with. Its frustrating as hell when you have only a few seconds to write something down, but drop the pen you just picked up. But it doesn't stop there. No, you reach down to pick it up from under your chair only to have the sneaky bastrad slip from your grip yet again. Of course this time it falls farther under your chair, so you bend over to pick it up. However, when your hand is down underneath your chair reaching for the pen, and when you roll your chair back so you can reach farther you manage to run over every sinlge finger with one of the wheels. The resistence you hit could have just been carpet, but no it had to be your fingers. Then after cussing silently you try to pick the pen up, only to have it slip from you grasp again. This process happens a few more times until you finally get the pen picked up. Just in time to see what you were going to write down flash away. Youclose your eyes and take a couple deep breaths to keep from wiggin out So you tell yourslef that "I just saw it, I can remember", so you click the pen to write whatever down before you forget. But to your amazement this elusive pen does not work. This does it. You stand up and do the only thing you can think of and thats throwing the pen as hard as you can at the hardest immobile object you see. Of course it doesnt work out that way and the little damn clip on the pen snags your finger, so you end up stabbing yourself in the thigh.

Finally had my first day on TC-5 today. Wow! did I ever underestimate just how bad this thing would be. The new system is awful, not only does the removal of the combat que doesn't mean you can't quite tell what you're doing, or what you're going to do next, it also means you're left hammering buttons because you're not sure what's been accepted and what's been rejected!

Then the icons! They're too detailed for their own good. It's fine viewing them in a web browser looking at all the pretty pictures, but when you're in the game, trying to concentrate on what you're doing, you have to squint at these shrunk down pictures trying to form some logical map in your head of what they all mean which is hampered by actually trying to dicern what the pictures are. The icons in the old system are far better because they're simple.

Oh, and then yes, the sound effects. In the "old" game we have authentic STAR WARS sound effects, which helps add to the "Star Wars Experience", now we have firearms that sound like really poorly pneumatic engines!!!

The non-medic stims are also a load of crap, but then I expected that because if they were any better, then they'd undermine the medic profession. Speaking of the medic profession, I bumped into a very disgruntled medic who told me he could only gain medic experience while healing someone in combat. Apparently, healing people out of combat doesn't gain them experience. Well that's all the medical centers on the scrap heap then!

Thus far, the combat revamp (and no, it isn't an upgrade) is far worse than I'd thought it be, and I had pretty low expectations to start with.

The whole idea of the CU is to make combat fast paced and interactive. What skill you have qued up 2 down the line may be irrelevent by then depending on how the opponent reacts and counters. You fire one shot that goes off right away (or goes into warmup) and then can que another which is anything but hidden (big bold yellow highlight). Thats as far as you need to plan ahead for fights if you want to maintain any sortof fast paced and interactive element to combat.

It takesa while to get used to but i love it now and as i get a full skill portfolio i expect the system to realy come into its own. At present we only have so many skills we can fire off and only a couple of skills that are used against us so there isnt much interaction beyond spamming. Once you get your skill portfolio and so do the enemies it will be great to counter and react to what the enemy is doing, in particular in pvp.

Point is, dont shoot it down this early when you havnt even given it a chance to work. It does take time to get used to but its there for a reason and 1 in use and 1 stacked que should be adequate.

Well, I thought it appropriate to put my "early ordinance" in this thread, given the subject line.

When you say "What skill you have qued up 2 down the line may be irrelevent by then depending on how the opponent reacts and counters", that's quite right. However, that is no reason to get ridof the combat que. The combat que can be cleared by pressing ctrl-backspace. Therefore you can wipe what you were going to go and que up a new set of commands, as the situation changes (I use this method a lot in-live while hunting). Which, IMHO, is the best of both worlds. Also, I just like having the que there, it lets me see what's going on more clearly, with this new system, I don't know what's been qued and what hasn't, therefore I don't know what I'm doing.

What we have on TC/TC-5 just feels like playing Street Fighter, and if I wanted to do that, I could do it without subscribing to an MMORPG.

