I was hunting Kimos the other day with a few guild members, and when our mind buffs ran out, I dropped a HTFB and the master dancer began to give us a primary mind buff. About that time a Kimo spawned and wanted a snack. Luckly the dancer didnt get aggro'd, wearing that leotard she wouldn't have lasted long. I'd like to see camps either repel aggros or not disband in combat. I think having both would led to exploits.

Actually, this is how things worked near launch. The high level ranger camps didn't disband and repelled creatures. They did a "quick fix" (i.e. nerf) to prevent the exploiting and then never did anything else with it. Sadly, they removed both abilities instead of just one.

It is our feeling at SOE that as Rangers, you should be accustomed to hardship. We are working on a way to disable your mouse, keyboard, and monitor when you log in so you can truly experience the feeling of 'roughing it'.

No need to thank us.

wow...now to this i DID fall off my chair laughing. i can see it now. ranger logs in, monitor/keyboard/mouse get disabled. people start asking the ranger to harvest stuff for them. ranger just stands there. meanwhile, the person behind the ranger is rapidly typing messages on his disabled keyboard. now, if you were to drop ranger, would your mouse/keyboard/monitor turn back on?

I'd like to add that I think the higher camps will repel some agro creatures--but then again, I've also stood in the middle of a huurton pack with no mask scent and no camo, and had them ignore me. It seems to be almost hit and miss these days, unless the chance for animals to overlook Rangers is some passive ability I haven't read about.

I *do* know that I set up a HTFB 40 yards from some big mean spiders on Dath tonight, and while they cruised close to the camp, they left me completely alone for a good half hour.

I'd like to have to engage in combat for a decent minimum length of time before our camps are abandoned. (Or at least have them poof faster when we engage in combat.) It's not fun when you take one swipe at a kreetle in self defense and boom, you lose your camp, and you have to wait for it to collapse so you can set up a new one.

And that rebus-style explanation of Ranger camps cracked me up.

OMG ... I love being a ranger and the Ranger forums ... I and my boyfriendlaughed hysterically from start to finish of this thread! Remembering our many adventures in camps ... lol ... he tags along as my "bodyguard" quite frequently. Thanks for the fun! ... and we both agreed the next time our friend Revik drags creatures into one of my HTFB's screaming help me ... thus distbanding the camp we are gonna kill him instead! lol

On a side note ... it seems to be hit or miss for me ... often my HTFB will repell creatures (not the really really high ones), and then sometimes it won't.

Actually, this is a common misconception. You can stand there and get the same reaction, w/o a camp present. The critter can detect your level (they see "your" con) and some of the skiddish ones will sometimes run from you. Some things just run from everything.
