rifleman ranger was nice. i was one of those. but the prone bug finally drove me mad, and i'm surrendering all of rifleman (was 0132). plus, the upcoming combat system revamps will likely put a 3sec speed cap on rifle, and i personally doubt they will increase the damage output of the rifle enough to keep the dps.
right now i'm torn between 3 different alternatives. i have considered being a bard (funny it was mentioned here ^_^), and i've considered taking up either tk or fencer. i'm not positive which path i will take, but i'd like to get some music and combat together. frankly, i'm just tired of soloing all the time.
if i do become a bard though, i think a ranged weapon would be best. hmm...i still have novice pistoleer....
well, i think i just made up my mind ^_^ now all i have to do is sit in the cantina for awhile and do a massive stat migration!
Not only do we warp when going prone, mobs warp towards us randomly. I suggest you wait for the upcoming combat changes before leveling towards master rifleman. I'm currently 3-0-3-2 and it is a painful, slow job.
I'm going to have:
Ranger (maybe master, maybe not)
Medic (just enough to stop my bleeding and make my own stim-b's in the field)
Marksman (pistol and ranged support tracks)
Bralwer (1-hand weapons)
Fencer and Pistoleer (just a few skills here and there, to round out my combat abilities)
I want to be able to do just about anything in the field - ranged combat, close combat, self-healing, making my own meds, harvesting resources to make money. My skill points will limit my skills in the elite professions, but that's okay. I'll go heavy on the ranger and light on the combat skills. Enough skills to make me threatening, but not enough to be uber. I don't think I'm cut out for PvP anyway.

I started out as a scout and worked my way to Master Scout, Master Marksman, and Master Artisan (dumped this one for Master Scout). So as my view is the same as Jai-Bri in as I want to be as self-sufficient as possible.
I now have Novice Ranger, Novice Medic, Novice Artisan (with lvl 1 cooking for pet food), some CH skills to run my companions with me, Master Marksman (dumping some or most to attain Master Ranger).
I am still trying to decide which Marksmanship skills to keep and which to dump.
