But I do have one complaint .I used to have a Cargo pocket that I renamed "Trap Pouch" and it used to be filled with handy little traps that I could throw at a moments notice. Now because I have chosen to use a easier way of getting by in our daily duties of harvesting I can no longer throw the traps while they are inside the pouch, instead they must be individually taken out and placed into my inventory which must be opened during a hunt and thrown.A small bit to pay but something I'd like to share with my fellow ranger friends.

As a Rifleman a harvesting droid is a must for me. I let the little bugger do all the moving for me. /maskscent /concealshot /tellpet harvest

I just wish I could whip out a nice chair to lounge in as it fetches more hides than I would if my lazy butt had walked over to the corpse.

I just wish I would have had Master Droid Engineer Plump name my droid Master Ranger. :/

Guys, YES DROIDS ARE EFFECTIVE IF U BUY ONE WITH VERY HIGH CREATURE HARVESTING BONUS.
I just bough in my Server Naritus a nice R3 with 114 Creature Harvesting Bonus!!!. Yes i know this may not be available in all servers, and in toher servers 117 droids are very much possible ( read in the DE froum that the record of the highest CH harvesting droid is a 117 one)

If u are Master ranger, and you eat 32+ Veghash, AND use a 114 Droid on a Rancor .... u wanna know what numbers i got???

I GOT AN EXTRA 25 units of meat per Rancor if i used the droid!!!

Of course if i used the droid with the smae veghas on lwer levelr creature, i gor bonus of only 2-4 units per corpse.

So definetely, yes, they are worth ..... ONLY IF U BUY A HIG LEVE ONE. Dont even think of buyin anything less that lets say a 105 CH Droid ( which i belive can be bought in any galaxy) cuz u wont see any difference.

Our Master DE uses a BLL, (Binary Load Lifter) as his harvesting droid, it looks F'ing sweet out there in the field.

I guess BLL's can hold a S' Load of modules or something and therefore make the best harvestors.

Talk to your local DE!

i disagree witih one of the poster above

basically with a droid-(its like a 3rd method- a method that gives benefits), instead of accessing the radial menu and harvesting or using a hotkey macro to harvest,

but your still doing what your doing, just using a different way, in this case, using a droid to enhance your harvesting. its really no different then doing it by hand, except by hand, you can probably harvest it quicker since the droid moves so slowly(compared to running up to it yourself)toward the corpse you ask it to harvest. the droid only gives benefits.

the droid isn't doing the work for you, because for example:

when i used my harvest droid, i created a hotkey macro to ask the droid to harvest the targetted corpse.

now, thats about 2 clicks = 1 click= to target the corpse , and the 2nd click =to click on the hotkey macro that orders the droid to harvest that corpse.

now, this was the method i used to do before harvester droids:

hotkey macro : /harvest meat or avian..etc. , and i still had to target my corpse. <~thats 2 clicks.

so basically, 2 clicks = 2 clicks. so the amount of 'work' has not changed.

just that, it'll take longer for a droid to move = but gives more benefit as oppose to running toward a corpse yourself faster and harvest every corpse faster.

I think the thing you're missing is that the droid can be harvesting WHILE you are still in combat.

My guess is, they left the xp for droid harvesting in, becuase, who would use it otherwise? People will always use factories, but those droids are barely scraping by as it is.....know what I mean?

Maybe decrease the XP from what the droid harvests to like 1/10th the amount that artistians get when they craft stuff in a factory?

That way it's more inline

That would be nice, since when I make stuff in a factory I dont get XP..

Thats my point in all this, I dont MIND using one, I have one.. but I mind getting XP out of whack with the risk.. even if it is a benefit to me.. more risk means more rewards... standing back and doing nothing dangerous should not get full rewards... get up next to that beasty, risking his mate coming up and stomping on you... get full reward...

The fact that I am there killing things should not enable me to get credit for the work of harvesting.. only if I -actually- go in there and harvest should I get that credit...

Yeah - I do think you have a valid point here -- perhaps even more valid when it comes to trapping droids -- and maybe we should submit a request to the devs to not have droids grant xp (I mean you don't get xp for the damage that a tank droid does -- well, I suppose you do get a combat xp bonus for being grouped). Of course, Delta submitted a request a long time ago for people not to get scouting xp for flying around on their scooters maskscented, and that as of yet, hasn't been implemented.

For me though, the xp issue really doesn't concern me -- I'm a master ranger, my scouting xp is maxxed. OK maybe it is a little unfair that people can use a droid to get a slight scouting xp gain, but, hey, at least they're harvesting something to get their scouting xp, not getting it scooting around Dath maskscented.

I agree that we shouldn't get scouting XP while on bikes either.. it is as far as I am concerned an exploitable situation... I am not a master ranger so I still get XP for my harvests, etc... but I want the risk/reward ratio balanced.. it means more when you have to work for something..

''I think the thing you're missing is that the droid can be harvesting WHILE you are still in combat. ''

yeh i did miss that little detail.... however, my point is still made,

no matter if you can harvest 'during' a fight or not. the amount of 'work' involved has not changed. You still have to select your corpses and harvest and not to mention be right there at all times overseeing your droid and Still do all the clicking.

well harvesting during combat <~ i can see this as a time saver perhaps?, so, basically, if 'time' is the point here, then your saying no xp for harvesting using droids because it lets you accomplishthe task of harvesting faster and gives more resources.

the amount of work is still the same, your right there with the droid, if your not harvesting, your killing the mobs in order to harvest, and thats even more work, not to mention building up battle fatigue and wounds.

but a crafter just collect his resources beforehand, make the schematic, and load it up, and the crafting station does it for him and the crafter can just do 'whatever' he wants. it is not like the crafter is forced to put in say 100 units of metal every 10 seconds while the factory is running. The ranger is having to kill the mobs and target the corpses and making sure the droid doesn't run out of battery and making sure the target mob dies near the droid(since they move pretty slow--well my r3 droid does...).

just the fact that the ranger has to be by the droids side at all times, just the fact the crafter doesn't need to at all......

i dont think they should take out the xp out of harvesting with a droid......

I really like my little R3 unit. I have my harvest commands macro'd and then hotkeyed on the keyboard. I love that I can keep fighting and have the droid harvest for me. A couple weeks ago Rancor meat and hide were both just uber on my server. I spent several nights out with my droid and don't think I ever stopped fighting. I just spammed AreaAttack3 on the lair and let my droid harvest the bodies circling around me.

One thing I've had problems with, he's a real chicken. Nearly every time the lair spawned the little **edit** would get freaked and run away! It got so bad I had to hotkey my /shout follow command and spam that in preparation for the lair spawn.

No real comment on the xp issue, I've been maxed on almost every type of xp i can get for months so I don't even think about it anymore.

*EDIT: I can't believe what the boards edit sometimes. Someone got a little twitchy with the language filter.
