I really like my little R3 unit. I have my harvest commands macro'd and then hotkeyed on the keyboard. I love that I can keep fighting and have the droid harvest for me. A couple weeks ago Rancor meat and hide were both just uber on my server. I spent several nights out with my droid and don't think I ever stopped fighting. I just spammed AreaAttack3 on the lair and let my droid harvest the bodies circling around me.

One thing I've had problems with, he's a real chicken. Nearly every time the lair spawned the little **edit** would get freaked and run away! It got so bad I had to hotkey my /shout follow command and spam that in preparation for the lair spawn.

No real comment on the xp issue, I've been maxed on almost every type of xp i can get for months so I don't even think about it anymore.

*EDIT: I can't believe what the boards edit sometimes. Someone got a little twitchy with the language filter.

Hi Scarin are you grouping your harvesting droid? I never group mine and he never takes agro - he just sits there and whistles at me....

I feel like im not on the same pace. ive got a harvesting droid that ive never used. mainly cause i dont no how to. i know i probably should, but when i click my handy macro(/tellpet harvest) the little guy just ends up running in the opposite direction(a long ways). im sure its the user not the droid. so ive never got any benefit from one when ive needed it. fighting multiple kimos at once is when ive needed it the most, and hard stuff like that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you only get half xp when the droid harvest, compared to what you would have if you harvest yourself.

For the numbers, 104-8 is doable on about every server(as long as high quality resources are available).
Higher than 110 require not only the best resources, but also luck. You need a critical success to do so (basically high Droid assembly skill). That's because it require steel with high Conductivity and OQ and the conductivity on steel almost never go higher than 650.

On the droid running away all the time, don't group with it, it'll run much less often.

To have an usefull harvester droid, he must have an harvesting rate at least as high as yours.

Probot is also an option. You can only have 5 modules in it, but it does have combat capabilities without the need of a module, so he won't run away. And he is a little faster than the R3.

Hope that help.

Oh how I wish he just hang out and whistle like that...

Actually, he wasn't grouped when I was hunting rancors and had the most problems. (I was in one of those "Solo rancor groups" most of the time so I couldn't invite him. I'm not proud of it, but a Ranger has got to make monkey somehow right.)

Truthfully, I haven't seen much of a difference whether its grouped or not, but I know what you're getting at. There's been a couple threads lately about odd agro behavior, including ideas about mobs agroing different group members at random. Personally I think its the standard anti-Ranger treatment; Creatures can sense us like we can them and therefore go straight after us... I guess that includes our droids too

There are 10 types of people in this world... those who know binary and those who don't.

Interesting - I've noticed that some critters are programmed to stalk and kill odd things. Back before speeders, I remember that I had a naboo swamp stalker take out my mount -- I was maskscented and I thought that the swamp stalker was after me, but instead he agro'ed my mount . Who knows, maybe rancors have a special aversion to droids -- I have to admit that the hardest creatures that I have hunted with my droid are yavin iv creatures (which are very nice compared to dath creatures).
