Thread: RANGERS NEED A VENDOR
Squid we've got a skill system for a reason. If you want to be a ranger/merchant pick up ranger & mechant or parts thereof. Lets not be stealing skills from other professions because we're inadequate - we didn't like it when its happened to us in the past (CM and terrian negociation).

Kinda steps on merchants toes tho does it fred. If we get a free vendor everyone gonna want one per profession.
Umm not free, it's 140 SP worth to get that at master ranger. Or at least I would suggest it be at master. How many SP is Master Merchant? Artisan 0004 then master of merchant? That's less then 140.

I would have to agree. I'm using a vendor now, but of course with master ranger and master combat prof I don't have the sp to get Artisan vendor myself. I'm using a guildy who has merchant, but trying to figure out how to swap back and forth giving him the resources, and him paying me for them after they sell etc is a pain in the arse.
So maybe a single vendor for ONLY organic resources ie. Meat, Hide, Bone, Milk, and then also traps, camps, and camo kits. That would be nice, I have to admit.
I keep not reading it but confused it doesn't seem to be mainstream knowledge. You can offer your resources to a vendor for purchase, giving the total amount. aka a stack of 10,000 would be 100,000, etc. This way the merchant buys your harvests, and you have automatically been bank payed. No swopping or constant meeting up. Vendors do not only sell, they also buy (so to speak), using the vendor like you do the bazaar, only no credit cap, and only the merchant see's the offer.
On another note, before pub 10 comes out rangers who have deals with aspiring merchants are a huge boon right now. On shadowfire our merchants are trying to master, and with 20 scouts/rangers running into the GH paying 1 credit access fee and then using the vendor to sell their resources to the the vendor....the merchant xp is being racked up. Some days are slow for people with merchants, with rangers coming to offer you resources? You KNOW your getting a multitude of merchant xp a day.

By the way, at one point some of y'all were getting behind a proposal for a bazaar revamp that allowed for a contract system to be implemented (I know SOMEONE will bump it for me)...something like that would be better to persue, rather than taking another profs skills.
The problem with that system was the fixing of the amounts. All merchants would abuse that to be 100k or more stacks, and you might NEVER be able to fill it on many shifts. You could drop that bit and it might fly
However
as it is now a contract system would be through a terminal in town. Your "trading post" would be in the city. Same thing, just not portable. Would be nice, however, if field bases had a terminal that could access it. That would be better then this "vendor" idea. But this would have a problem with delivery. Somthing the current system DOES NOT do is deliver the goods automatically. You have to go to each bazaar to pick up the items so I don't think that this would fly at all.
So in conclusion (woa, did I just think all this in print? yes, I did *sigh*) we can't have this. We can, however, ask for a "trading post mod" to the bazaar and that is as far as we can realistically get... and we would be lucky to get that at all...

Except we're the only profession that inherently produces sellable items, yet we'd have to spend twice as many points to get a vendor than any crafter, since we don't already have Novice Artisan (15 points).