Not exactly a shocker mate

Seriously though, I really didn't expect it to be this bad. It feels horrible.

Freakin coffee filters. Why do they put 10000 of them in a pack? I make a pot of coffee every morning. I have done this almost everday for the last 4 months. I've been through two things of coffe, but i havent' even killed the second tier of filters. I get down to my last one and think I have made a big accomplishment by finishing up the second tier, but hell no the last one is actually four stuck together. Thats soemthing else, there is nothing more frustrating than wanting to get your pot of coffee started but you can't because you have to wrastle with the bastards for 25 damn minutes just to ba able to get only one. It blows my mind how corporations could make something so simple, somethig that is such a damn time sink.

My coffee machine died. I blame the CU.

It was a nice filterless one (has a gold plated metal filter that you just rinse out and re-use. Smart, huh?) but it's been refilled and emptied so often since Thursday last that something went phutt.

Ah well, shopping trip tomorrow

Oh yeah, that was the thing I was going to say! I used to work for a coffee supplier, and when I was made redundant I still had a couple of cases of really nice coffee in the office here... lasted nearly a year. You think its a small triumph getting to teh bottom of a box of filters? Nothing compared to the shock that you're going to have to actually BUY coffee for the first time in 10 months!

Never liked coffee. But I've been smoking like a frickin' chimney lately. Is that how you spell chimney? Doesn't look quite right. I honestly don't believe I've ever had cause to write that word before. Anyway, my lungs are killing me. Thanks a lot, SOE.

That is indeed how you spell chimney!

However sticking frickin' in front of it makes you sound just like that most believable of cockney chimney sweeps, D!ck van Dyyke( Can you believe it flags the name D!ck and Dyyke (with one y) as bad but, ass is allright? Intelligent systems indeed! Its not like im some 8yr old that thinks certain words are cool (though I do find it offensive to have my expansive vocabulary curtailed)). An actor and performance worth its own ranting thread in my opinion!

Gor blimey guv'nor, he just busted a cap in you ass! (Mary Poppins - the remake).

That was a typo. Imeant to sayfrackin'. Anyway, I never saw Mary Poppins. If a movie doesn't feature Lee Van Cleef shooting someone in the face, it's not worth my time. I'm pretty sure that scene in mary poppins ended up on the cutting room floor. I'll bet the 200k in union gold was given over to orphans or penguins or something, too. Lame.

I wonder how healing inside a camp would work? Would that give xp?

I am finally getting mad.

I knew going into Ranger that it was not an "uber" profession, and that suited me fine. I knew that it wasn't perfect, I accepted that, it's a part of MMORPGs.

When I found out that my camps were useless and many players in groups considered them a waste of time, I lived with it. *I* liked them.

When I discovered I was penalized for grouping, I said I'd just be patient until it was fixed.

When I found out that half my traps were useless, I didn't let it bother me. I still had some good ones.

When I found out that there were "holes" in my tracking range, I said, "I'll just work around them."

When they penalized us for soloing, I began to feel helpless.

When our harvesting droids broke, I decided I'd just hang in there.

When I found out that Image Designers were getting a SP reduction, I said, "It doesn't affect Rangers." Then when they made it so we're the only class that requires mastering a Novice class, I said I'd just live with it, because I could not affect it.

When they left us out of the CU, I got irritated, but made the effort to keep calm.

But now--Riflemen get the ability to drop off of radar. And we do not. WE spend two trees on stealth. They do not spend a single box. And THEY get the ability.

That's it. That's the last straw. I'm mad. We have been broken, nerfed, and had our abilities passed out to other classes. We have been told we're not a combat class, when we clearly are (hey, if Doctors are, so are we). Without combat, we have nothing to do. Even if we're not doing the killing, we have to be there to use our remaining abilities besides Mask Scent/Camo. WE ARE A COMBAT CLASS.

Enough already. I AM VEXED! It's bad enough we don't get to go onto the playground, but now they're giving our toys away! GRAR!

I love being a Ranger. I don't want to stop, but if we can't be fixed, I at least want us to be INCLUDED.
